dramatic moments on san francisco bay. the coast guard chases a suspicious sailboat. and tonight he is under arrest. good evening everyone i'm heather holmes. >> and i'm ken wayne. it started with a routine check and ended up as a chase. >> reporter: we are live near the u.s. coast guard station on yerba buena island. this is where our information came from tonight.

we were told that an armed coast guard unit boarded this sailboat and a short time later, they were arrested. we were told the coast guard pinpointed a sailboat without markings. >> we headed in and the captain did not allow us to come on board, which raised suspicion further. >> reporter: the captain told the coast guard to drop their weapons and he would give permission to finally board

their vessels. the units refused to lower their guns, tells the captain to prepare for their boarding. there was some type of confrontation and the coast guard arrested him. he was the only person on board. the coast guard says it's unusual to come upon an unmarked boat. he says it means the captain and sailboat are stateless. we have new details tonight about the role of phone calls in the limousine fair. the wife of the limo driver told ktvu that she was not talking with her estranged husband. that contradicts what she

reported. driver orville brown has not commented on the story that he may have been distracted at the time of the fire. a man who stopped to help crash victims this morning was hit and killed by another vehicle. the incident happened just before 3:00 a.m. on southbound 380 near wood side road. this good samaritan had stopped and was trying to stop the highway when he was hit. officers arrested the driver suspected of causing that initial crash on suspicion of drunk driving. the person who hit the good samaritan was not charged. an australian race car driver remains hospitalized tonight after a crash at the antioch speedway. the accident happened last night during a spring car race. peter rossi was in second place chasing the leader when his car

made contact with another vehicle. emergency responders had to cut through the wreckage to free him. >> there was contact with another car. they were going down the front stretch. stuff like that happens, they made contact and we've seen a lot. murphy was air lifted. the trouble was first reported around 5:30 on semus avenue and ramona street. water gushed through the streets. east bay mud says crews are on the scene making repairs. officials say it's a little too early to say what caused the water to break. and a little show of support for trayvon martin.
