properly. reporting live, john fowler, ktvu channel 2 news. a south bay church leader is facing charges after they found more girls that were victimized at the child care center. more information on this ongoing criminal case. our robert handa is following the story. investigators say the number of girls involved here has now grown to four. >> reporter: that's right it was another emotionally wrenching day. a few days ago they found the list of charges is now longer and more will be added soon. former ymca child care worker leminey was escorted into court today. last week he was crying after he was being arrested. today he was calm after a third charge was added. this one police say involved a

5-year-old girl. >> he took sexually explicit photographs of her. detectives were able to corroborate those images by taking the unmistakable photographs from his cell phone. >> through good police work and good forensic police work we were able to recover images that are useful in the prosecution of this case. >> reporter: the ymca says it is assisting police and helping parents cope. >> parents loved him. i received a number of phone calls this week from parents that are emotionally distraught. thinking that this person that they love so much could possibly have committed these crimes. >> reporter: police say there are more. investigators plan to file charges for another victim later this week. >> the fourth victim is a 7- year-old female who is reporting that while she was under the care of larminea he molested her. >> reporter: the prosecutor says he understands.

>> these are the kind of camps i put my children into. so your initial response is you don't want these charges to be true. >> reporter: he is being held without bail and returns to court in september to enter pleas. one officer told me they are looking through thousands of images. live in morgan hill, robert handa, ktvu channel 2 news. the man charged with kidnapping and murdering morgan hill teenager sierra lamar was back in court today. angelo garcia torrez did not enter a plea. sierra lamar disappeared last year despite many searches her body was never found. her dna was found in garcia torrez' and on her clothing which was found by her home. ktvu's david stevenson live

with how -- >> reporter: the fatal collision happened at the intersection just behind me. today prosecutors said the cyclist in that crash faces community service but no prison time. >> bicyclists sped alongside traffic on market and castro streets today. it's the same intersection where 71-year-old wee died last year after being struck by a cyclist who prosecutors say ran a red light while racing down this hill. >> the bike peuszed me off. they really peuszed me off. they don't follow the rules. >> reporter: george gascon today said 37-year-old cyclist bucari pled guilty to a manslaughter charge. the first such conviction in the state and possibly the nation according to the da. >> he will be providing a thousand hours of community service. and he will be on probation for five years. >> reporter: but he will not go

to prison. the da also said testimony about bucari's speed and surveillance video showing the crash might not withstand cross- examination. >> there's not like all the video we have clear black and white answered to whether he entered the intersection, the light was red or not. >> reporter: puig a husband and father ran this travel agency for over 30 years. his niece today refused to speak about the case. >> i have no comment. >> reporter: bucari's attorney also did not return our call. he will be sentenced in mid- august. now coming up at 6:00 how his case compares to another about 18 months ago where a cyclist killed a visiting tourist. david stevenson, ktvu news. with no agreement today the transit agency and its workers have only 12 days left to try to avoid a strike.

the union's 30 day contract extension ends august 4th. ktvu's consumer editor john vacar is following this story. me -- negotiations have been taking place. >> reporter: if you believe and read between the lines what b.a.r.t. and its unions are saying then it seems likely that the strike possibility grows all the time. given all the rank and finger pointing, primarily alternatives to b.a.r.t. began today. >> there's calls today for cal caltrans to begin to put into place the negotiations we have. >> it seems early to us. we really believe we can get a deal. we can come to a fair contract to people.

and certainly ready to heat up with a big really there in mid- august. flames are threatening homes in southern california where a brush fire broke out near a major freeway. fire officials say the fire is north of los angeles in a canyon near the grapevine area of interstate 5. flames have spread across some 450 acres. the fire is has forced the evacuation of 15 homes and shut down a truck lane. firefighters are getting the upper hand on a wildfire near palm springs. that fire has destroyed seven homes. we've had some unusual weather around the bay area. muggy kind of feel like you're in hawaii on an overcast day. feels like that to me. >> light sprinkles have shown up in the area. take a look at live storm tracker 2. it shows you the clouds, it shows you the moisture as well. you can see all the activity showing up mainly around lake

may. the board says there were seating irregularities that some students were seated together at round tables instead of individual desks as required. there are no allegations of cheating. the board voted to pursue appropriate board. an exclusive ktvu field poll found that a majority of voters approve of the job governor brown is doing. 16% had no opinion. the governor's opinion rating is down slightly from february when it hit 57% the highest mark of his current term. the biggest support comes from democrats about 2/3 approving of his performance. and let's check in with mark. still muggy from the last time we talked to you. >> it's unusual. you don't expect it in this area. you expect the nice dry climate that we usually have.

