good morning. welcome to morns on -- mornings on 2. >> i'm mike mibach. are we in for a repeat? let's check with rosemary to see what the forecast will be like. >> for many the weather will peak 100 degrees for inland communities. we do have areas that won't be as warm and chances are you know who you are because we're waking up with patchy fog along the coastline and just inside the bay. some of our areas inside the coast as well as the bay will actually be slightly cooler for the second half of your day. we're waking up with 50s and 60s. partly sunny at the coast. warm to hot, especially for inland communities once again and for the inland communities the heat will peak on monday. i'll have a look at what you can competent today in the extended forecast, when the cool-down will begin coming up. new this morning, what was

supposed to be a fun night in antioch ended in gunfire. it happened on west 10th street in the costa contracounty fairgrounds. >> shots were fired outside of the paradise skate rink, just behind us here. it appears as though the shots were fired in this parking lot area where you can see crime scene investigators and detectives out here collecting evidence this morning. this is on the contra costa county fairgrounds site. the shooting happened this morning while there was an event going on inside the venue. according to the website, paradise skate was holding an adults only late night skate jam that was supposed to go to 3:30 this morning. there was some kind of an argument between several people inside the skate rink. that dispute spilled outside and that's when someone

opened fire. the sheriff's office doesn't have any information on the victims involved here, their ages. again though, one of them did die according to the sheriffs lieutenant we talked to this morning. two others taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds. we don't have an update on their exact conditions. as we bring you back out here to a live picture this morning, the entire parking lot has been blocked off by sheriffs investigators as they collect evidence and at this point they're still searching for the shooter who opened fire on several people outside of the paradise skate rink near antioch. a man is on the news in san jose accused of stabbing his wife to death just after 10:30 last night. emergency dispatchers received a report of a stabbing on dakota drive and springfield way near the east capital expressway. police went to the scene and found a woman had been stabbed at least once. officers tell us she was in her 40s and had a couple of children. investigators say

they believe the homicide was a case of domestic dispute. police in san jose have taken a man in to custody involved in friday night's deadly shooting. shots were fired on gilcrest drive. anthony zumini was pronounced dead at the scene. police have yet to release the suspect's name but they say knew each other. firefighters are preparing for another hot day hoping to prevent quick erupting fires like yesterday's blaze. it began around 2:00 yesterday afternoon. the fire burned 40 acres. firefighters did stay late at the scene late last night to guard against flare-ups. the blaze threatened 100 structures and damaged at least one car. >> the headlight piece is melted and the front grill is melted. and the bumper is melted. >> the fire came dangerously

close to mills montessori school. the school should be open tomorrow but the classrooms do still smell smoky and the playground is soaked and covered with fire retardant. no one was hurt. the cause of the fire is under investigation. firefighters are looking for the cause of a fire that destroyed a house and severely damaged another. it began on a home on orange tree avenue. when firefighters got on scene the flames already engulfed the first house and had started to spread to the second. investigators still trying to figure out what caused a fire that destroyed a building in stockton at 6:15 last night at the union street ice house building. firefighters say black smoke could be seen up to 40 miles away. part of the building collapsed but no one was hurt. the building was empty and under renovation, supposed to house a new company. in san francisco the summer

fog stayed away yesterday. visitors and residents of the city took advantage of the 83-degree weather in the city. according to the thermometers, san francisco was 6 degrees warmer than malibu. -- >> it's nice to be in san francisco when the whether is like this. it happens so rarely. beautiful sunshine, beautiful people, beautiful city. >> even with the big crowds and strong currents there were no problems reported yesterday as beach-goers were able to stay safe. due to the fire danger allen rock park will be closed today. park officials made the announcement yesterday saying the high temperatures and dry brush are not a good combination right now. the 720-acre park is a popular spot for families especially on the weekends, featuring trails and active mineral springs. time now is 7:06. it was warm yesterday. i was thinking that even a couple of degrees

would have made a difference of too hot which is maybe what we'll get today. >> you're right. livermore expected to hit the century mark once again. the heat will be on in some areas. but we do have changes in the forecast this morning. a quick switch and the marine layer has deepened just a bit and it's enough to bring some fog and low clouds to the coast. parts of san francisco just inside the bay. santa rosa reporting a little bit of fog this morning. ridge of high pressure still strengthening. we're looking at still a big heat-up. mow the fog and the low clouds coming in to play and that will make a difference for some of us for the afternoon. pacific satellite view, ridge of high pressure strengthening off the coast. the warm sinking air associate would the ridge of high pressure is now beginning to squish that marine layer down

