depot employee. ktvu's jade hernandez is live outside the store to tell us what led up to the gunfire. jade? >> reporter: it appears that a thief was trying to get away with tools and it happened right here at this home depot this afternoon. look at this video. police say this happened around 12:30 p.m. at home depot. two security officers tried to take the man into custody. police say the thief pulled out a gun and shot wan of the officers in the arm -- one of the officers on the arm. the shooter ran from the parking lot, headed east, then north. we spoke to a man who say employees told him the officer shot, was a new employee. >> we pulled in as the first officer arrived. there were hysterical people in the gardening department.

>> reporter: we spoke to home depot speaksman and they said the shooting didn't shut down the store. the man was 30-40 years old with gray hair worn in a ponytail, 6 feet tall and was clothes were discovered at a donut shop. if anyone has information about the shooting they should call police. jade hernandez, ktvu channel 2 news. a san jose police officer is recovering from injuries from a crash last night. the officer slammed into a tree last night around 8:00 p.m. last night and suffered a concussion and back pain. he was following a parolee when the officer lost control of his car. the parolee got away and police are still searching for him. two police officers water hospitalized last night after

being assaulted during a traffic stop. they pulled over a driver before 10:00 p.m. on suspicion of dui when a passenger got out of the car and attempted to free the driver who was being arrested. one officer was ikicked in -- was kicked in the face. both were taken into custody. police are searching for whoever stabbed a robbed people outside of a nightclub. about 2:00 a.m. this morning three people were attacked in the south of market area. one of the victims was stab in the chest. the attacker got away with jewelry. it is not clear if the victims were in the nightclub. members of egypt's muslim brotherhood issued a cry for help to end violence. this comes after police attacks this weekend that killed 72

investigating a head on crash that killed a woman. ktvu's alex savage has more on the investigation. including how fast police believe the drunk driver was going. >> reporter: the violent high speed collision happened at 2:30 a.m. this morning. >> i mean, it was so loud. >> the sound woke him up, who lives feet away. >> we jumped up and took a look out. oh, my god. just look at this. >> reporter: they saw the suv wedged between two parked cars and this black car with its front end crushed. he knew he t was bad -- he knew it was bad. >> sad to see that. >> the woman riding in this car was killed. the coroner identified her of san leandro. the man she was driving driving with was seriously injured and san leandro police say the crash was caused by the driver

santa cruz shoreline police caught 4 men trying to struggle marijuana on to shore. ktvu's ken pritchett tells us what tipped off authorities and where the marijuana may have come from. ken? >> reporter: it was an alert lifeguard that spotted a boat on a beach. the location is north of where we are here in santa cruz on a scenic spot that is north of bonny dune beach. >> reporter: it is the kind of land mark no one would miss, shark tooth beach. this boat and the four men and 1200 pounds of pot, law enforcement says it contained.
