commute approaching the bay bridge on the east shore and that traffic is doing well. let's go back to the desk. >> we begin with breaking news out of sanford. there has been a security breach at the university. affects students, faculty and anyone else who uses stanford's network. stanford says the apparent cyber attack is similar to those at other large organizations in recent months. we have a crew on the way to the campus. a live report at 7:30. >> 7:02. a former high school coach in napa arrested on child pornography charges. what led to the investigation and a police raid on the man's home, paul? >> reporter: good morning. according to police, he was a part time wrestling coach and also a part time photographer. his most recent school according to published reports is right

here. this is his mug shot we have of him. he's 43-year-old richard rachfael. facing charges of selling, sending and of pornography. has a web site shows pictures of wedding, children and high school students and says he's been a commercial photographer for more than 14 years. police found child porn on his home computer. he is cooperating with the investigation and admitted to downloading child porn for five years. however, he claims he never took child porn pictures or videos. also being reported he was a part time wrestling coach from 2008 until february of this year. also said to be playing in coach wrestling this

fall. over to napa police department and hopefully get more information from them and bring that to you in our next live report. >> 7:03. police in union city arrested a man accused of exposing himself to a teenage girl. now police want other victims to come forward. accused of exposing himself to a 14-year-old girl on tuesday after allegedly following her in his car. police say gonzales has admitted to exposing himself to as many as 8 other people. >> now to our continuing coverage of the 10th and often bitter contract talks between bart management and unions. there are ten days left before the next strike deadline of august 4th. and the two sides still appear to be far apart. katie is at a bart station and tells us why a bart shut down in august could be far worse than

the one in july. >> reporter: rider numbers are higher than during the last strike. that could mean a lot more people trying to take bart and a lot more people on the roads. commuters won't forget the traffic snarl caused by the strike earlier this month. you can see the long lines of commuters struggling to get home. bart management and union leaders have been meeting trying to reach a new contract agreement before the august 4th deadline. that's when the current extended contract expires. both sides admit they are far from an agreement. union workers shouldn't be allowed to strike. >> i think it's like a public utility. i don't think you should have the right to strike. i think if you're a system that the area depends on, then both sides need to come to an

agreement in ways that don't disrupt the community. >> reporter: in other cities like new york, chicago, boston, and washington d.c., the unions are prohibited from striking. asked a spokes person what it would take to do that here, there would have to be a change in the organizations enabling status to prohibit future strikes. coming up in our next live report, it may be ten days before a potential strike, but commuters are still prepping for their alternate commute plans. also let you know what bart is doing to prepare for a potential second strike coming up in our next live report. ktvu, channel 2 news. >> 7:06. new developments in the investigation into a practice into a hospital in nevada of sending mentally ill patients here to the bay area. a commission made a preliminary decision to revoke the

accreditation. three dozen of 1500 patients discharged by the hospital in the past five years have been sent to san francisco on greyhound buses without any arrangements for housing or medical care. the hospital can appeal that decision. back here at home, east bay mud has left the scene of a gas leak after being out there working all night. the crew with the water utility ruptured a natural gas line on danville boulevard near stone valley road. evacuation lasted about five hours. the gas line was broken when a mud crew was digging to find a water line. >> as we were digging to do our work, the markings were off. so our crew hit a half inch gas line. >> contra costa county sent out a phone alert to more than 900 people. one cable provider

notified people outside alamo about the evacuation. a lot of people were confused. county officials have launched an investigation. >> fire investigators in san jose plan to talk to a couple tractor operators. it started about 6:00 last night near san jose international airport. the flames burned about three acres. there are no injuries. tractors were cutting grass in the area when that fire began. >> let's check in with sal. how's it going? >> it's better than usual, guys. good morning to you . traffic is moving along relatively well here. i want to show it to you at the toll plaza. there's a little delay in some of those middle lanes. not a bad one if you are trying to get in to san francisco. the traffic does move along nicely. the traffic is also looking good on interstate 80 as you drive-thru there. no major delays on

higher clouds. now again nothing like we had a couple days ago. mainly south of us. there are pretty good thunderstorms down in the four corners. look at phoenix. really sliding in there . some of those might drift into southern california. a little low has been hanging off the coast of san diego. but it is starting to work its way towards us. that will enhance the fog towards friday and the weekend. a little cooler and stronger delta breeze. yesterday that was not the case. some inland temperatures will be hot today. 80s down south and 90s. high pressure winds out. hot inland. warm to hot. 30 or 40 degree spread from some of the high temperatures. a cooling trend taking us into the weekend. low clouds, fog, sunny. nice for some. we'll see if that holds. anywhere from 50s, 60 s around the coast. and 90s inland.

