this is ktvu channel 2 news at noon. >> good afternoon, i am tori campbell. we begin with developing news on the search for a missing oakland woman sandra koch. police have identified randy alana as a person of interest in this case. several hours ago crews resumeed their search of a three square mile area in vallejo, mike nemack joins us with that. >> reporter: we will get to that in just a bit. we want to get you up to speed on a new development. 10 minutes ago i saw a sheriff's boat being pulled out of the water here so i called him. i said hey what is happening. why are you pulling them out. he said there has been a new development. i said did you find a body. he said i can't confirm that, all i can say is we are expanding to a new area, we will get more on that later he said possibly 30 minutes.

meantime we got new video we shot 30 minutes here north of us shows search and rescue crews pulling and poking at a comforter along the shore and also found an old white boat they left alone but definitely checked out. i would say in all 70 search and rescuers are looking for one missing woman. they are on foot, they are on the water. this is the search for oakland's sandra koch. >> we are also going to use dogs. they do have specially trained dogs that can search lakes. >> the lake is adjacent to 6 flags discovery kingdom and last night police requested the sheriff's office assistance in combing a three mile raid isaround this body of watered and that continues this afternoon. >> investigators received enough information that identified this area as being an area of interest. we want to be able to factually verify whether or whether or not we have identifiable evidence here or if we would have a recovery here.

>> the 50-year-old koch was reported missing sunday night. police say 56-year-old randy alana a convicted rapist and kidnapper is considered a person of interest in her disappearance. he was arrested on an unknown parole violation and was last seen the night she disappeared. >> i can't share with you where they were seen together. >> police say they will stay out here as long as it takes, and that includes other agencies called to find her. >> if something is find or something indicated on the lake via the dog or personnel we do have a dive team that is prepared and will dive if necessary. >> and oakland police say while they are focusing on this area detectives again still pursuing other leads that could take them elsewhere. that goes back to what i told you, a new development as the search expands here in vallejo, live, mike nemack, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you. the father of a six-month- old baby boy is behind bars and

charged with the child's murder. the sheriff's office says deputies responded to a home on buena vista avenue in livermore 11 days ago on a report of an unresponsive infant. he was taken to the hospital with a head injury and died three days later. investigators determined the father was responsible for the injury. livermore police arrested the child's father, 26-year-old robert daily the third yesterday after a brief chase. we have developing news that just came into the ktvu newsroom in the last 30 minutes. the man suspected of kidnapping a teenage girl out of san diego county has been spotted in idaho, the sheriff's office says people on horse back saw james dimaggio and 16-year-old hannah anderson in a rugged area of cascade, idaho. authorities later found dimaggio's car covered in brush. they say the license plate had been removed from the car but

the vin number matched. the horseback riders who spotted dimaggio and anderson said they appeared to be in good health but right now they are both still missing. dimaggio is suspected of killing anderson's mother and another unidentified child, likely her eight-year-old brother and then setting the home on fire, we are now just two days away from another deadline and another possible threat of a strike by bart coming monday morning. negotiations between the two sides resumed just a few hours ago. ktvu's brian flores joins us live to explain where the talks stand and what needs to happen in the next 48 hours to avoid a strike. brian. >> reporter: good afternoon, tory, tensions are high and time is running out in the bart labor talks, a notice may go out to commuters later today but it depends on how the talks are progressing as we speak. the tone at the negotiation table heading into another weekend of talks. >> no one is yelling, screaming, it is just -- it is their talking to you or i am

talking to them rather to me the same way i talking now, i don't raise my voice or yell or scream, they don't yell or scream. >> some are hopeful. >> we are. >> how close are we. >> we are close, we are getting there. >> others are not. >> i don't have hope. i did four days ago. not after yesterday. >> both sides are still far apart on the issues of pay, pension and healthcare. even on sun mental issues like safety still need to be ironed out according to the unions who say they put proposals on the table only to get rejected there are a lot of safety rules in there and work rules and, of course always financials but we need to talk about everything and come to a resolution. >> bart says they will continue to meet for as long as it takes to reach an agreement by sunday but in case there is not 1 the governor can call for a 60 day cooling off period to keep them running but it appears worlds apart. >> as long as we keep meeting

