attempted murder. he killed two people and injured another. he is accused of opening fire on police officers but they were not hurt. he is set to go to trial in contra costa county for a separate incident. prosecutors say in 2009 he tried to ram an officer's car. police are asking for help to solve a deadly hit and run. it happened at 5:00 a.m. on an over pass. a man was found dead in the street. there are no sidewalks on that section. an officer spotted the paramedics were unable to save him. officers found what appeared to be debris from a car near the man's body. >> we don't know at this point what type of vehicle was involved. you know, and the time of day. and also the area is an industrial area. more businesses that aren't open during the hours. >> they found no witnesses but

now to the latest on the sfo crash of a asiana airlines jet liner. from the passengers still in the hospital to help from perfect strangers. ktvu's jana katsuyama is live with how the turn out for help was greater than anyone expected. >> reporter: there is a tremendous need still. i talked with the chief of surgery here at sfo general. he said there are six victims who are here at the hospital in need of treatment. the bay area blood centers need splays to replace -- supplies to replace the supplies that were depleted after the crash. sfo hosted a blood drive in terminal three asking to help

donating blood. staff say so much blood was needed for the victims of the crash that their supplies were wiped out. today the response was double what was expected. >> not everyone can be out there as a first responder, you know, for everything but there are waying you can help out. >> having all the emergency victims depleted the blood supply so we have been trying to get people in this week. >> reporter: the blood drive at sfo was supposed to wrap up at 2:00 p.m. they went an extra hour because there were so many people and staff say although 60 victims have been discharged, six are still being treated and two are in critical condition. >> things have continued to be busy with the number of sick patients here in the hospital.

new developments in a story we brought you earlier. a 23-year-old will be arraigned tomorrow morning. he is a suspend in a double homicide friday. the district attorney got the case today from the police department. it is not clear what charges will be filed. he used a gun and a knife inside the jewelry store to kill two clerks and injure the owner and opened fire on police officers. coroners are fast tracking an autopsy on cory monteith and we know police ruled out foul play. the body was found in a vancouver hotel room yesterday and authorities are hoping to determine the cause of death quickly. they performed the autopsy today and say they will try to expedite the results. the star had problems with

substance abuse in the past. cirque du soliel will resume tomorrow in las vegas less than a month after a performer fell to her death, she died june 29. the scene has been replaced with one that still supports the story lines. the investigation could take up to 6 months. american idol began the audition process in the bay area.