little bit more fog today. also a few high clouds giving us a nice sunrise. anywhere from 50s, 60s by the coast. >> delta plane has landed safely in baltimore after a pilot reported a problem with the landing gear. delta flight 1425 made the emergency landing yesterday afternoon. no one was hurt. the plane is being inspected. the incident comes after ten people were hurt monday night when the landing gear collapsed in new york. we're also learning about a private memorial service for the victims of the asia na airlines crash. the san francisco mayor's office reports it was held yesterday. mourners came to pay their last respects to the three girls who were killed.

no other details are being revealed about that service. >> time now 7:14. new congressional report that shows most crimes that are happening on cruise ships are not being told to the public. and consumer advocates say that's a threat to passengers. law makers learned only 3% of all the crimes are being told to the public. >> reporter: that's because the law governing cruise ship crimes only requires certain crimes be reported to the public. for example, the public doesn't find out about crimes committed against miners. take a look at the -- against minors. take a look at the crimes. 71 incidents on board cruise ships. but only 24 were reported to the public. the senate commerce committee says the difference in the numbers is likely victims under the age of 18. committee members blame the language of the law created by congress

three years ago. only requires cruise lines to report crimes no longer under investigation by the fbi. the committee chairman is introducing legislation to close the gaps in these reported crimes. the details of his plan when i see you next. ktvu, channel 2 news. >> 7:15. it's exclusive video to channel 2. four men detained in a shooting that wounded two people in san francisco. ktvu shot this exclusive video. handcuffed men less than ten minutes after gunfire erupted. the suspects are accused of shooting a man and a woman yesterday afternoon. but after the shooting, police say the suspects gassed up their pick-up truck at a gas station where they were spotted. the police followed them and later arrested them. a man accused of killing two people at a san francisco jewelry store earlier this month is due to enter a plea next week. that court hearing comes

after dozens of family members of the victims went to a court appearance yesterday demanding justice. >> i want my sister back. i want her to come home. >> the suspect barry white appeared in court yesterday on charges he killed two employees at the vigtoga jewelry store earlier this month and critically injured the owner after a dispute over the price. sglt why they kill her like that? he's still living. >> he has no right to do that. >> what we going to do? >> white was released from contra costa county jail a year and a half ago after a judge cut his bail. he's accused of ramming a police car back in 2009 and threatening a police officer.

>> a third woman has now come forward to accuse san diego mayor of sexual harassment as he faces calls for his resignation. >> i felt humiliated and dehumanized and insulted. >> morgan rose said she met to discuss non-profit but he refused to talk to her and repeatedly tried to kiss her. she is a psychologist with the school district and founder of advocacy group of children. >> four definite times he tried to get my face into his face so he could kiss me. >> former communications director of accused him of sexual harassment. several members are calling on him to step down. he has no plans to resign. anthony weiner had an awkward moment when the candidates were asked about

welcome back to mornings on 2. time is 7:22. the oakland city council could take action against own of its own members tonight. a hearing has been scheduled. an audit found she violated rules when she inter feared in the construction of a teen center. discipline could include censure. there's no penalty attached to that action. >> this morning some observers are raising question about practice giving free seats in sports arenas to government officials. government officials who seat more than 40 tickets.

those tickets were worth $600 a piece but free for the officials. government officials have access to seats at baseball games, football games, basketball games, the arena. >> if you have 60 seats not being paid for on a regular basis, it may seem like a small number, but ultimately it not only affects the bottom line but impacts public trust. >> more than 1,000 tickets were given to public employees at candle stick park last year. ed lee received 122 tickets. his office says 80 of those tickets were given to under privileged children. we posted our special report on the free tickets for government officials on the ktvu facebook page. tell us what you think about these perks available to government officials. >> 7:24. sal is looking at the morning commute.

