complaints that stopped trains and shuttered stations in july. a 30-day contract extension was supposed to change the dynamic between the two sides. it has not. >> the things that we had signed, thought were agreed upon, they came back and said, no, these are no longer -- do we agree to them so we've gone backwards in the last 30 days. >> reporter: 30 days, half of them with the appearance of progress, negotiating teams coming and going, spending hours upon hours in a downtown office building, but ultimately no traction. >> we are not yelling at each other. >> reporter: shouting might be an improvement because what's been happening inside, mostly silence. >> you always have disagreements. there's always different points of view. but at the end, people are willing to say, hey, i don't like this because of this. can you move this. can you do that? that is not happening right now. >> reporter: b.a.r.t. spokesman calls the 72 hour notice disappointing and says the

an unspecified threat. they're taking the action out of an abundance of caution but did not say how long they would remain closed. egypt, iraq, and afghanistan are the focus. sunday is a workday in those countries, but embassies in europe and latin america would be closed that day anyway. an alameda judge accused of stealing $1.6 million from an elderly neighbor pleaded no contest today. paul seemen was arrested in june of hast year after a two-year investigation. today he entered the no plea contest to charges of elder abuse and perjury. instead of a prison sentence he gets five years probation. he is also barred from practicing law in california and is paid about $300,000 in restitution. his sentencing is set for october 22nd. the city of richmond will file a haw suit against chevron

related to hast year's refinery fire. the fire did great harm to the community and chevron needs to be held accountable. it was august 5th when fire sparked from a ruptured pipe and thousands went to the hospital complaining of respiratory problems. richmond will now pursue a lawsuit. the mayor will hold a news conference tomorrow. chevron says a lawsuit would be a waste of the city's resources. california and nevada's lawmakers are going to team up to protect lake tahoe. the lake tahoe restoration act with california senators feinstein and boxer. it would authorize $415 million for environmental projects at tahoe and tahoe basin. a bay area teacher convicted of abusing his young students. >> the facts of this case are

during the 8-day period dubbed the i-80 challenge. highway patrol agencies took part in the safety challenge. from july 24th through the 31st, two people were killed in collisions. those fatalities happened in nebraska and ohio. we have new information about a deadly shooting in antioch. police say a gunman opened fire on two people in a car on delta fair boulevard. the male victim has been identified as 23-year-old lavonte crumby. the other man is from vallejo. in oakland robbers are targeting construction workers. it seems to be happening more and more these days. as ken pritchard tells us, those

a judge in ohio sentenced ariel castro to life in prison for holding three women hostage for more than a decade. one victim made an emotional courtroom speech condemning her abuser. >> reporter: michelle night one of the three women victimized by ariel castro for 10 years, had her moment. >> i will not let you define me. i will live on, you will die a little every day. >> reporter: despite agreeing

who have been victims. ariel castro is sitting in jail waiting for paper work for his transfer to jail on monday. garrett tenney. the board hasn't revealed how many complaints it received but did say it referred an illinois law firm for further investigation. an attorney for that firm may have violated a 45 day waiting period by soliciting the attention of victim on a chinese social media site. he told one news outlet that victims need legal advise. delta airline is launching a new shuttle between san francisco and los angeles. the airline announced it will add one more flight in each

to 1,300 feet. it's deeper, getting up over the coastal hills but it's not way over the coastal hills. it should be a lot warmer with temperatures in the valley reaching the mid- to you arer 80s. mid-70s as you get toward lafayette. mid-80s and upper 80s as you get into the warm spots eastern concord, eastern part of livermore valley. so a nice warm day. probably the warmest day we're going to see for a while because temperatures are going to start to trend down after that as we go into the bay area weekend. the extended forecast temperatures are going to throttle down just a little bit. it's not going to get cold. this pressure is a constant player offshore not just through the weekend but through next week. it's going to continue with this kind of mild, sometimes warm sometimes cool, lots of fog weather pattern. this is a good pattern for firefighters. i say a lot because this is the stresse center and we ve a
