low that's moving into the north. that's going to keep us cool and 60s and 70s and showers. sal. highway 4 looks good. there are no problems. slow westbound 80. police want your help to identify two men posing as pg&e workers and robbing people. they robbed them in the home yesterday. and as we found out, this is the third robbery of this kind. >> police believe they are the ones who robbed several businesses. the starbucks here was robbed and a jamba juice. police say the business robberies were in the last two weeks, the men arrived around

the opening time in orange vests and hard mattes to workers that you see here. they held up the starbucks and the jamba juice and making off with the opening cash. then at 8:30 in the morning. men with a similar description posed as pg&e workers and bound a man, woman and girl in their home which is located on the 1400 block of farrell street. >> they told a resident they were investigating a gas leak. the female allowed the suspects into the home. and they faked working on a heater. they researched the home for 20 minutes after binding the three people with duct tape. they made off with cash and items. the police gave a detailed

description of the suspects in the last hour. they say one of the robbers is a man in his early 30s, african- american, 6 feet tall weighing around 200 pounds. his facial hair was unshaven. a white shirt and blue jeans. the other is described as a hispanic male. and weighing around 150 pounds. he wore a hard hat. they drove away in a gold suv. you should always check utility worker's id badges before letting anyone into your house. the people at the front door of the home. you should look out for the truck because if it is a legitimate worker, there will be a utility vehicle parked in front of your home.

contract talks in the bart contract talks continue with the threat of a strike looming. a board held a hearing into the bitter labor dispute. bart management and unions could not even agree on how much they disagree. management says that bart and unions are still about 100 million apart on terms of a new contract. the unions say the number is lower. >> there is a big gap. they can be closed about but there is a divergence of positions. >> the board will present its findings to the governor who ask the court to order a 60-day cooling off period. the unions are ready to strike if there is no deal by sunday night. check with us here and online for updates. for alert os listen the strike

is on or off, down load the app or like us on facebook. and developing nows in texas. they officials have arrested a man who believed to have killed four people and wounded four. the gunman was arrested at a house in the suburb of desoto where four more people were found shot. the investigation is going on this morning. we'll bring you more details. police are looking for whoever made a bomb threat last night targeting a movie theater. the threat name a text message. and the century theater was evacuated. the one person in the theater heard a fire alarm then the announcement to get out. >> i was trying to get out and people were trying to listen to

the intercomes. but after we came out it is like chaos. now the deputies with bomb sniffing dogs searched that for hours but no bomb was found. and more on the child killed in an east oakland home. they are stepping up patrols and ramping up the operation to curb the violence. they believe that the baby drew jackson and his father were targeted at a home yesterday morning. they say he crept into the yard and fired through a window. >> it is unacceptable that children are shot while they sleep in their bed. >> plans were announced t crack down on the gangs. it has the officers and community members meeting with

gang members and offering support. the time now is 6:06. police now have a suspect and a motive in the vandalism of a church in milpitas. you are outside of the church. good morning. >> good morning. they just opened the doors to the church and they're setting up inside here. i spoke with a volunteer she said she was upset over the damage here. now if you look here you cannot tell there was vandalism done. they spent the day cleaning up. yesterday they found a homeless man in the parking lot who they say is responsible for vandalising $20,000 worth of items in the church. and potted plants benches and candles and items destroyed inside the church and the grounds. and officers arrested the 30 year old michael vick roy.

he was not intoxicated. he said he did it because he was upset he had an argument with his girlfriend. and the church community was shocked over this. and the volunteer we spoke with describes all the damage. >> and the flowers, all the things he destroyed. the statue of the blessed mother. >> we're trying to get the details from the police as far as how this man was able to get into the church. when i asked the volunteer she said she thinks maybe somebody left the front door open. there will be a mass in an hour we hope to speak with the pastor. and we got inside to see if there is any damage that we can

welcome back to the morning news. we want to tell you what is going on in one region of california. a wildfire, huge flames that you can see right now. it is burning about 20 miles west of palm springs in banning. that's where the reporter is this morning. and he is joining us near the

fire lines. this has threatened a lot of homes. rick? >> reporter: that's right, the firefighters worked all night long. and i'm supposed to be at a command post but there are no firefighters or engines, they are up in the mountains fighting this blaze and a growing stubborn blaze it is. up to 6000 acres at this time. we'll get a update in an hour so it is likely to have grown. and orders are in place for several communities. some people are staying fighting it with hoses. they were getting some help. the silver fire now into its 16th hour. it started up in the community

and with the steady winds and erupted to an out of control fire. several stuarts have been destroyed, homes, outbuildings. and new orders are in place for parts of area closer to 190 freeway where we are located. other communities are already evacuated a popit flats and vista grande, 1800 people affected by the fire. many can only hope for the best. could you not see a lot. it came down so fast. then the wind picks up. >> the fire has not been fought without the casualties. we don't know the extent of their injuries. one civilian injured. we understand that person suffered burns and transported to a burn center.