because we have the fog this morning, we're waking up with a little bit of patchy dense fog. santa rosa, visibility quarter mile to half mile. half moon bay reporting quarter mile. even though the locations have changed, with the fog with us that has led to different changes for the forecast this morning. along the coast over parts of the north bay, because mow the sinking air painting it closer to the ground and we're dealing with pretty thick fog along the coastline. you get inland and there is plenty of sunshine to be had once again. we'll have plenty of sunshine for the second half of the day. to get in a little bit closer you can see how the fog has crept in around the american canyon here over parts of the north bay, even a little bit of thick fog to drive through if you have an early morning commute. the onshore breeze through fairfield, 10 miles per hour. so actually a little stronger than yesterday but not enough to cool you down in to the afternoon. upper 90s in the forecast for fairfield. once again, 61 right now. 56 in

another warm day in store. however, not as warm in the city of san francisco. we're greeted by patchy fog this morning. the classified intelligence records indicate american companies may have helped syria amass one of the world's largest stock piles of chemical weapons. the new york times reports through loopholes and lax ed international enforcement, syria obtained the weapons over the past several decades from the help of the soviet union, iran, and a handful of u.s. companies. the white house is drumming up support against syria by releasing graphic images of last month's alleged chemical attack as well as sending secretary of state john kerry to sway european leaders. >> we in the united states know and our french partners know this is not the time to be silent spectators to slaughter. >> president obama does not have much time left to persuade congress to authorize military action. lawmakers return to

weapons. activists plan another demonstration this morning at 10:00. they'll march from senator dianne feinstein's home from the golden gate bridge. there will be a rally on the san francisco side of the bridge at 1:00. people in support of military intervention are also making their voices heard. they held a demonstration at union square yesterday. organizers from the syrian-american council say something must be done to stop the regime from killing civilians. they say the war is ignoring a huge humanitarian crisis. there are conflicting accounts about a deadly air strike in eastern afghanistan. afghan officials say yesterday's attack killed six militants and nine civilians including women and children. nato says it only hit enemy forces and no civilians. civilian deaths have lodge been a sore point. s.w.a.t.

officers in arkansas said they had no choice but to shoot and kill a 107-year-old man. police were called to a home of an aggravated assault. when police arrived they say the man started shooting at them. a s.w.a.t. team was called in. when negotiations failed, police say the suspect opened fire again and that's when the s.w.a.t. team shot and killed him. a large drug bust made at sea. showing off over 1200 pounds of cocaine, a street value of $20 million. a vessel was smuggling the drugs. two are arrested and facing charges. a california utility company is requesting nearly a billion-dollar bailout from its customers. san diego gas and electric co-owns the san onofre power plant. they want to collect $8 million from customers. san diego gas and electric is asking the

california public utilities commission for permission to go ahead with the plan. there's a new development involving the domestic spying program. according to the german magazine derzspiegel, they can access it on all major smart phones. british intelligence describing cases where agents cracked codes on mobile devices such as iphones, blackberries, and androids. they say these techniques are used to eavesdrop on specific individuals. the latest version of the iphone could come with a brand new security feature. the cupertino company is expected to unveil the other phone 5s on thursday and there are rumors there is a fingerprint recognition feature to unlock the phone. apple may release a cheaper version of the iphone available in a variety of

skinner and bonta will urge members to support the measures. the event will feature community and religious leaders, law enforcement officers and families of shooting victims. the feds are warning u.s. law enforcement agencies and american government offices overseas to be on alert. authorities say there's no instruction of any specific plot related to 9/11, but both the fbi and homeland security department have issued the alerts in recent weeks. possible alerts include cyber attacks. they're the heroes of 9/11 who sacrificed their lives to save others. fire crews across the nation are spending this week honoring the 343 new york firefighters killed 12 years ago. a group of texas firefighters held a memorial climb in their honor yesterday. the firefighters went up a high

rise to represent the new york firefighters who scaled the twin towers that fateful day. >> it's a good reminder of what our brothers and sisters went through on that day. it really puts it in perspective. >> wisconsin firefighters held their own memorial stair climb. they hope to raise money with proceeds going to the national fallen firefighters foundation and nypd foundation. the bay area will hold numerous events commemorating 9/11. a concert and candlelight memorial are set. a remembrance and vigil will be held at 4:00 p.m. on the over crossing of highway 24, the lafayette, walnut creek border. a south bay native who joined the military after 9/11 is being remembered as well. pat tillman gave up a career in the nfl to enlist in the military. he was killed in afghanistan back in 2004.

