with the chairman of ntsb a little while ago? >> reporter: that's right, dave, the head of the ntsb told me earlier this morning they will likely sit down and interview the pilots later on today and that will be an important interview. they are trying to get a sense of what went wrong in flight 214. the wreckage remains here at fso. this was just a training flight and saturday was the first time he had flown that particular type of plane into fso. it was a boeing 777 and of course he came up short slamming the tail into the runway. these are photos released by the ntsb. oral the pilot is experienced and has over 98 hours of flying time but only logged 43 hours behind the controls of a boeing

777. he is still in the process of getting his license for the triple 777. >> well we know that the airline has released information about the crew's experience and we will be looking at the crew's experience overall and their total experience and also their experience in this aircraft and how they worked together and we are looking at crew resource management and human factor's issues. >> and the plane's black box issues, when the pilot realized he was going to stall he tried to abort the landing shortly after that but of course it was too late. the aircraft was flying significantly lower than its suggested speed and investigators have seen this

dramatic video taken by an eyewitness that shows the flight still in the air and they are trying to get their hands on that piece of video also gathering other surveillance video and other video from fso and others who may have seen this flight before the moment of impact. they are creating a briefing and that will happen this morning 11:30, -- at lengths safe -- alex savage ktvu channel 2 morning news. >> one of the girls actually survived the crash but was hit and killed by an emergency vehicle. medical examners say her injuries were consistent with being hit by a vehicle. they say it is possible it happened in all of the chaos.

the other girl appears to have died after being ejected by the plane. an autopsy may begin some time. they will travel here from united states from china and they will be accompanied by other children who were hurt in the asiana airlines jetliner crash. they will get visas before getting into san francisco and asiana airlines are paying for all of their costs. they were lucky enough to fly out but apprehend sufficient -- apprehends sufficient about getting on flights. >> reporter: many were in shock and now people have been here for several days and many are weary and still others are nervous to get on a plane

right bound lane out to allow entering. out towards the delta, we have come back down to the extreme and it looks like we will have to settle day-to-day changes. it is a little warmer, 80s and 90s, mid-week we will cool it down, no big changes on the seven day outlook, and we have one extreme or the other, plenty of fog on the coast, temperatures held in the 60s and 70s, the big dome of high pressure out towards the western edge and inland temperatures come up two to three degrees and we saw that trend happening over the weekend and again, lows are on the cool side. 53 seems good, concord santa rosa, 55 napa, nevada, patchy

. the chairman is showing the washington d.c. newsroom, kyla? deborah, they are providing final moments before the 214 crash landed on saturday. she said seven seconds, pilots crash landed and the system warned the pilots that they were about to stall. 1.5 seconds, they were asked to abort the landing but it was too late. it is just how fast the plane was traveling before it crashed. the ntsb said the boeing 777 needed 133 knots to land but they studied in wantco that the plane was not going fast enough. >> what we need to do is refine

attorneys right there. now today's attorneys say it comes after his mother and brother took the witness stand on friday for the prosecution. they testified it is trayvon martin's voice they can hear in the 911 calls begging for help, however his mother and uncle called saying that voice is of george zimmerman who you see right here on camera. george zimmerman's lawyer is not decided on whether george will take the stand and back here we will keep you posted on the trial. and shots fired by sheriff's deputy in marin county, sheriff's deputy shot at a suspect after the suspect accelerated his car at the deputy. the suspect's car was later found abandoned and he escaped. it is not clear whether he was

wounded but they threw rocks at him. he is scheduled to take up immigration reform and house speaker john boehner is scheduling more meetings on wednesday and he will not vote on the bill passed by the senate and instead they will come up with their own immigration legislation. conservatives do not provide any path to citizenship currently living in a country illegally. starting today, 650,000 defense employees will be forced to take one paid day off each week through september 21st and that's part of a suck quest terrible -- sequester of spending cuts. >> they are trying to make condemns available to prison inmates. although sexual contact is prohibitive, it does happen and it could lead to the spread of

