inside of a car. again, northbound 880. traffic will be slow as you approach the area. trying to get last-minute information. we do know that the victim is conscious and breathing but trapped inside the car. this accident just happened a few moments ago and paramedics and fire have just arrived on the scene. let's look at the commute on interstate 880. the traffic here is moving along pretty well as you drive north and southbound, driving past the coliseum. no major problems here. to the toll plaza westbound, traffic is moving along nicely once you get on to the bridge. no problems by the way on 580 or 880. let's go to steve. >> our system is rotating to north and the low taking the

moisture with it. last night's show is pushed far enough away from us that there's fog. however now that it's there, it could bring in showers. still the red flag warning out. dry lightning we call it. the bay had a downpour overnight as well, down towards a few areas picked up measurable rain. most of it was a good lightning show. that will continue but it pushes away north to us. so fog, sun, cloud, mostly sunny for a while. it will not be as hot as yesterday. that's for sure. if you didn't have the cloud cover, temperatures rocketed up. there's a good sea breeze out towards travis. we're not done yet. 60s for many. hot down in the desert. expect that the lightning will redevelop up in the sierra again. 60 on the temps. cooler than yesterday. and a lot of the moisture will continue to move out of the area towards men did mendocino

county. highs today, 90s inland. 60s and 70s closer to the coast and the bay. >> 4:31 is the time right now this morning. police in san jose are looking for suspects in a shooting at a vietnamese restaurant. one person was killed, two others wounded. jeanine joins us from the scene in east san jose. >> reporter: police are on the scene at this vietnamese restaurant located on allen rock avenue near capital. it is dark, but we have been told there is damage to the building from the bullets that went flying inside. police were called to the hong- hong restaurant last night. there were about 15 people

inside of the restaurant at the time of the shooting. one man died from wounds, the other two suffered from nonlife- threatening injuries. >> at this point, we're not exactly sure the motive of the shooting or, you know, any suspect information. just that it appears that the rounds were fired from the outside into the establishment. and at this point, that's all we have. >> reporter: it's unknown if the actual restaurant or anybody inside was targeted or if this was a random shooting. witnesses have been interviewed, but there is no suspect information and no arrests have been made. so not too much information to go on. we're told that homicide detectives will most likely be out here later, following up. we do not know who the homicide victim is because it's too early. we do know that it appears that police tell us that the victims were most likely in their 40s and they were all asian males. coming up later in the morning

california this morning. cal fire has staffed reserve engines and brought in extra firefighters. yesterday we were at the cal fire air attack base at the sonoma airport where we watched a plane launch to fight a fire. that plane was forced to return to the airport because thunderstorm activity made it too dangerous to fly. >> flying conditions can be extreme. turbulence, wind, visibly, depending on the, you know, clouds. but it can be extreme. of course we're flying at a low level. >> reporter: cal fire pilots say their goal is to get to fires fast and have them out before they grow beyond five or ten acres. crews are hoping to get a break with the weather today and plan to be back up in the air later this morning, ready to respond to lightning-strike fires that pop up. there is the possibility of more lightning strikes as we

contained. in butte county, firefighters are closer to containing a fire there. one home has been destroyed. yesterday afternoon, about 400 evacuees were allowed to return to their homes. containment at 64%. one of the main entrances to yosemite national park has been shut down because of a fire. but stat route 120 yesterday, shutting it down in both directions, people are being rerouted to state route 41. some structures out there have been destroyed. campgrounds are also being evacuated. >> a woman in danville was seriously hurt after being hit by a car while crossing the street. it happened around 9:00 last night on camino tasahara road. the road was shut down for several hours. the woman is in critical but stable condition.

her name has not been released. the california highway patrol has released its report on the deadly limo fire on the bridge three months ago. five women were killed when the 1999 lincoln town car they were riding in burst into flames. they have ruled the fire was an unforeseeable accident and the limo driver will not face any charges. >> it was the catastrophic failure of the rear suspension system that allowed the vehicle's drive shaft to come into contact with the floor pan. >> investigators also concluded the limo driver was not on a cell phone at the time of the fire as previously reported. >> we are hearing more about a deadly hit and run crush in san jose. he was hit and killed by a pickup truck at about 8:45 saturday night. witnesses were able to describe the truck to investigators, but they say it was too dark to see the driver.

ford's neighbor say he went for a walk around the same time every night. >> i think that's horrible. i think anybody that would just leave somebody out in the middle of the street like that, i think it's horrible. >> investigators say they have a good description of the truck involved. now, they are being looinger faux a '90s ford pickup truck with front edge damage. it is white or light colored with a red stripe down the hood. if you have seen that truck, the chp is asking you to call them. >> we have new information about the arrest of a surf instructor in santa cruz who accused of molesting minors. police are now saying that the investigation could be handed over to the federal government. 38-year-old dylan griner is accused of making inappropriate advances and taking photos of two teenage girls. he was arrested friday. police have received calls from possible victims families living as far as new york. he is expected in court tomorrow. >> the opening of the new span of the bay bridge is one step

closer this morning. the temporary fix for those broken bolts is now complete. cruises finished installing steel shims over the weekend. the repair isn't going to be ready until december. but today the bridge oversight committee will give an update on the construction that will take place before the bridge is closed next week. ktvu news has learned that bart plans to have 14 stations operating around the clock during the bridge closure. they will remain open 24 hours a day beginning august 28th. they will offer overnight service to bart riders all around the bay. they will run longer trains during the day. bart will provide special service for weekend events. don't expect any huge traffic problems during that five-day bridge closure. >> in previous years, things -- things slowed down a little bit

morning news. a disturbing incident being investigated in san francisco. a man tried to set a homeless person on fire outside of the 16th and mission bart station. now, a viewer sent ktvu news a video of the incident that happened saturday night. bart police say they could have intervened but no one even reported it. >> if there is somebody that they feel that needs, you know, assistance, officers will come out here and do a welfare check and then make a recommendation. >> bart police say they also work with mental health professionals to try to help the homeless. they still do not know why the man was trying to set the homeless person on fire. the largest number of crimes reported last month was at the oakland coliseum bart station. oakland was died for second. fruit vail ranked 3rd. 16th and mission was not even on the list. >> later today a funeral will

be held for a father shot and killed two weeks ago, along with a 1-year-old son in east oakland. andrew thomas and his son drew were shot to death as they slept at a relatives home. baby drew was laid to rest on friday. so far no arrests have been made in that case. a $30,000 reward is being offered in the case. we have new details about the man killed in a shootout with the fbi after alleging a 16-year-old from southern california. a spokesman says the suspect left $112,000 to hannah anderson's parental grandmother. hannah was abducted earlier this month. her mother and brother were found dead inside of a burned home. they are not sure why the money was left to the family but believed it was to benefit hannah. the trial has begun for an ex officer accused of being part of a dirty dui scheme. former private investigator christopher butler had steven arrest certain men for dui. in exchange, butler gave him