he attended leland high school in san jose and arizona state university. the college has changed the tunnel inside the football stadium in tribute to tillman. his initials and number 42 will be the last thing the players see as they enter the field. 9,000 runners will be added to next year's boston marathon. the association says the entries were to help accommodate 5,000 runners who could not finish the race in april after two bombs went off near the finish line. three people died and 260 others were injured. the group will plant yellow daffodils along the race route as a sign of rebirth. the final victim of the boston marathon bombing is back home in southern california. john spent several months in rehab. shrapnel severed arteries in both legs. after 11 surgeries he says he is looking forward to the simple things in life. >> tomorrow get up in the morning, take a walk down the beach, grab a cup of coffee,

hopefully we see the dolphins in the water. >> he says he'll return to boston next year to watch his nephew run the marathon. dozens of motorcyclists ran together in honor of missing oakland toddler, daphne webb. the east bay dragons motorcycle club teamed up with the mac b foundation to host the love run. riders road from oakland to vallejo. daphne was reported missing on july 10th. her father told police she disappeared from his car in oakland. there is a $20,000 reward for information leading to daphne's whereabouts. she will be two years old next month. all the lanes of highway 35 year los gatos were blocked. one person was pronounced dead at the scene. two others were air lifted the hospital. no word yet on their condition. the crash is under investigation. a suspected dui driver is

behind bars accused of a crash that injured two cyclists and damage adpower -- damaged a power pole. it happened near petaluma road. the highway patrol says the driver hit one of the cyclists, then crashed foot the pole. another cyclist collided with the downed power line l. three had to be sent to the hospital. the road was closed for hours while pg&e worked on the damage. the price tag now stands more than $89 million. the fire has burned more than 252,000 acres and is 80% contained. there are 3400 people working to get the fire to full containment. it's the third largest in california history. officials say it could cost tens of millions of dollars more to fix damaged habitat before the rainy season. a route in to yosemite national park is back open after

being shut down because of the fire. state route 120 from groveland to the park is the main entrance from the san francisco bay area. drivers are being advised stopping on the roadway is prohibited due to continued fire activity. environmental scientists are at yosemite this weekend trying to figure out how to protect the hetch hetchy reservoir from storm runoff. about 5 square miles of the burned area of the reservoir which serves about 2.8 million people. officials say the water remains usable despite falling ash. and the american fire may be out in the tahoe national forest but a closure order of the area is still in effect. the fire burned over 25,000 acres and was contained on august 9th but unstable trees can fall at any time. there are large rocks at risk of falling on roads and trails. no word on when that area will reopen. more fire danger today as the temperatures heat up once

[ laughter ] it's going to be another hot one inland. along the coastline we're seeing changes this morning. that will actually lead to a bit of a cool-down. if you're thinking of heading to the coast for the afternoon, still going to be mild, just not as warm as we were yesterday. a look here at the low clouds that have moved in across and in to the east bay this morning. so along the coastline in the bay, reporting fog this morning. so the offshore flow has weakened just a bit allowing the marine layer clouds back in to the forecast for some of us. here's a comparison. along the coast just inside the bay for some places, not as warm as yesterday. 88 in oakland yesterday. today we're looking at 84. san francisco, you'll be mild, just not as warm. napa, shaisk off a few degrees but well inland we are not going to see the influence of the marine

temperatures have been above 100 degrees. the heat compared with extreme humidity led to several 911 calls. >> once we got a couple kids from dehydration and heat exhaustion, then it was probably time to shut it down. meanwhile, check this out. there was heavy rain in other parts of southern california. that led to flooding. san bernardino county was under a flood advisory yesterday but conditions are expected to get better today. a fast moving flood in utah forced over 100 families out of their home. police recorded this video in the highland area, just outside of salt lake city. that debris flow right there damaged multiple homes. emergency officials say it could have been much worse. that area was burned by a wildfire last year. so the town was prepared for potential flooding. a parachutist is recovering from leg injuries after landing in discovery bay last night on

learning lane near bixler road before 7 p.m. police are still investigating why the parachute plummeted to the ground and how high it was flying. the powered parachute has wheels and a motor. they're typically flown between 500 and 1500 feet and people do not need a license to operate the machine. nasa engineers have fixed the equipment issue on the robotic moon explorer. engineers first spotted the glitch a day after the launch. they say there was a problem with the space craft's reaction wheels. a spokesperson from nasa is says the glitch should not affect any research. the was launched from virginia friday night. the data it collects will be used to study moon dust and the moon's atmosphere. tokyo is celebrating this morning after it was picked to host the 2020 olympic games. quite a reaction as you can see

now that football season is officially here you might soon feel the effects of game day on your wallet if you haven't already. a new study shows nfl teams are charging on average $82 a game for season ticket holders, up 3% from last year. tack on the average parking at $31 and beer at $7, most fans are dishing out $209 on game day. out at candlestick it costs $30 to park in most lots. a beer is about $8 a pop. while the nfl season is just beginning, officials are already looking ahead to the super bowl. pop star bruno mars has reportedly been named to take the stage during this year's super bowl halftime show. an official announcement may come as early as today. the super bowl will be played at metlife stadium, east rutherford, new jersey.