spouses of military spouses could get benefits that's from a memo. and it will provide ten days of leave in same sex relationships so they can travel where they can marry legally. this stems from the decision extending benefits to legally married same sex couples. and back to school time here in the bay area and comes with a smart phone warning for students. the robberies have surged in san francisco. in many cases students are the victims. the principal of one school said they have them stolen as they ride on muni or other public transportation to and from school. the district attorney said he is seeing kids as young as 6 attacked for their smart phones. he is conducting outreach now to make sure students and teachers are aware of the

problem. climate changes have an effect and. and they have gone up 1.5 degrees. the sea level at the tidal gauge went up 8 inches. there are now 30 fewer days where the temperature is below freezing compared to 1910. a poll by the public policy institute found 63% of californiaians believe that the effects are being felt. 22% say that they think the impact will be felt in the future. and 11% say there will never be an impact. 6:20. and traffic for us this morning, how is the commute? >> it is looking good. and the faa released a warning saying they could be delayed an hour and one minute.

mountains. what we're concerned about is lightning strikes and the fire danger today, tomorrow. saturday this far north. there is a bit of rain to the north. 50s and 60s. mild temperatures and socking everyone in up to quincy. so far things are quiet but there in line for a possibility of showers and we are north bay as that low will move in. it will have two speeds though, slow and stop, it will be with us tomorrow. however, it should be strong enough to chew up the fog bank and a possibility of showers. cool pattern. and clear lake at 82. and 7 # fairfield. and 74 sonoma that's cool for them. 80s low for many 77, and it is kind of close the range between the bay and inland. inland are taking the biggest drop. temperatures will be at 70s. and san b red sox uno and sun

in the morning police say the men with a similar description posed as pg&e workers and bound a couple and a girl in their home on the farriel street. >> unless you are expecting a utility company to come out or requested them to come out. show identification or generally after legitimate there will be a truck that's in front of the residence. >> those men beat the male resident and searched the home for 20 minutes and made off with cash. police gave a more detailed description. one is described as a man in his 30s. he is about 6 feet tall weighing 200 pounds. his hair was -- facial hair was unshaven. white shirt and blue jeans. the other hispanic 5'9", weighing around 150 pounds.

he wore a hard hat and vest. now neighbors saw them run from the home and drive away in a gold suv similar to a cadillac. and police say that if someone approaches your door claiming to be a worker you should check the badge. they are linked to all three. police are investigating the shootings last night. and they were wounded in a gunfire. the latest happened at 11 on eastman avenue. police say that two people were shot but they are both expected to survive. there was another in oakland two hours earlier. that happened shortly before 9:00. and he was shot several times

he was rushed to the hospital where he is listed in guarded condition. they are looking for suspects. >> san francisco is hosting a gun buy back event in the mission district in opens of getting some off the streets. the guns can be turned in for $100 no questions asked. assault rifles can be exchanged for 200. it is being held in the parking lot of the u.s. bank at 22 -7bd and cap streets. that runs from 6 to 8:00 tomorrow night. the time now is 6:35. and firefighters investigating a small house fire that happened here on north idaho street. it was put out quickly. no injuries reported. the fire appears to have started near a box. pg&e has been called in to investigate. firefighters are racing to put out this fast moving wildfire down in southern

dallas is in custody. he shot two people at two homes. same sex spouses of military personnel could get benefits by the end of august. that's according to a proposal that's being considered. throughout the morning be have been tracking a fast moving wildfire in river side county. it has destroyed 15 structures and burned more than 6000 acres of land. that's outside of palm springs in the community of banning. and brian flores has a update and why it is difficult to put out. >> we're entering the fire season there. you have dry conditions and brush and fuel. and a fire that's not close to being contained. let's go to live pictures now

and again from. the fire is burning out of control t broke out after 2 p.m. yesterday t charred more than 6000 acres. it is called the silver fire and it broke out after 2 since that time it charred 6000 acres. and three people have been injured including two firefighters and a resident. that resident was airlifted to a hospital. it is at zero contain, it came down fast. the fire is heated into two

any damage. and the candle is the eamericannal light. the holder that is over that it was missing, they think it was broken and vandalized. it is one of many that was destroyed here yesterday. a volunteer shared with us, she showed us the candles and the holders and that are missing. they need to be replaced. they were smashed by a vandal. statues have already been replaced. they went out and bought some yesterday. they're not the original ones that were hire. and it was at 5:30 yesterday morning she found statues broken and everything was overturned. thousands worth of items in and out were trashed. she said there was a maked man sitting outside in the parking lot. police came and arrested him. he said he was not intoxicated but had an argument with his girlfriend. parishioners are upset with the destruction that was left
