expiration at sunday night before midnight. we're not close. i don't want to give the public any false sense of what's going on. i urge them to contact their board of directors. >> we have work to do. >> we're confident we can get it done. >> reporter: in terms of the august 4th deadline, according to b.a.r.t., if both sides are making progress and nothing has been reached by the deadline, they say both sides could still come to an agreement to extend the deadline and continue talks, meaning that b.a.r.t. trains could be running on monday until they have not reached and agreement. they are meeting today. tomorrow morning at 9:00 is the bulk of the negotiations talking about salary, pension and benefits. we'll we'll track of everything. back to you. >> thank you, brian. well, the fbi announced it rescued 105 children over the weekend forced into

prostitution and 150 pimps were arrested. the largest number of children were in san francisco, detroit, milwaukee, denver and new orleans. children were rescued in 71 other cities. >> this operation targeted venues where girls and adults are operated for commercial sex. that includes street tracks, truck stop, motels, casinos. internet sites, social media platforms and the like. >> the fbi says almost all of the victims are girls between 13 and 17 years old. the san francisco police department is looking for civilian volunteers to be part of the alert program. alert is auxiliary law enforcement team. they will be trained to help police after a disaster with

traffic control, foot patrol and crime reporting. an investigation is underway into the cause of an early-morning fire a -- in a mill valley shop mall. firefighters think the fire may have been sparked by an ali appliance in the laundry room. most of the damage was in the laundry room and attic. a restaurant next door also had smoke damage. they will be closed for business for a while. the sushi restaurant next door has minor smoke damage. once the health department okays that, they will be open again. >> luckily, no one was inside the spa when the fire started. damage estimated to be about $60,000. police in san jose looking right now for whoever opened fire into the garage of a home and injured at least one man. it happened about 9:20 last night at the home on commodore drive.

still not clear exactly how many shooters will be involved. the victim is expected to survive. police say witnesses are not cooperating with the investigation. one man fighting for his life after a shooting in san francisco's richmond district, it happened about 7:00 last night at geary and 29th. >> investigators say the victim was sitting in his car when someone opened fire on the honda civic sedan. we talked to one long-time resident of the richmond district and he says this is usually a very peaceful neighborhood. >> doesn't get any shootings. the last one i heard of was -- had -- it was about 20 years ago. >> police are out there still searching for the gunman. investigators say the shooting appears to have followed a heated argument on the streets. well, libby chaf is holding a meeting tonight, after the shooting of judy solomon last week, this is her. a well-known dog walker.

she was driving her car when someone opened fire on her. tonight's meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. at brookdale children's center. voters in the south bay getting ready to go to the polls tomorrow for a special runoff election. up for babes is the supervisor seat in santa clara's district 2. new at noon, janine de la vega reports on expectations for voter turn out and janine, more on the seat once held by a man who brought scandal to the county. >> reporter: yes. and this position of county supervisor in district 2, holds a lot of prow power because this -- a lot of power because this person, whoever wins the seat, will be making critical decisions for the 2 million people who live in the air yaum the race is down to two women and both camps are hoping voters turn in their ballots. both women are democrats. chavez one the primary election over alvarado but it was so

close, a run-off needed to be held. whoever wins will fill the seat rmerly held by george shirakaw. a team of volunteers are working the phones at alvarado's camp. the registrar's office says they anticipate a low voter turnout of around 20%. >> i think it's a combination of a lot of different things. obviously, it's summertime. voters may be on vacation. this is typical of a special election where you do have a lower voter turnout. low voter turnout is typical in a special election. >> reporter: there are more than 117 registered voters in district 2 but overall, 15% have voted so far. that has both campaigns concerned. there's there's a lot at

eight others arrested in this brawl after a southern california surfing competition. this led to a confrontation between police and violent beachgoers. police used tear grounds and nonlethal gas to break it up. some broke bottles, broke storefront windows and witnesses say this all started when someone was hit we -- by a ketchup bottle that fell out of a second-floor restaurant. that person threw the bottle into the crowd and that triggered the fight. the faa has instituted a rule change at sfo following the asiana's crash. as alex savidge report, foreign pilots have to use instruments to make landings in san francisco. >> reporter: ever since asiana flight 214 clipped the end of the runway and crashed under calm, clear conditions. the faa has seen an unusual increase in aborted landings at sfo. it's a fairly routine maneuver. but still, the faa is now