welcome back. time now 7:29. one oakland neighborhood is shocked and grieving about the shooting death of a well-liked neighbor known as a pet lover and dog walker. brian joining us live where police as well as the friends of the victim are trying to make sense of what happened out there. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. a lot of people trying to make sense. police do say they have a couple things that may aid in their investigation. several people have come by now leaving candles, flowers. some even left pictures and newspaper articles trying to get the message out how sense less this act was. a lot of them shocked at what happened. neighbors identified the victim as 66-year-old judy sullivan.

neighbors say she was well-known and seen walking around here as she was known as a pet nanny or dog sitter. police say she was in her gray subaru a few blocks from her home when somebody opened fire. her car was hit and rolled backwards. nobody else was injured. no other houses or cars were hit. she lived alone with her pets and well liked in the neighborhood. one man who came by this morning shared his thoughts. >> generally i feel safe but this person being so innocent in broad day light, 1:24 in the afternoon. wrong place at the wrong time. i don't know. that shouldn't be the case for anyone. >> oakland police looking at a couple things. the first are beer bottles left behind at the

scene. police say those bottles may have clues who the shooter was. the second is because the shooting happened at a nearby cemetery which is known to have cases of illegal dumping, they will be looking at footage to see if there is more information. judy was interested in starting some type of neighborhood watch program as she was concerned for her safety. as we take it back out here live though, judy also had a dog. several neighbors have come forward asking to take care of that dog this morning. ktvu channel 2 news. >> all right. back to our breaking news this morning. there has been a security breach at stanford affecting the school's computer network. tell us how this apparent cyber tack is affecting students and staff this morning. >> reporter: stanford is

telling anybody who uses computer system to change their passwords. they are working with law enforcement and it consultants. stanford officials say they are not aware of any protected health information. personal financial information or social security numbers being compromised. they just don't know at this point. the university does not conduct research that's classified. the breach of information is similar to cyber attacks at large companies and organizations within the united states. it is continually upgrading defenses against attacks on information system and realizes the seriousness of this matter. they are asking anyone who uses sunet any affiliates or someone contracts with them, change their passwords. do this maybe in a week or in two weeks just

depending on what they determine in their investigation. a spokes person i got off the phone with said he couldn't release any more information. they are not going to be talking to us on camera. they really don't want to hamper the investigation. so that's all we know for now. trying to talk to people to see if anybody knows about it. students and faculty and staff were informed of this. ktvu channel 2 news. >> an internet gaming cafe appears to have reopened when it shut down when a news crew showed up and started asking questions. the hills internet cafe is back in business. when our crew went inside customers were playing games and winning money. we asked the manager about the legality of the machines. the manager told everyone to leave and closed down. city attorney is threatening to file an

injunction to force it to permanently close. neighbors complained about increase in crime since that cafe opened. >> the price tag for the so-called grand central station of the west is getting bigger. the total cost of san francisco's transit center is expected to cost $300 million more than first projected and that may grow. the transit hub at mission in downtown san francisco is scheduled to open in late 2017. it will serve buses from 7 transit agencies and eventually electric trains. >> time is 7:35. police have identified a man accused of killing his wife. happened yesterday at the rimcon valley mobile estates park. 65-year-old dana lyson called police and said he just killed his wife. took them inside his mobile home and they found the

body of 64-year-old virginia caytano. police still searching for suspects in a deadly attack that happened in an apartment. happened yesterday at the creek view in. subsidized housing complex. investigators say the victim was a 62-year-old woman who lived alone. the homicide detectives haven't said how she died but they are saying she was not shot or stabbed. >> president obama is heading to florida to continue series of economic speeches. he kicked off his tour yesterday to talk about vision for a new american prosperity. he will focus on working middle class americans for the rest of the time in office. >> no one who works full time should have to live in poverty. i am going to keep making the case we need to raise minimum wage. >> no matter how good his speeches are, it will take action. he is encouraging americans to tell the

representatives to work together to get more americans working again. >> 7:36. a congressional committee approd measure to phase ought mail directly to homes and businesses. the full house will consider a proposal to deliver mail to central boxes. there will be extensions for people who could prove a hardship. the change could save $4.5 billion a year if it's fully implemented. a rally is planned for saturday trying to prevent the berkeley post office from being sold. the postal service plans to sell that building. citizens to save the berkeley post office says they are not giving up. that rally on saturday will be celebrating the building's 100th birthday. >> car service uber is expanding. operating with a lower cost service. an application you can download that allows people who need a

