at 12:32 pilot initiated the go around. that planes the plane tickles another circle around. the plane landed safe and sound, and according to the faa, such go arounds are not unusual and can happen once a day at busy airportings. some businesses in concord were evacuated more than four hours today because of a natural gas leak. a backhoe cut through a gas line. because it was a high pressure line the fire department evacuated a four block area surrounding the leak. >> you have had several car dealerships that had customers. we estimate between 70 to 80 people had to be evacuated. >> pge crews cut off the flow of gas about two hours and repaired the break. even was allowed back into their businesses by 2:00 this afternoon. a former season fan lab technician who admitted

stealing cocaine from a crime lab learned her punishment today. debra mad listen not be going to prison. she was sentenced to one year of home confinement and five year probation. 300 hours community service and pay a thousand dollars fine. madden was charged with stealing cocaine that was supposed to be tested at the crime lab in 2009. as a result, hundreds of drug cases had to be thrown out. a reimbursements ward is now being offered to help find who shot and killed a young girl in oakland. police and crime stoppers have put up a $25,000 reward. the 8-year-old was on a sleepover at a friend's apartment wednesday night when someone rang the doorbell. the children opened the car and someone started firing -- door and someone started firing into the home. the 8-year-old was killed. two other people and the grandmother was hurt. police have no motive or suspect for the killings. police suspect a man trying to hold up a grocery store last

night. an off duty sheriff's deputy happened to be in the store at that time and shot and killed two masked men. >> despite a bullet hole in the front window, customers still came by the market on high street today. the store has been here for 30 years. >> just want to support the store and the business and safety of the neighborhood. >> police say about 10:30 last night two men wearing masks and armed with guns headed straight for the county. what they did not know is an off duty sheriff's deputy was in the store shopping. >> heard the gunshot, called the police. >> police say the deputy shot and killed one of the masked men while the second one got away. police believe they know where he is. >> there was a local hospital that reported having somebody come in with an unexplain gunshot wound. >> investigators say the same two men may have robbed the same store last week. in that case, the owner told us

the entire town has been evacuated. 6000 people have been forced to leave their homes. the fire has destroyed several houses and mobile homes. in sacramento county crews are still monitoring the scene of a grass fire that burned dangerously close to home. flames broke out about 2:30 this afternoon near highway 50 and quickly spread to more than 10-acres. fire crews from several different agencies attacked the flames on the grind air. crews were able to put out the fire at about 4:00 p.m. a heat up in the bay area continues. bill martin here now with how hot it is going to get over the weekend. bill. >> reporter: bay area weekend here for most people. things are heating up. you see the fog outside. there is the fog out behind that. the fog is shallowing out a bit. that is why numbers came up in some of those inland bay

right next to its manufacturing plant. the car maker finalized the purchase this week. according to documents filed with the alameda county clerk, tesla brought the land from union pacific railroad. it includes a test track. the state of california says it is having trouble complying with orders from federal judges to release 10,000 inmates by the end of the year. the judge ordered the release to ease overcrowding and improve conditions for inmates who are sick or mentally ill. they have to find 10,000 inmates who are not likely to commit new crimes if they are released. inmate attorneys filed motions to force the state to comply with those federal orders. all week long we have been talking about a pretty gradual heat up. it appears according to our chief meteorologist we might be

a federal judge has rejected an attempt by british petroleum to stop payments of the settlement fund related to the 2012 oil spill. bp attorneys say the investigation should be continued while they if look into conduct. plaintiff's attorney says bp says they haven't provided any evidence. the families of the firefighters who were members of the granite mountain hot shots crew. they were overrun by flames by fighting the yarnell fire. according to the arizona republic, the city of prescot will give each family a check for at least $328,000. they also will get payments from pensions, workers comp. and private donations. it was one year ago today

that a gunman shot up a movie theater in aurora, colorado. today, people are remembering all of the victims of one of the worse mass shootings in history. survivors were among those gathered today to honor the people who were killed. a list of names of those killed were read during the ceremony along with the names of other victims of gun violence. >> i stand here today to support the family and survivors of aurora, because it is an all too familiar feeling losing a loved one due to gun violence. >> 12 people were killed. at least 70 others injured in that shotting. the suspect james holmes has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. police found four men who may have been held captive for years living in what's being called a prison room. houston police say said they got a tip and checked out a home where they found the four men who appear to be malnourished. one man said he had been there

the tsa plans to expand its expedited screening process at selected airports around the country. the program is called precheck and allows people to keep shoes and jackets on and keep their lap tops in the carry out bags. only those who have signed up beforehand. however, starting later this year, u.s. citizens will be able to sign up online. precheck is available at sfo on american, united and virgin america airlines. it is not available at oakland or san jose.

a massive smuggling bust makes millions of dollars of tusks. smugglers were caught by customs. many of the 1,100 pieces of ivory were small, believed to be taken from very young elephants. the smugglers tried to new longer route to try to sneak the ivory in starting in west africa and finally into hong kong. the san diego county clerk has asked the state supreme court to stop gay marriages from taking place in california. the they are arguing that the u.s. supreme court decision that allows gay mar annals only name the two couples in the lawsuit. they issued a statement saying quote, the filing offers no new arguments that could deny same sex couples from their contusionally protected right. harris goes on to say the federal injunction is still in effect and requires all 58
