we have pictures from news chopper 2 that was taken three hours ago. they are trying to keep the fire within the containment lines. this was the scene from news chopper 2 on monday at the height of the fire. the flames are 70% contained with full containment expected friday. firefighters have further reduced their estimates of the acres burned down from 3200 yesterday to 3100 today. they are tooking for the cause of the fire -- looking for the cause of the fire. even though firefighters got the upper hand on the fire home owners are not out of the woods yet. their next concern, land slides. ktvu's john fowler is on mount diablo with the danger that could be a month away. >> reporter: i have learned resource advisers were in the mount diablo burn area today searching for spots that could become land slides. >> reporter: as some fire crews pulled out today we learned

repair power lines is $30 million. insurance should cover most of the cost. rate payers are not expected to see a boost in bills. we are learning more about two men arrested following two killings in san jose. investigators said he was arrested for shooting his father to death. a 46-year-old was found dead on september 6. police also named another man as the suspect in the stabbing death of a woman on september 7. the victim was 39 years old. police say they were domestic partners who had children together and he stabbed her in a bedroom while their kids were watching tv in the next room. the killings were san jose's 35 and 36 homicides of 2013.

we have new developments in the shooting death of alaysha carradine. police released a sketch of the man who shot and killed the 8- year-old during a sleep over in july. ktvu's mike mibach is here now with the sketch that police are calling the biggest break so far in the case. >> reporter: tracking down a child killer has always been the goal and tonight a new lead

and now they want to put the lead in the hands of the public and they are calling this a significant development. a sketch of the killer. police say a man who looks like this is the man who killed alaysha carradine. the girl was at a sleep over in oakland on the 17 of july. investigators say after 11:00 p.m. someone rang the door bell and on the other side of the door was alaysha carradine. multiple shots were fired through the door killing the 8- year-old and injuring three others, including two children. police say it was a number of witnesses who came forward to provide investigators the details that led to the sketch. it is clear and hopefully police say it is the lead that will lead to an arrest. >> this is the largest break in the case and we want to find this person, identify him and arrest him. that is our focus right now. we are reaching out to the

community to help us do that. >> the home was targeted by the gunman but didn't say who the target was. investigators looked at surveillance video from the area of the shooting but did not say what was on it. the man on the sketch is described as african american male, 17-24 years old, standing î and weighing 160 pounds. he has a thin, dark mustache and was wearing a black hooded jacket and blue jeans at the time of the shooting if you recognize him call police. this is the man who killed alaysha carradine. this afternoon her mother declined to comment about the development on camera. live, mike mibach, ktvu channel 2 news. managers at logan airplane apologized for holding a fire drill on the 12 anniversary of the september 11 attacks. it was announced on the facebook page and people were outraged. the two planes that flew into the world trade center towers were hijacked after they left from logan airport.

it happened when the driver of a van fell asleep at 5:20 a.m. this morning. it crhed into a big rick that jack -- rig that jackknifed. the driver and passenger were injured. sheriff's deputies arrested a man on charges that include carjacking, attempted murder and robbery. she stole a car from a couple. he tried to rob a business and pulled the trigger on a gun but it wouldn't fire. a deputied spotted the car and -- deputy spotted the car and they captured him. from leaders to police on the streets, san jose is putting out the help wanted sign. the city manager is supposed to fill the vacancies but now she is stepping down.