ride to connect with drivers. a trip from sfo to palo alto cost $60. palo alto to mountain view cost $25. prices are 10 to 15% cheaper than a taxi. there will be an open house tonight. the san francisco municipal transportation agency plans to turn parking spaces into bike lanes. the open house is at 1751 sacramento street at 5:00. they should probably hear from a lot of people. >> 7:38. let's get everybody out the door. sal, you are going to take care of folks in the south bay. what are you watching? >> a new crash on highway 24. you always check me on what i'm looking at is my computer. that's how the accidents come in from chp dispatch center. this is a look at 237. the traffic looks good. a little bit of

slowing but it's not all that deep this morning over to sunnyvale. after that it moves well. we had a crash reported on 24 near lafayette. eastbound 24 at oak hill. traffic is going to be a little bit slow perhaps in the area if it is there. we're looking for it. the traffic on 24 westbound doesn't look that bad. nice to have the camera here to check it out. moving along and taking a look at the bay bridge. lighter than usual today. this might be a five minute delay and that's it before you drive on to the bridge. >> a little stronger than sea breeze. these flags are a little stronger. westerly breeze out towards port chicago. gusts of 31. may be a little cooler. still going to be hot for some. pretty good fog bank out there.

welcome back to mornings on 2. 7:43 is the time. live look at the big board. dow jones slipping about 50 points. following lead of what happened overnight in asia and this morning in europe. after the bell, we are going to hear from amazon and hear from starbucks. a lot of big important earnings coming in. facebook stock, i'm keeping an eye on that. right now just want to get you the latest reading. facebook stock is up after reporting good quarterly earnings. better than wall street expected. the stock up $7 a share as it did on the

opening bell. that's about 25.5% for facebook. mobile ads pushed revenue up by 53%. facebook stock still below $38 a share. the latest report from the labor department shows the number of americans filing for job less benefits is up. 7,000 more than the week before. the overall number of new claims is down almost 8% since the start of the year. and analysts say federal spending cuts are keeping the rate of economic growth in check. >> 7:45. we have new information about the possible cause of a deadly train crash in northern spain. 77 people have been killed. 141 were hurt. the train jumped the tracks. the impact split the train in half. this morning, spain's

transportation secretary says that train may have been going too fast. >> i heard explosion and when i arrived, one of the carriages were over the road. one of the fireman said it might explode. >> that derailment is the deedly evident train accident in spain since 1972. religious festival attracts tens of thousands around the world. it has been canceled because of that accident. the port of tampa has reopened after a freight train derailed early this morning. officials say 15 cars derailed and ethanol spilled out of three of the cars. so far no word of injuries. >> happening now, pope francis is making one of the most symbolic gestures. take you there live this morning. he was mobbed by a crowd of well wishers as he toured one of the

low income areas. the visit is to count the values. he has a busy day ahead of himself. and going to bless the olympic flag and hold mass at the beach as part of world youth day festivities. >> 82 united methodist pastors say they will defy their church. the group gathered yesterday at a church in sacramento and announced they would defy church doctrine and marry gay couples if active pastors refuse to do it. >> come out of a closet with our stance and i've seen the opposite. >> you do not follow an unjust law. >> if the church dessert identifies the pastors they may lose tax breaks and possibly group health insurance. one leading top bishop says he sympathizes but all united

methodist church officials made a commitment to follow the church doctrine and oppose gay marriage. >> the house has passed a $598 billion defense spending bill but at the same time barely rejecting an amendment that would have curbed the reach of the national security agency. the nsa has been criticized for surveillance program which include collecting cell phone and computer data from millions of americans. the obama administration argued the programs protect national security. the amendment lost by 12 votes. it was supported by liberal and tea party law makers. 7:48. in an effort to help middle class families pay for college, a group of senators reached a deal on college loans. the measure caps the rates on student loans. under grad students will pay a rate of 3.85%. that will be next year. the plan would caprate

s to $8.25. 10.50 for parents. the sailboat skipper involved in a chase near the golden gate bridge is scheduled to be charged next month. the charges include sending out a phoney distress call and failing to stop his boat. prosecutors say he assaulted a coast guard officer. >> a third competitor for the america's cup race is now back in the water. yesterday for the first time artimus racing took out 72-foot catamaran on san francisco bay. two and a half months since the death of a crew member during a practice run. the crew inspected the new boat during the night and decide whether they are going to sale again today. hopes to compete beginning august 6th. wrigley field is getting a