lawsuit over the crash at the airport last month. the latest targets boss asiana and the maker of the boeing 747 and claims pilots training were rushed and boeing could have installed a low speed warning system that might have helped prevent the crash and claimed that passengers in coach seats suffered more serious injuries because of different seat belt configurations. they have not commented on the lawsuit. police are investigating a shooting at an apartment complex that left at least three people injured. it happened after 4:00 this morning at the complex on cunningham avenue. police did not find victims at the scene but two men and a woman showed up at a nearby hospital with gunshot wounds. >> i am really upset because this can happen to anyone, including my, my family, and we need to do something as a

community. >> police do not know who carried out the shooting or what their motive might have been. san jose police have made an arrest in the shooting of a san jose state nursing student. johnny lozano faces homicide charges for the shooting death of kimberly chico, killed early saturday morning by a stray bullet in downtown san jose. police say lozano was arrested yesterday by a member of the gang suppression unit. the oakland police department plans a gun buy-back this weekend. it is scheduled to run from 10:00 to 3:00 at youth uprising at ev11 mcarthur boulevard. police will pay 100 dollars for handguns and 200 dollars for assault weapons, the buy back is restricted to oakland residents. a gun buy-back in san francisco last night took in 157 guns, that is the word from

the office of supervisor david campos. they hope to raise more money to buy more back. they announced the arrest of a former foster parent accused of child molestation, investigators say steven weissman was arrested last week after a teen boy said he was molested by the 57-year-old, investigators later identified a second victim and say they may be more. he has been as forker parent for 16 years and worked in the community with young people. right now 200 high school students on the peninsula are retaking advanced placement tests. the students at mills high school first took the tests back in may but the college board invalidated their scores because it claimed that students were seated too close together. the board is not accusing the

we have breaking news now on the case of the missing oakland woman sandra koch, we understand the search is no longer taking place in the vallejo area, let's listen in to this press conference underway. >> -- sheriff's office search and rescue, they have already been deployed into that area so the search has already begun, it is just a matter of moving the entire operation up there at this point. >> -- up there. >> as long as it takes, the same thing when we were here, we are going to take as much time and do as well, a search as we can, if it runs into saturday then we will continue to search on saturday as well. >> we can assume you have not found anything in this area. >> we have for the found anything of an effortary value or anything that points to mrs. koch at this point.

there on the case of the missing oakland woman sandra koch. they are wrapping up their search. they have finished -- completed their search in vallejo and they are now moving to vacaville. no specific reason as to why they are moving the search to vacaville but we continue -- we will continue to follow this story and bring you updates as soon as we get them. meanwhile moving on to other developing news, a small plane has crashed in a suburban neighborhood in connecticut, setting two homes on fire. investigators say at least three people are missing, including two children inside one of the homes. the federal aviation administration says the aircraft flew out of a small new jersey airport and crashed as it approached an airport in new haven, connecticut this morning. a fast moving fire in southern california has destroyed 26 homes and threatening hundreds more. the so-called silver fire is in a desert mountain range near the town of banning in riverside county, east of los

angeles. fire officials say strong winds are fanning the flames which have torched 16,000 acres. the fire has left 1 man with serious burns. five firefighters were also injured, including two from heat exhaustion, flames forced the evacuation of 1800 people. it is about 25% contained. >> we have fire extreme, erratic. >> understand how fast these fires are moving and getting fire engines to those places is very difficult under those kinds of conditions. >> also in southern california firefighters in san bernardino county are battling a fire in the angeles national forest that has prompted evacuations also and scorched 100 acres since it broke out yesterday. happening now the outside lands music festival just getting underway in san francisco golden gate park, the first performances started 17 minutes ago at noon and as

of sunshine and some of us still socked in, these temperatures right now low 70s and mostly sunny conditions in fairfield, 71 livermore under mostly sunny skies. you can almost point out by the numbers where the low clouds remain. hayward, oakland, santa rosa, yes, under mostly gray skies still at this hour, a look at storm tracker 2 here. so we have the drizzle out there this morning. that has since passed but plenty of low clouds still along the coastline, along the peninsula, into the east bay, and again santa rosa dealing with mostly cloudy skies at this time. if i back it up a bit this system we continue to monitor and will drift north and we will see a warm up in time for the weekend. today temperatures a tad above yesterday's highs and in some cases a lot like yesterday. so if you are going to outside lands for the afternoon temperatures warming to the 50s to low 60s the entire day with partly to mostly cloudy skies.
