>> our coverage on the protest continues. we will bring you more live pictures throughout this hour and have a live report from ktvu's eric rasmussen on the growing crowds in oakland. the search intensified for a missing oakland toddler. her father said daphne viola webb was kidnapped from his car. ktvu's alex savage tells us why they are focused on a certain area in the oakland hills. >> reporter: search teams today headed into the canyon preserve area in the oakland hills trying to find a sign of daphne viola webb. more than 30 volunteers took part and they came here because she and her father would go walking in this area. >> these were areas they would know to frequent. it is close to the residents. this is an area we are searching. pressing forward trying to locate her. >> reporter: she has been missing since wednesday when

her father john webb told police the toddler was taken from his suv while he was inside a store. she was left in the suv with her grandmother who has dementia. today searchers took dogs with them into the field, including cadaver dogs and homicide detectives. >> do you have reason to believe she is no longer alive? >> i am not going to talk about the investigation. the biggest portion is trying to find her. >> reporter: searchers are looking on several different trails and a team is combing through -- combing through the wooded area where she lives with her father not far away from here. >> reporter: the volunteers involved in the search know how important their role is. >> when we are going out for searches families are in distress when it is an opportunity to assess. >> reporter: her father said he had nothing to do with the

people have been gathering since the acquittal of george zimmerman in the death of trayvon martin. they were just at frank ogawa plaza and now they are on the move. marching down the middle of the street as you can see. there were problems in oakland last night with businesses being vandalized. no arrests made. oakland police are monitoring this. they are keeping an eye on this situation hoping things don't get out of control. ktvu's eric rasmussen is marching with the crowd and he will give us an update later on. mean time dozens of non- union workers at oakland airport walked off the job for a one day strike. >> they accuse subway of unfair labor practices.

the port of oakland is taking action by suing subway and joba juice for not complying with the wage ordinance. >> all the restaurants are expected to comply, not retaliate. they have not been complying so the workers are ready to take action. >> subway did not respond to our request for comment on the strike. the negotiations are set to resume tomorrow between bart management and workers. the two sides are still far apart. the union is planning on meeting with members tomorrow morning before talks toom afternoon. the two -- talks tomorrow afternoon. an investigation is underway in san jose aftera teen was shot to death -- after a teen was shot to death at 1:00 a.m.

this morning. officers first responded to a party but when they arrived they found a boy inside a car with a single gun shot wound. police don't know whether the shooting was gang related. the homicide this morning comes 24 hours after another man was shot to death in san jose. police haven't released the victim's name but he was in his 30s. a super visor is -- supervisor was arrested on burglary and prowling. he was in his sox and underwear when a woman said he tried to break into her home yesterday. he released a statement saying it was alcohol related. and he was taking immediate steps to seek professional help. a friend said he is expected to remain at a treatment facility a month. hollywood is mourning the death of glee star cory

what is going on? >> reporter: they are, ken. we are at 11th and 14th. a look at the crowd as they continue making their way through downtown oakland. this has been going on for 30 minutes now. we have not seen any issues like last night. this crowd is significantly larger and we are guessing in the neighborhood of 300 or so from talking to people. police have been keeping watch as the crowd goes along as they into march through the streets, some of the chants we heard is that the people decided that george zimmerman was guilty despite what a jury ruled last night. again this is the second day of protests after this verdict has come down.