live at the scene. emergency crews are thereafter a plane crashed into a home. this is in columbus, indiana. a live picture of the scene. now, earlier we could see the house. if they pan over a bit, the house was engulfed in flames. we are told that two people were inside the house when that crash happened. their conditions at this point not known. but there you can see the damage to that house. again, a plane crash this is columbus, indiana. it's been a disappointing summer with many movie fans with summer flops. one of the most striking examples was a loan ranger. it was made by the team that created the pirates of the caribbean films. cost $215 million to make and earned less than a third of that in the last three weeks. industry analysts say the loan ranger isn't alone

students and faculty are being told to change their password after someone apparently hacked into the school's computer system. the university says it is not aware any social security numbers or private health information were compromised. a live report in our next half hour. >> former high school coach is arrested on child pornography charges. paul is live to tell us what led up to the investigation and that police raid on the man's home. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. since our last report i spoke with school officials who would not go on camera but did relaet a statement. this is the most recent high school where he worked. he is 43-year-old richard rachfolt. police arrested him tuesday morning and he's facing charges of selling, sending and possessing child

pornography. shared child porn on 4th and 5th this year through a peer to peer web site. he was a part time photographer and has a web site of scott shot me photography. been an informtographer. he claims he never took any child porn pictures or videos. he was a part time wrestling coach at a high school. gave me a written statement saying the news of his arrest is surprising and didn't have any previous communication about the former coach. school officials say they do not suspect any of his students to be involved but ask parents to discuss any relationship between him and the children. he left the school because he was going to start his new job this fall

sat saint helena high school. new updated information on our noon news cast. ktvu channel 2 news. >> time is 8:01. police in union city arrested a fan accused of exposing himself outside of a liquor store. now the police want other victims to come forward. police say gonzales is accused of exposing himself to a 14-year-old girl after allegedly following her in his car. police say gonzales has admitted to exposing himself to 8 other people. >> turning to our continuing coverage to the tense and often bitter contract talks. there are ten days left before the next strike deadline on august 4th. the two sides still appear to be far apart on all of the main issues. katie is live at the west oak land bart station this morning. why a bart shut

down in august could be far worse than the one in july. >> we are ten days out. the morning commute going well as sal's been saying. the potential strike in august could be much worse who say more people take bart in august. union and bart leaders have been meeting trying to hammer out a contract. both sides admit they are far apart in negotiations. board members met yesterday and trying to come up with contingency plans. failed to keep up with demand and huge traffic delays. i spoke with one commuter who rented a car. she spent around $300 and says she's frustrated with bart's reliability. >> i'm probably going to end up buying a car now.

i can't rely on bart. and i have to be here so early that it's very difficult to catch the bus here. >> there are reports bart management will bring in charter buses again if there is a second strike. we're working to learn how many buses and what possible locations. one mtc board member estimated it would take 8,000 buses to match the capacity bart handles daily. a potential strike could cause traffic snarls again. many say the laws should change, employees cannot strike. i spoke with one commuter who says he stands by the union no matter how long it adds to the commute. live in oakland ktvu, channel 2 news. >> new developments this morning in the investigation into the practice of nevada hospital accused of sending mentally ill patients here to the bay area. commission has made a preliminary decision to

revoke the accreditation. the paper reports three dozen patients discharged in the past five years have been sent to san francisco on greyhound buses without arrangements for housing or medical care. >> time is 8:04. crews have left the scene of that dangerous gas leak that occurred yesterday. it's now been cap. but some of the neighbors were complaining they were not properly warned. happened near stone valley road. part of danville boulevard was shut down for most of the day. east bay mud crews left that scene early today. they accidentally hit the natural gas line yesterday morning. utility company says markings indicating safe places to dig down were not accurate. nearby homes and businesses had to be evacuated. one man said he is signed up to get emergency text alerts but he didn't get

getting the full story. >> only has to show the incidents no longer under investigation by the fbi. the committee found the passage of the current law only 31 crimes on board cruise ships have been reported. nearly 1,000 have been investigated by the fbi. crimes committed against minors on cruise ships don't have to be reported to the public. and only specific types of crimes have to be reported. west virginia senator introduced legislation to make all alleged crimes on cruise ships publically available. >> consumers have no way to find out what their real risks are before they take a cruise. >> his plan would also require video cameras in public areas of cruise ships and make the department of transportation