it's muggy out there, feels a lot like southern california. if you're traveling any where near arkansas they're getting hammered right now with big storms. big storms moving into the georgia area into northern florida. you will see those thunderstorms popping up around the redding area. you see this storm, this moisture churning up thunderstorms. for us we just see light scattered showers, light sprinkles at best. the cloud cover is there. this is some tropical moisture. that's why it's kind of warm and muggy. we've had temperatures out there today easily into the 80s. check out some of these numbers despite mostly cloudy. it's 83 in fairfield. it is 84 in livermore and 79 in walnut creek. it's just one of those days when it's going to change around. i for one thing we dodged a bullet. it wouldn't have been hard to get lightning out of this weather pattern. this time of year the last

thing you want are lightning strikes. we had a monsoonal moisture, that's something you have to worry about. we've had situations like these where we get thousands of lightning strikes. we had thousands of lightning strikes in southern california, thousands of lightning strikes in northern california would be bad this time of year. i think we might be in good shape here. that system is moving out of the area. as it does we start to clear. as you move through the bay area microclimates tomorrow. you're going to get lots of 70s across the bay. then you get up into the 80s. you easily when you get into the edges of the bay you're going to find those low 90s if you look real hard. we're looking for a nice warm day as we head into tomorrow with more sunshine. the forecast and here is the five day. you're looking at partly cloudy conditions tomorrow or clearing. temperatures easily get into the mid-90s. you take a peak here, you're going to see 92 degrees on thursday.

in the next few hours the city of summerville are considering whether to give r.o.v.e.r. a little more room. they're considering giving dog parks more room. a quarter acre area will be set aside. but that's not set to open until next summer. that leaves one place where dogs can run. a fenced in dog run in las palmas park. >> i live in cupertino and we have no dog parts over there. we have to come here to this park. it's very nice but it doesn't have any grass. so i think we definitely need more parks. >> very seldom do you see one dog. just that alone tells you that you know you need more. >> reporter: sunny vale officials are looking to using

funds to set up two new dog parks. the city council is set to vote tonight. you can speak out at the meeting it begins at 7:00. it's inheldat the sunny vale city council chambers. the highway patrol announced it's joining a multi state effort to try to prevent fatalities at a key interstate. starting tomorrow the chp and ten other highway patrol agencies will ramp up enforcement on interstate 80 from the bay area all the way to new jersey. the campaign called the i80 challenge lasts for eight days and aims to prevent any fatalities on the 2,900 miles of the interstate. an increase of fatalities along i80 during summer vacation times. here's a live picture in emeryville. in california someone dies in a collision on interstate 80 about every eight days. history is about to happen at at&t park. >> it is a throw back evening at at&t park. i'll tell you why when we come back coming up in a live

brazilian authorities are blaming each other for the traffic fiasco that brought the pope's motorcade to a standstill yesterday. this is the first time the pontiff has gone to his home continent since becoming pope. hoards of people rushed toward his vehicle after it became stuck behind buses and taxis when his driver took a wrong turn. tomorrow he is scheduled to attend the opening of a hospital for recovering drug addicts. and it was an attack yesterday on two prisons including the abu gray prison known for the 2004 prison abuse scandal involving u.s. soldiers. military stormed the prisons with suicide attackers, rockets and car bombs that killed more than 100 guards. iraq officials are saying they are trying to prevent the escapees from leaving the country as they work to try to

we have breaking news to report out of san francisco right now. fire crews are fighting a structure fire in the potrero hill neighborhood. this is burning at 767 san bruno avenue. that is just east of 101, a bit north of general. at this point we don't have any information on how the fire started. if anyone was inside the building or if anyone was hurt as a result of the fire fight or the fire. of course the minute we get new information on this breaking news, the fire burning in san francisco we will bring it to you. scott weiner introduced legislation to close all parks in the city including golden

gate park to help prevent vandalism. some say the plan is just the latest attempt to rouse the homeless people who sleep there. >> reporter: some san francisco city officials say often no good things happen in parks in the middle of night. >> those type of crimes occur when nobody is around. you don't want to get caught vandalizing something. so you do it in the wee hours when nobody is there. >> reporter: supervisor scott weiner introduced legislation that would close parks. all city parks would be closed between midnight and 5:00 in the morning. right now some parks have operating hours most do not. >> this is very unenforcement and chaotic right now. this legislation was set very modest and standard closing hours for all parks. >> reporter: the city says it spends more than a million dollars a year fixing and cleaning up after people who make a mess in the middle of the night. under the proposal, anyone

new york's laguardia airport is fully operational today after a crash landing that injured 10 people. a southwest airlines flight was coming in from nashville yesterday when a nose gear collapsed. federal officials decided today to launch a full investigation into the cause of that collapse. the accident temporarily closed the airport and caused the cancellation of dozens of flights. all of the injuries were minor. lap seat belts are required in the area and throughout the state. >> reporter: the national transportation safety board met in washington to release findings about two school bus