rosemary following the rising temperatures. >> good morning to you. the heat will be on once again for the inland cities but where the heat will be cut short, along the coastline. chances are if you're along the coast you know what i mean. the patchy fog as moved in to portions of the bay. we'll have a look around coming up in a moment. temperatures ranging from the 50s to 60s outside your door right now. for the afternoon, a warmup in store for most. i'll have a look at those numbers and in the extended forecast, a cool-down. the heat is expected to peak on monday. i'll have a look at the extended forecast coming up. new this morning, gunfire erupts outside of a roller skating rink in costa contra county. investigators search for that gunman. alex? >> good morning . there was an argument of some kind outside of this roller skate rink early this morning. according to sheriffs investigators that's what led to the deadly shooting that happened inside the parking

lot. crime scene tape is still blocking off the area around paradise skate here at the costa contra county fairgrounds. sheriffs investigators have been here all morning long collecting evidence. they are working hard this morning trying to track down the shooter who was involved here. let me show you some video because not long ago we saw several people who appeared to be employees of the skate rink driving away from the scene. none of them wanted to talk with us about what happened. investigators say one person was shot to death and two others were wounded. shots were fired just about 1:30 in the morning while there was an event of some kind going on inside the venue. according to its website, paradise skate was holding an adults only late night skate jam scheduled to go until 3:30 this morning. according to a sheriffs lieutenant who talked with us this morning there was some kind of argument from several people inside the rink. that dispute spilled outside and that's when someone opened fire in the parking lot.

the sheriff's office doesn't have any information on the victims involved, but again, one person left dead after this shooting. two others rushed to the hospital with gunshot wounds. we don't know their conditions this morning. but again, an active crime scene here in the parking lot of paradise skate near antioch. this is on the contra costa county fairgrounds. an active crime scene going on here. sheriffs investigators trying this morning to find the person responsible for this deadly shooting. and police this morning are searching for a man in san jose accused of stabbing his wife to death just after 10:30 last night. emergency dispatchers received a report of a stabbing on dakota drive and springfield way near the east capital expressway. police went to the scene and found a woman who had been stabbed at least once. officers tell us she was in her 40s and had two children. investigators say they believe it all started as a domestic dispute. police in san jose have taken a man in to custody

involved in a friday night deadly shooting. shots were fired at about 9:40 p.m. on gil crest drive. police say anthony zumini suffered one got shot wound. he was pronounced dead at the scene. authorities have yet to release the suspect's name but say he and zumini knew each other. firefighters are preparing for another hot day hoping to avoid quick erupting fires like yesterday's san francisco blaze. that grass fire began around 2:00 yesterday afternoon. the fire burned 40 acres and firefighters stayed at the scene overnight to guard against flare-ups. the blaze threatened 100 structures and damaged at least one car. >> the headlight piece is melted and the front grill is melt ed and the bumper is melted. >> the fire did come dangerously close to mills montessori school. the teacher says the school should be open

tomorrow but the classrooms are smoky and the playground is soaked and coated with fire retardant. no one was hurt and the cause of the fire is now under investigation. more warm weather is expected today across much of the bay area even in san francisco where the summer fog stayed away yesterday. visitors and residents of the city took advantage of the 83-degree weather. according to those thermometers, san francisco was 6 degrees warmer than malibu. >> it's nice to be in san francisco when the weather is good like this. it happens so rarely. the beautiful sunshine, beautiful people, beautiful cy and indian summer is the best time of year here. >> park police say even with the big crowds and strong currents there were no problems reported yesterday as beach-goers stayed safe. due to fire danger allen rock park in san jose will be closed today. park officials made the announcement yesterday saying high temperatures and dry brush are not really a good combination right now. the park is a popular place for people especially on weekend.

gun control laws. proposals include banning kits that build the gun in to illegal firearms. east bay assembly members skinner and bonta will hold an event. as we approach the anniversary of 9/11, the fbi is warning government offices over seas to be on alert. there's no indication of any specific plot related to 9/11, but both the fbi and homeland security department have issued the alerts in recent weeks. possible dangers include cyber attacks by the syrian electronic army. a south bay native who joined the military after 9/11 is being remembered as well. pat tillman gave up a career in the nfl to enlist in the military. he was killed in