establish a victim advocate on board cruise ships. that person would help victims get access to appropriate law enforcement officers. maintains a ship is as safe as average community in the united states and the incidents of crime is small considering the large number of passengers. ktvu, channel 2 news. >> antioch man accused of killing two people at a san francisco jewelry store is scheduled to enter a plea next week. that court hearing comes after dozens of family members of the victims attended a court appearance yesterday and demanded justice. >> i want my sister back. >> this is our baby sister. >> i want her to come home. >> barry white appeared in court yesterday on charges that he killed two employees at a jewelry store. prosecutors say a price dispute may have been the motive. we have exclusive video now showing four men detained in a

shooting that wounded two people in san francisco. ktvu shot video of the handcuffed men less than ten minutes after shots were fired. the suspects are accused of shooting a man and a woman yesterday afternoon. but after the shooting, police said the suspects needed gas and spotted at a 76 station. police followed them and arrested them. >> time is 8:15. the florida family rescue d from a car crash by george zimmerman called off plans to publically thanked immaterial. days after he was acquitted of killing trayvon martin, he helped rescue a family. the family was planning to recognize zimmerman as a good samaritan. but zimmerman is quote toxic. they'll worried he'll be linked to him and become victims of protests. >> the city council could take

action against one of his own. an audit found she violated rules when she allegedly interfered in the construction of a teen center in her district. discipline could include censure. san francisco state college professor is running for oakland mayor for the second time. going to challenge the mayor. he received only 12% of the vote in the last race. the chairman of san francisco study department and media political analyst. >> new poll confirming hillary clinton is the frontrunner if she decides to run. 63% of democrats say they would vote for the former secretary of state. joe biden a distant second. that survey did not find a frontrunner.

pushing for safety improvements after a great grandmother was hit and killed at a crosswalk. family members and friends of the 68-year-old woman packed a city council meeting demanding lights and safety features. family members say the city should have made the changes after previous accidents involving pedestrians in that same crosswalk. it's the third fatal accident involving a pedestrian in clover dale in less than three years. a woman has been charged with manslaughter that killed her five year old daughter. charged her with vehicular manslaughter, involuntary manslaughter and four counts of child endangerment. she was speeding when she lost control back in may and the carolled over. her five year old daughter was not wearing a seat belt and she was killed. a 7 year old child, two

teenagers and another adult were also hurt. >> this morning, some political observers are raising questions about the practice of giving free seats in luxury suites to government officials. received more than 40 tickets when the rolling stones played this year. they were worth $600 a piece. government officials have access to baseball, football and basketball games. enough is enough. >> more than 1,000 tickets were given to public employees at san francisco's candle stick park. his office says most of those tickets were given to under privileged children. we posted our special report on our ktvu facebook page. and like to hear what you think. >> all right.

welcome back. time is 8:29. back to the breaking news we've been following. stanford university warning students and staff after an apparent cyber attack on the campus. live at stanford now getting reaction from one of the thousands of people affected by this security breach. >> the way people are finding out about this is through email. send out an email to all of faculty, staff, students letting them know about this cyber attack. university officials don't know how much information or what type has been compromised. stanford is urging students, faculty, staff. anyone who uses computer systems to change their passwords. they are working with law enforcement to determine the impact of the breech and find out who is

behind it. unaware of any protected information or if social security numbers have been compromised. people on campus say they are eager to find out more information. >> i will go check this out and probably change my password on my private page. i'm not really concerned because in the world this happens a lot. i'll do what i can. >> we're told this apparent breech of information is similar to cyber attacks at large companies and organizations in the united states. it is continually upgrading defenses. and realizes the seriousness. a spokes person told me he wasn't sure if any cyber attacks like this have happened in the past.

