postgame edition of channel 2 news. we begin with breaking newses in contra costa county. a grass fire is threatening homes in clayton. we have the latest on evacuations. >> there's a fierce firefight over that hill. you can see where there's so much smoke above. helicopter are getting water on to this fire, they have been for the last couple hours. we were on the other side of the ridge as this was going on and it spread to 450 acres. this is the morgan fire. it runson morgan territory road. a large area of horse ranches on one side of the road and the east side of mt. diablo is on the other side. it's hard to access for the 450

firefighters out here. it's been an air attack, helicopter just running back and forth, making water drops from a pond. they are trying to slow the advance of the blaze and it's nerve-wracking for residents. >> a huge flame, from the deck we've a view of the fire, seeing lots of really tall flames break out, and black smoke, which is not good. >> for most of the afternoon evacuations have been voluntary. about 4:30 cal fire called for mandatory evacuations occur icahnion road and oak hill lane. that's 75 households clearing out. at last word this light breeze we have was moving the fire south, again it has been burning for four hours and is 10% contained. that number may be improving

and we'll get annum date on that -- an update. we'll -- they want to get a full line before it gets dark. inside the fire area i can tell you there's no panic. the households have a lot of animals, so packing up and moving out is not so dimple, for some this is something they have been preparing for the last couple hours and are on standby. one things that a challenge, a lot of spectators have driven this direction and have clogged up the two lane road. morgan territory road making it difficult for those who live there but for the fire engines. cal fire would appreciate it if the spectators watch from afar instead of trying to get in.

the morgan fire on the east side of mt. diablo. reporting live, debra see leon. >> we have more, there's a mandatory evacuation issued in the last hour. for those on oak hill lane and curry canyon road. go to diablo view school. those who cannot physically leave should call 911 for assistance. firefighters battling a fire in sonoma county. the fire started at 1:30 and spread to a pallet factory. five structures burned in a spectacular fire. exploding propane tanks. we are hearing that fire officials believe it may be arson.

mark has been tracking the increased fire danger around the bay area. he's joining us now. we have talked about an increase in the fire danger with a ramp up in temperature back up in the mid- to upper 90s. we've watched all afternoon with the smoke plume. depending with the smoke could have air quality issues. this smoke is visible across the area. this green area is the par tick mat -- particulate matter. heat has been the story. 93 in san ramon to 97 in walnut creek. there's morgan territory road to marsh creek road and mt. diablo and the slopes an increase in the activity. that's the latest with the

was walking on the elevated pedestrian walkway when he fell. medical person and police tried to give the man first aid, but they were unable to revival him. the debate over an american military strike in syria is causing sharp divisions in the bay area. protesters took their message to a bay area landmark. >> reporter: they chose the golden gate bridge to get their message out. >> hey, hey, barack, take your noble peace prize back. >> protesters shared here message and marched. demonstrators voiced their opinions against the involvement in syria. no war in syria. we're outraged that the congress is not listening to

the american public. they are saying no to military attacks on syria. many fear even a limited strike could lead to more. >> i feel strongly the united states needs to get out of the middle east. we've spent 10 years or more in iraq. and now we're moving in to a neighboring country. others field the u.s. should intervene. >> i'm for limited military strike. i don't want another war. we've lost too many in the iraq war and afghanistan. >> and some locals and the syrian council say u.s. action is needed. they want an end to the assad regime and the weapon attack on the syrian people.

someone opened fire outside the place around 1:30 this morning. a 31-year-old woman was killed and two men wounded. >> it's scary, frightening. >> he was one of more than 100 people inside the roller rink at the time. he saw two groups arguing and a man pulled a gun. i seen the hand go up with the gun, it was like put it back in. that's when everybody starting scattering. the dispute spilled outside. it's unclear if the shooting victims were the intended targets. >> it was an adult only late night jam. it was supposed to go to 3: 30 in the morning. we saw several people who appeared to be employees driving out of the crime scene, no one wanted to talk and no one from paradise skate could

want to take you back to our developing news at mt. diablo. the fire is burning on the sides of mt. diablo. a mandatory evacuation in planton, the evacuations for the oak hill lane and curry canyon road areas according to fire protection. the grass fire is 300,000- acres, you can see the smoke coming from the scene. firefighters are trying to battle that fire. we'll keep you posted throughout the newscast. a man from oakland is telling about abuse at a reform school. researchers found human remains and secret grave. there's eric is live in the newsroom. >> paul price thanks there's more bodies that have not been found. he witnessed and experienced