taking action on this issue calling for all foreign carriers to use a gps system whenever they touch down in san francisco. in a statement, the faa says it took this action after noticing an increase in go-ands at sfo by -- go-ands at sfo. during a visual report, pilots don't rely solely on their instruments and the concern, some pilots may not be as skilled at these touchdowns. so out of an abundance of caution, the faa is pushing for this. this man, flying to tokyo on business, believes foreign airlines shouldn't be singled out. >> it does put me more at ease. i think it's a good move. probably something that should be applied to all of the planes coming in. >> it would put me more at

ease. i think the american pilot should be using that too. >> reporter: normally pilots coming into sfo have the option of using the glide slope indicator to help them land. but that instrument system has been out of service at the airport since early june. the glide slope won't be back up and running until late august. until that time, the faa will continue to ask all foreign carriers to use gps for landings here at sfo. at sfo, alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news. rohnert park police are searching for a man they say caused his brother's death last night. investigators say 26-year-old emanuel sanchez-martinez stole his brother's truck from their home on anson avenue and drove it onto southwest boulevard where he lost control. his two brothers jumped on the

side of the car. emanuel stepped on the gas and they crashed. prosecutors in san francisco reaching out to the banks in kline na -- chinatown. thieves are convincing women to hand over money and jewelry in exchains for money. they are calling it the blessing scandal. prosecutors plan to make a youtube to show the banks what to look for. the san francisco giants were at the white house. that's where president obama honored them for winning the world series last year. >> let's hear it one more time for the world champion san francisco giants! if you want to see more of the giants with the president at the white house today, you can go to tower channel 2 website, ktvu.com. you will find the full video. several bay area flights to hawaii are canceled as residents and tourries are bracing for heavy rains and storms from tropical storm flossie. rosemary says the storm has weakened but it's still packing strong winds. tropical warn,s are in effect for most of the island -- warnings are in effect for most of the island. wind gusts could be up to 40 miles an hour. there's also a chance of flooding and 18-foot waves. and i want to start out taking a look at tropical storm flossie. i believe we have a live shot to show you from maui where you can see the surf and the wind picking up and the rain is

already falling in some cases as well. this is the first tropical cyclone. they are blaiseing for that -- bracing for that. i want to give you a look at flossie. the winds are 40 miles an hour. as dave mentioned, a relatively weak storm. it has to be 39 miles an hour to qualify for a tropical storm. so barely making it there. it's making a path toward the hawaiian islands. here's when we expect today and into tomorrow. later today, into the afternoon, it will cross over maui and then oha u and then -- oahu and then kauaiy. and then it will drop to a tropical depression. rainfall anywhere from 5 to 10 inches in isolated areas. in the mountains areas we could see 15 inches strong enough winds to topple trees, power lines, a dus surf as well as high seas. that's what -- dangerous surf as well as high sea es. that's what they are dealing --

sees. that's what they are dealing with. here at home, we're unseasonably cool. we'll remain that way. the system will be locked in for the next few days. that will keep our temperatures below average for this time of year. partly cloudy skies in some areas at this point. but take a look at where we're socked in pretty good. santa rosa, the entire north bay, san rafael, across sausalito and into the east bay. you have to be right around cordelia before you start to see a break on the east side. cordelia covered in gray, ben near shaw, vallejo -- benicia, vallejo. and -- and we have it on the edge of orinda. we have partly to mostly cloudy skies west of the tunnel. the wind is onshore and is blowing quite strong. through the delta and fairfield. so the pacific cool air continuing to be pumped in

through the delta and the valley this afternoon. temperatures in the 60s. for the second half of the day, low 60s for san francisco. upper 60s in oakland. mid- to upper 70s for concord, livermore, 84 at antioch. that will be one of the warmer locations. as you take a look at the exended it forecast -- extended forecast, we see a gradual warmup. takes us into the weekend before we finally get back in the mid- to upper 80s for our inland locations and around the bay. we'll continue with the 70s. >> so no air conditioning for a while? >> i don't think so. >> okay. thank you. >> you are welcome. when we get back in over two minutes, thousands of jobs available from a popular shopping website, including many jobs right near the bay area.
