the danger is in what lies above heads. >> reporter: for some it is the best way to see san francisco. but now big bus tours are under investigation after a bus on friday struck a wire in san francisco. injuring five passengers. >> tragic. >> reporter: it happened outside his home. snapped cables mark the spot. he tried to warn the bus company after another bus struck and loosened the wire 90 minutes before the accident. >> one of your buses clipped the wire. you know, it is a safety hazard. >> reporter: police say the passengers on the rear of the deck were worried moments before impact. a woman nearly had her nose torn off and was transported to the hospital. police say she has improved and the other passengers are expect stood recover. the driver stopped outside a

the world. it lists 14 cities around the world, including san francisco. the san francisco tour has 20 stops where tourists can see the attractions. and in a separate case a driver accused of driving drunk on the job entered a not guilty plea this morning. he had a blood alcohol of .21 when police arrested him in san francisco earlier this month. he faces charges of dui and driving with an open container of alcohol. we know the names of the palo alto couple involved in a deadly plane trash at lake tahoe. ktvu's ken pritchett is follow the story. a womb might have saved one of the -- a woman might have saved one of the people's lives? >> reporter: the plane crashed after taking off from lake tahoe airport but it was based here at the palo alto airport. we talked to several people who

are familiar with the couple or familiar with their aircraft that was based here. the sheriff's department says this is what witnesses saw after that plane took off. >> it was see leaving the airport. headed towards lake tahoe and lost attitude. later it crashed in the woods here. >> reporter: this is the wreckage of the plane built in 1963. the pilot was dead when help arrived. the plane was upside down. the wife was trapped and the aircraft was leaking fuel. the plane was in a wooded area. but there was no trouble finding the plane as a nurse just happened to be in the area after the crash occurred. >> short time after the plane crashed an off duty nurse was

walking in the area with her dog and she arrived at the scene within minutes and provided aid to the injured woman. >> we talked to a man that palo alto airport who fuels the aircraft. he has been fueling this plane for five years. he was meticulous in his care for the aircraft. he just did a partial refashion the plane last year, paint -- refurbfurb of the plane last year. painting it. ken pritchett, ktvu channel 2 news. the fire truck that ran over and killed a 16-year-old asiana airlines flight 214 crash survivor was not equipped with heat sensing equipment. they can't determine if the technology would have prevented her death, however, it is meant

tom vacar, ktvu channel 2 news. caltrans plans to replaces unwith hundred shock absorbers on the bay bridge. they were installed in 2004. they were out faster than expected but the bridge is still safe. they expect to spend $13 million to replace them over the next few years. today the coast guard investigated a sail boat a day after the captain led officers on a two hour chase out of the bay. investigators took photos and examined the boat today. the captain is charged with assaulting a coast guard officer who tried to board the boat. the coast guard is also investigating him because his boat had no identifying markers and he was carrying two different pass ports. trial got underway for a man who killed a hells angels president during a shoot out in

nevada. he is charged with killing the president two years ago. another member who was about to go on trial for injuring a man during the shoot out accepted a plea deal. he faces 15 years in prison. now that detroit declared bankruptcy some people worry california could be headed down the same path. the state could end up just like detroit because of california's long term pension obligations. >> most of the reform effect new employees. unfortunately that isn't enough to solve the problem. >> he says california now has $220 billion in unfunded

pensions pensions. california attorney general kamala harris urged the supreme court to reject the latest bid to stop same-sex marriages. a clerk in san diego friday filed a petition asking the court halt clerks issuing marriage licenses on friday. she argued the injunction over rides state law. a similar attempt was rejected earlier this month. the medical center was hit by a power outage this morning at the berkeley location but the emergency generators immediately switched on. no patient service awas effected -- was effected. it is a boy. prince harry and kate middleton welcomed a son today. the future king of england.

new at 6:00 p.m. a live view of a crime right here. a business owner helped police catch a burglar as he watched it in real time. ktvu's eric rasmussen is live. one of the places that is seeing a spike in burglaries to explain what happened here. >> reporter: it is no secret this shop has surveillance cameras but the man accused of breaking in had no idea his every movement was captured on a live feed. >> reporter: this man may have thought he was all alone when he broke in friday night. but someone was already watching. cameras caught the burglar turning on the lights, looking for car keys and later backing a car out of the garage. but he didn't know the owner received a call at home from

service from ebay expanded to the peninsula today. it is part of a battle with amazon.com. ebay launched in san francisco and san jose last year. they deliver products from stores in as little as an hour. the expansion comes as amazon builds more warehouses for faster delivery. larger touch screens could becoming to iphones. apple suppliers are helping them test larger 4-inch phone screens and 13-inch tablet screens. this comes as competing companies make a shift towards larger screen screens. a judge has struck down a limit on salaries for hospital executives. aimed to limit anyone working for el camino hospital to earning no more than twice the