it's a county wide school safety program. the goal of the program is two- fold. educates student who's ride their bikes or walk to school about traffic safety and informs adults with the rules of the road when traveling near a school zone. starting tomorrow drivers in north concord and pittsburgh will be given the green light. all the meteoring light will light up green. meters will be on 6:00 to 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 to 7:00. full ramp metering begins september 24th. negotiations are set to resume tomorrow. the meeting is the first time that bart management and the union representing workers have met. both sides remain far apart on

san jose 83 and oakland 69 degrees. as far as the fog coverage, this was responsible for the cooling, coast side and around the bay you noticed that relief with the sea breeze. as far as the latest conditions around the fire, a couple censors in the lower 90s, talking about the warm temperature. lower 90s, a couple of these sites surrounding the fire. winds not a factor but it is dry, humidity levels 13 to 15%. forecast headlines, mostly clear skies, coastal fog. tomorrow cloud cover clearing to the coast. inland neighborhoods in the upper 90s to 100 degrees. we cool off for tuesday and wednesday. there's relief in sight. another hot day inland tomorrow.

. another live update on the breaking newses in contra costa county. this massive blaze on mt. diablo. so far more than 450-acres have burned. this fire has prompted mandatory evacuations. people living near morgan territory road, there's a new evacuation location. it's been moved the cla tonight community -- claton community library. we have crews on the scene talking with firefighters as well as those being evacuated. more throughout the newscast.

a crew of experts in wildfire damage gathered today by the devastation by the rim fire. the burned area response crew is made up of 50 scientist from the u.s. forest service. they will evaluate the damage from the fire for further risk. the team is especially looking for the possibility of mudslides during the rainy season and which bridges, roads and property may be hit with debris. debris is the top concern for hetch hetchy. they want to make sure the watershed stays clear. they will assess the need for preventive measures. here are the latest numbers on the rim fire burning around yosemite. it has consumed 400 square

miles. 80% contain. with full containment by september 20th. the cost to fight the fire $89 million. the federal government will cover most of the cost. the final tally for summer crack down in summer drinking. from august 16 toth midnight on labor day. it included 18 law enforcement agencies, the operation resulted in the arrest of 76 people. two east bay lawmakers are ramping up efforts to pass new gun control laws. proposals include banning kits that convert guns into illegal all weapons and -- assault weapons.

around the bay area. mandatory evacuation on the east side of monday diablo. it's 10% contained and threatening 75 homes. people on oak hill lane, curry canyon road are told to evacuate. they should go to the clayton community library. evacuees use morgan territory road and take only essential items. people needing help call 911. firefighters are battling a fire in sonoma county. the reports are it began with a spark from a tow truck. 40 acres, six structures and vehicles at a pallet factory

have burned. there's a firm perimeter around the area. damage is estimated at $1 million. a 17-year-old teenager was killed when the car he was driving hit a tree and burst into flames. this was on highway 35. the accident happened before 11:00 last night. the teen had two 16-year-old passengers who were able to get away from the burning car. the victim's name has not been released. alcohol and drugs were not involved. congress may vote this week if the u.s. should attack the syrian regime. not many members are expresses support for the request to approve a military strike. guess -- congress is back to work on monday.

p.m. eastern. 6:00 p.m. pacific time. u.s. officials intercepted an order from iran to iraq and it calls for attacks on u.s. embassies and other interests in baghdad. the iranian message came from the head of the revolutionary guards. a spokesman for iranian's mission in new york deny this report. iraqi shiites have been sympathetic to syria. the united states assures israel it will tell, tel aviv before any attacks will be carried out on syria. there attacks any attack on syria could lead to retaliation

inland push. there's the fog bank. it would be nice to transport that closer to the fire. that will not be happening. a shallow marine layer. we have the fog around the bay. san jose 83 degrees. san francisco downtown 60, santa rosa 83. what's happening we're talking about the dense fog. a layer of warm air above us. we know it's warm. temperature in the mid- to upper 90s. the compression of that shrinks the marine layer. a big drop off of visibility. the other extremes very hot temperature in the forecast. livermore for tomorrow. 100 degrees, tomorrow starts owl 64 at 7:00. by 1286 degrees, wrapping up with 99 degrees.

started to develop yesterday a southerly breeze. right near the immediate coastline around the bay. high pressure in command of the weather. with that temperature inland approaching the mid- to upper 90s for your monday, as the high backs off, later in the week, tuesday, wednesday we'll bring in relief. as far as the fog, coverage expected near the immediate shoreline, i think we'll have dense fog. we showed you that pushing into the bay. and patchy overcast near the shoreline. inland a different story. with the hot temperature in place. fire danger up there. forecast times 100-degrees in clearlake. santa rosa 90. you will find under -- upper 90s. around the bay mid- to upper 70s for berkeley and oakland.