i also asked them when do they know about the cyber attack but they did not want to release information. but a lot of unanswered questions and as soon as they know more and information they could release, they will let us know. ktvu, channel 2 news. >> the search is on for the person who gunned down a popular dog walker in oakland. it occurred near the woman's home. brian flores is on the street where this deadly shooting happened. >> reporter: good morning. police say they are looking at a couple things that may aid in their investigation. as you can see, we've been here all morning. several people have left candles, flowers, pictures, even several news articles about what happened yesterday. people, residents shocked at what happened yesterday. these are new pictures of the victim identified as 66-year-old judy salovan. constantly seen

walking around here. she was a dog sitter. before 1:30 yesterday afternoon, she was in her gray subaru a few blocks from her home when somebody opened fire. her car was hit and rolled backwards. no other houses or cars were hit. she lived alone with her pets and well liked. at this point, police say it's too early to determine a motive. they are concentrating on searching for suspects. at this time we're not sure of how many suspects. >> this is oakland. you know how our murder rate is. shocking for it to be so close. >> police are looking for two things right now. police say that beer bottles left at the scene, those may have clues on who the shooter was or first-hand witness. the second is because the shooting happened at a nearby cemetery which is

known to have cases. they will be looking at those camera footage to see if there's information there. a neighbor also says judy was interested in starting a neighborhood watch. this is oakland's 56th homicide of the year. live in oakland, ktvu channel 2 news. >> comes after a week after another tragic shooting that killed an 8 year old. she was at a sleep over at a friend's home. someone rang the door bell then fired shots through the front door. an internet gaming cafe appears to reopened after it shut down when a ktvu news crew showed up and started asking questions. the hill internet cafe is back in business. now, when our crew went inside this

week, customers were playing games on computers and winning money. we asked the manager about the legality of the machines that offer cash pay outs. the manager told everyone to leave and closed door. concord city attorney is threatening to file injunction. neighbors complained to us about increase in crimes since that cafe opened. >> the price tag for the grand central station of the west is getting bigger. the center is expected to cost $300 million more than first projected. and that may grow more in the years ahead. the transit hub at 1st and mission is scheduled to open in late 2017. it will serve buses from 7 transit agencies and eventually electric trains. >> police in santa rosa have identified a man accused of killing his wife. happened yesterday at the rimcon valley

mobile estates park. dean called the police and said he just killed his wife. he then took them into his mobile home where they found the body of 64-year-old virginia caytana. it appeared she had been strangled. police still searching for suspects in a deadly attack in the apartment. subsidized housing complex. the victim was 62-year-old woman who lived alone. homicide detectives haven't said how she died but they say she was not shot or stabbed. >> a plan to stop mail delivery to the doors and businesses now goes to representatives. a house committee approved a bill that would keep letter carriers on the streets but the mail will be put in neighborhood boxes. similar to set up at many apartment buildings. supporters say that would save the post office $4.5 billion a year.

it would take ten years for the full plan to go into affect. a rally is planned for saturday to keep the historic berkeley post office from being sold. the postal service says it is moving forward with plans to sell the building. it's not giving up. saturday's rally will celebrate the building's 100th birthday. >> car service uber is expanding. now operating in silicon valley with a lower cost service called uberx. allows people who need a ride to connect with the drivers. a trip from sfo to palo alto cost $60. sunnyvale to san jose $35. the prices are 10 to 15% cheaper than taxi prices. there will be an open house tonight in san francisco about

example, do not allow strikes. it would take a change in state law to legally stop bart unions from striking. bart will bring in charter buses again if there's another strike. just how many buses they'll bring in remains unclear. they plan to add a pick up location that would bring the total up to six locations. one leader says it would take up to 8,000 buses to match the capacity of bart. definitely there are not enough buses to match the amount of riders bart halls everyday. union leaders and negotiates are set to meet again today. hopefully they'll make headway. ktvu channel 2 news. >> time is 8:48. new this morning, new video of the moments when a passenger train derailed in northern spain killing 80 people and injuring 141 more. investigators say the train may have been going too fast around a curb when it derailed. look at that.

the impact split the train in half. this was the deadliest train accident in spain in decades. tampa and florida reopened after a freight train derailed there. 4500 gallons spilled on to the ground. at this point no word of any injuries. >> we're also following developing news where a small plane crashed into a home setting it on fire. this is happening about 40 miles south of indianapolis. you can see the extensive damage to that home. two people on the plane have been rushed to the hospital. we do not know the extent of their injuries. but a woman who lives in the house was not hurt. >> 8:49. new video to show you of the pope's visit to south america. just a little while ago, the pope was mobbed by a big crowd during his tour of
