catching his killer. new at 6:00 p.m. ktvu's ken pritchett is live in san francisco with the mission for justice. ken? >> reporter: nice to say when you have a mother whose child has been murder you don't know how she feels. she lives in that apartment, when she walks outside she sees this sidewalk where her son was gunned down. it is a reminder every day of what happened and she had that reminder for 7 years. flier with his face has been posted on this pole almost every day since august 14, 2006. she was not here that day but her son was. >> i didn't get to say bye. i didn't get to tell him i loved him. i didn't get to say anything. he died alone. >> reporter: he just left his house when he saw a group of men, two had guns.

the street was crowded. >> he said run. run. and everybody ran. and the person that was left was my son. >> reporter: the mepturned on -- the men turned on her son and shot him 30 years. she comes back every year to seek justice. >> we pray for the perpetrators that you touch their copseiances. she -- consciences. >> reporter: she was joined by police and she also lost a son to homicide and has a $250,000 reward and no answers. >> i have been wondering why this hasn't been solved. >> reporter: losing a son is like an illness. but she will keep coming here as long as it takes. >> i am tired, i am tired of being tired.

but i can't stop. >> reporter: she used the death of her son tabond with other mothers in -- to bond with other mothers in similar conditions. in san francisco, ken pritchett, ktvu channel 2 news. we know the woman killed by construction front loader was a former student headed back to school there. ktvu's robert handa is live in san jose with what she was doing when she got hit and the toll it took on the construction worker behind the wheel. >> reporter: the investigation is still going on to figure out what happened here at this construction site yesterday when the woman was hit by heavy machinery and died. we learned who the victim was, and the efforts to help her family. >> reporter: classes resume at san jose city college in two weeks. she had plans to be -- plans to be part of the school year. it appears she was a former

student in 2009 and on campus yesterday to resume cams. but she -- campus. but she died as she walked pass a construction site. >> i ran into students that know her, said she was dedicated to studies. the feeling on campus is sump that we have lost someone. >> reporter: many students felt the construction site can't hazardous. >> we just walked by there. you know, that same spot. it could have been us. there was no tape blocking off the area till that happened. >> reporter: the pathway is also a fire lane so it can't be blocked off. the front loader has loud reversal arms. the rop iter is off work -- the operator is off work and

from inside the train as it sat. john sasaki talked with a passenger who was in the car about what the experience was like. >> reporter: imagine being on bart in the transbay tube and not moving for 30 minutes. and it is dark. you can see from the photo, riders went through october andly that this morning. -- through exactly that this morning. the lead car lost power. here is a cell phone video of the station where the crowds were lined up. officials say the other 8 cars still had power and there was also smoke in the car. it caused the breaks to lock up so the breaks were smoking. she was in that car. it delayed her for an hour but they faced more immediate problems. >> you get a sense that you are

talks have been scheduled, is the word from bart today when we checked in. the cooling off period means workers can't go on strike. stay with ktvu for the latest on the talks. we will check in every day to find out when the unions and management return to the borgenning table. -- bargaining table. the state supreme court may have brought an end to the lawsuits over same-sex couples in california for now. the court declined to grant a hearing. backers argued lifting the ban should only apply to the two couples who sued to over turn prop 8. same-sex couple resumed in california on june 28. city college of san francisco is fighting to save their accreditation. they held a conference today and said the department of education validates its claims.

he accused the commission of inappropriate penalties against other california colleges. >> we believe that the damage done over the last decade is not limited to city college of san francisco. >> they criticized the review process and its recommendations to city college. they say they will address the concerns and issue a response in december. at this hour, police are looking for two men who robbed a bank today. it happened after noon at the u.s. bank. officers say the men jumped the counter and pointed guns at the workers. one forced the manager to get money from the vault. investigators describe them as 5'7" to 5'10", and drummed into a red truck -- and jumped into a red truck. closing arguments in the joseph naso murder trial were

delayed today. last friday a brother of a victim parked his truck in the lot with writing in the window that read joseph naso murdered my sister. a hearing was held that determined none of the jurors could have seen the sign. after the hearing the prosecutor described to the jury the death of the 18-year- old whose body was found in 1977. evidence links joseph naso to the death and three other deaths. >> i am not going to feel better. it will be closure. but still going to miss her. >> joseph naso is acting as his own attorney. he will give closing arguments on friday. calling on governor jerry brown to stop an inmate hunger

strike by putting an end to solitary confinement. supporters showed a replica of a secure housing unit cell. they want the state to the end practice of keeping prisoners in the windowless cells for years. officials argue it is organized by gang member whose have their own agenda. >> the real intention is to allow gang leaders to get out into the general population. >> you are trying to mask what the real issue is. how do we make the better. >> 4500 california prisoners are being held in solitary conintoment. officials conintoment -- confinement. so far the governor had no comment on the protest. a court will hear a challenge to the law allowing

police to collect dna from people they arrest. they put the case on hold earlier while the u.s. supreme court reviewed a similar law. they upheld the law ruling the collection of dna after an arrest is similar to photographing or finger printing. the case will go before the appeal's court in december. labor day is two weeks ago but the chp will start its crack down on drunk driving the day after tomorrow. it will include check points. officials say every year a third of all vehicle deaths involve one or more drunk drivers. it runs through labor day september 2. coming up, what will it take to get the new bay bridge open? the two projects that must be completed first. >> an evacuation order sent to an entire county.
