if it is slightly open. so they make sure they keep it open. but he has figured out how to break into this chest of draws. this is not just breaking and entering, this sugar glider was after drugs. it got into the drawer, and into the cough medicine. the owner got him out just in time. i think that he might have to go to rehab. >> everybody knows though when you're raising your sugar lieder that you keep your draw locked and you keep the cold medicine

an amber alert issued. and the search is on for a 21- month-old toddler. and more details revealed about the deadly plane crash. what we now know about the evacuation after the plane went down. and it was brief but very emotional. >> i hope for all the families who have suffered losses from this accident to recover as quickly as possible. and they are all in my prayers. >> some of the flight attendants who were on board the plane make a public appearance. complete bay area news coverage starts right now. this is ktvu channel 2 news at 5. >> good evening, everyone. i'm heather. >> and we now know the pilots did get their eight hours of sleep. we know the configuration of the plane and what happened to the flight attendants.

in a few moments, we'll have the update from the ntsb. also, some of the flight attendants made an emotional but brief public appearance. and we look into how this crash is making some travelers a little nervous. but we have breaking news to start with in oakland. police started their search about 90 minutes ago for a toddler believed to have been snatched in broad daylight. rob roth is live at the scene with late details. rob? >> reporter: police are searching this neighborhood at this moment for the missing toddler. they were on 79th avenue and international boulevard. this all started just after 11:00 this morning. police say a man walked in, bought energy drinks, then walked back to his black suv parked on 79th. when he got to his car, his 21- month-old daughter was missing. police say he had left her with a relative. >> he did have an adult family member in the car.

but that adult family member does suffer from disabilities, so currently, we are interviewing that person and inquiring as to what happened while the father is in the store. >> reporter: the girl's name is daphne viola webb. she is 21 months old. she was last seen wearing orange pajamas with pink hoods and sox. police are searching the area. witnesses told police say saw a woman walking away with a small child. that woman is described as a 30- year-old light-skinned african- american or hispanic with long straight hair wearing a light shirt and blue jeans. dozens of officers are here, including oakland police, bart police, transit officers and the fbi has now been called in. they're asking for the public's help. if anyone has seen the little girl, please give them a call. reporting live in oakland, rob
