we learned earlier today with caltrans briefing, there is a chance that it can open early. alex savidge will describe it and we will have more. goods afternoon, alex. >> reporter: it as distinct possibility according to one official. they are in full swing. it is happening on two fronts. workers are in here and setting up the caltrans warehouse. this is where the grand opening ceremony for the new bridge will take place three hours from now. there is also work. some last minute work happening out on the eastern span i say self. they are getting the $6.4 million bridge ready for its debut. this is the much anticipated opening. crews are busy during the five day closure and tons of debris that has to be cleared off the new bridge.

the head of the metropolitan commission said today is a long time coming. >> we are excited and there is anticipation. you know, maybe even a little bit melancholy about the big endeavor. so many people have been involved with for so many years. it is coming to an ends. >> they are setting up tables and preparing food for the grand opening ceremony this afternoon. it will happen inside the large caltrans warehouse. they will speak and the mayors of san francisco and oakland will be on hand and the pacific boy choir academy will sing the national anthem. >> they were happy to use the day off from school to come here to sung. didn't have any problems getting lots of people to come. >> reporter: there will be a

janine de la vega. they are searching for a second robbery suspect after an hour and a half long standoff. two armed men approached a woman outside midnight outside a home on shane drive. they demanded her belongings. they crash the the car and ran into the house where they were holed up for hours. >> once the s.w.a.t. team came on scene, a male broke the perimeter from the address and then was apprehended a short time later. >> police believe the second suspect left the area. no word on his identity and he is believed to be armed and dangerous. there is now a $10,000 reward for a deadly shooting that happenedded this weekend in oakland. a 48-year-old map was killed outside an apartment building on daisy street. just blocks from the mill campus. he went there to meet a friend