8thth, i am dave clark. oop and i am pam cook, time now 6:30. we do hope to interview the pilots and the plane crash landed on saturday with 307 passengers and crew on board. two teenage girls did not survive and many more people are hurt. now we do have team coverage of the disaster at fso. paul chambers has the latest on the treatment of passengers from that flight but we start with alex savage who was in mill bray and he spoke with the ntsb about the ongoing investigation, alex? >> reporter: investigators are trying to get a better sense of what they were thinking and how they responded in the final seconds of flight 214. they told me is a short time ago they will be sitting down to interview the pilots of that

flight and really understand what they did in those final moments. you can see the wreckage still sits here at fso and according to that information, the flight -- this was the first time he had flown a boeing 777 into fso. overall they have flying time but he only logged 43 hours in a boeing 777 and is still in the process of getting his license. they will not say if his experience level played a role in the crash but the black box shows the pilot realized he realized he was coming up short

and tried to abort the landing but was notable to. it was too late. >> they get a city of shaker activation and that really is -- stiff shaker activation and that shows the airplane is about to stall and they really don't have a lot at that point to recover. >> at the moment of impact, investigators say the aircraft was flying significantly below the target speed but he tried to abort the landing but he didn't have time. he told me investigators have seen this dramatic video which was taken and it shows flight 214 in the air and they are trying to obtain that video and of course any other video they might have, which show flight 214 before it crashed on saturday. the crash scene at fso will

remain intact for at least the next week as investigators gather evidence and go through debris on the runway. again that 4th runway will remain shut down for the foreseeable future and the ntsb is planning on holding a briefing on their investigation alex savage ktvu channel 2 morning news. >> i want to show you new video of the survivors. a lot of them flew home on asiana airlines. one person was in a wheelchair and another was on a stretcher. most did not want to -- most did not want to talk to the waiting mob of reporters there. several injured in the asiana airlines crash left the hospital and we spoke to the chief of surgery about those injuries, paul? >> reporter: she did tell us

there will be three other survive being victims undergoing surgery later today. we bring it to you live as it happens when other survivors boarded a bus and this happened just about an hour and a half ago and it's about 8 to 10 people who boarded that bus and we are told they were survivors. they were not told where they were going and they did not want to do any other interview. the chief of surgery told me they had some type of spine color and when the impact happened, it caused the buckle to open and at least two of those people will be permanently paralyzed. >> we always hope some of them will recover, but the chances of that are pretty slim.

they will have their spine stablized so we can work with them during rehabilitation and at least a couple of them will be permanently paralyzed. >> two people had spinal surgery and one of the three had spinal injury : coming up we will hear from two mothers who will hear about their crash. several people taken to the children's hospital have been released and two of those patients are listed in critical condition. they are replacing the blood used in the initial surgery and if you want to donate, call red cross or 888- 3793 give or for some websites,

go to the plane crash links on our channel 2 website www.ktvu.com. new this morning, an investigation is underway after a para glider fell to his death. it happened at lime ridge open space and that's behind the golf course. they do not know why the para glider crashed and he was rushed to a trauma center where he later died. they are scheduled to resume contract negotiations possibly as early as today today is the first week day they will have it since that started. they will have until august 4th to reach a new deal or they will walk out again. both sides admit they have a lot of work to do in that short time. ac transit is also trying to work out a new contact but there is no word of a new

the top stories we are following, it is 6:24 and caltrans is expected to tell lawmakers today about that problem with the faulty bolts. caltrans is expected to officially announce a decision wednesday. it is in the early fact gathering stages into the crash landing at fso that killed two teenage girls. they never landed a boeing 777. in the past hour passengers left fso general hospital. others who were hurt are expected to have surgery later today. passengers are expected to

accept more delays later today and they say it is starting to take a toll, katie? >> reporter: three of the four runways are now open and some of the backlog is moving through and others are looking at long delays and those constant changing flight schedules are starting to wear on people's patients. >> reporter: they told us at 1:40 they came on and said actually the flight is cans sended and the service -- canceled and the is your solicit crew -- and the service crusade they would be too tired to work. jet blue has been canceled multiple times and most flights departing from fso are on time but many flights scheduled to land here have been canceled. i spoke with passengers who are

livermore valley, some slow traffic coming out. first signs of visible satellite came out solid and it is making a good surge inland. it is sliding back just a little and no change coast and bay, it is not going to change too much. the lows are noticeably cooler and we get that with a little fog and misty, a couple of reports and on the coast, westerly breeze, it is coming down ever so slightly and concord west at 6, there is a component of a sea breeze in place, maybe it is getting chewed up but overall it is not going to affect inland temperatures and it is starting

. tickets on flight 214 at fso, eugene captured these -- eugene captured these during the plane's approach and he knew something was wrong. he said the impact was so powerful, he thought he was going to die right up until the moment the plane finally stopped moving. later we will hear from emergency workers who were there at the scene of the crash. police officers among the first responders will be speaking at a news conference at 11:00 this morning. 225 first responders helped to get passengers off after it crash landed and the san francisco mayor ed lee thanked everyone who helped those victims. morning ships are being warned to watch out for whales. they are half the normal speed
