but this story gets much worse. this time the child was 3 years old, autistic and was then forgotten. new at 6:00, ktvu's john fowler spoke to the angry mother whose story has sparked an investigation and a review of school bus contracts. john. >> reporter: the school bus driver dropped 3-year-old katelin here. what happened next she says traumatized her child. her mother blames durham school services. >> durham does not take ordinary care of our children, much less special care for these children. >> her daughter katelin is 3, autistic and her mother says unable to say her own name. gonzales posted this picture on facebook katelin getting on the bus, the first day of school. after what her mom called a traumatizing delicious another bus took her to the right school, but then the driver

didn't pick her up after school. an emergency contact finally got her home. >> the following day she did not want to go to school, as you can imagine. she was terrified to get on the bit. she did say bus hurt me. bus pinch me. bus bad. >> durham school services acknowledge mistake. >> we orange out a plan to improve communication and coordination move forward. >> we're in the processover reviewing the contract and previous concerns with durham bus services. >> but the superintendent says hayward is part of a rejoinal contract and there are few options. >> durham's response today is completely unacceptable. >> reporter: gonzales who has two other autistic children says she no longer trusts durham servicessings and she's asking people to express their outrage on her facebook page. reporting live in hayward, john fowler ktvu channel 2 news. following developing news in oakland. police have arrested a man for allegedly shooting a cab driver in the leg this afternoon. the man was shot just after

3:00 o'clock in the area of 11th street and broadway. that's right near the marriott hotel. police say they received several calls from people who heard gunshots in that area. officers arrived and say they found a man suffering at least one gunshot wound. he is expected to survive. was iefly closed while police n searched for the suspect. the santa clara county sheriff's department late this afternoon relisted pictures and names of four men arrested yesterday after a home invasion near gessoes. in custody now are charles menefe, lamont mims, taylor and samuels. authorities are still looking for a fifth man. you'll rule they lock down the neighborhood yesterday to search for him. the four arrested are all charged with robbery, kidnapping and weapons violations. ktvu has learned new information about a believe school worker who was murdered, and how she knew the man now accused in her death.

ktvu's robert honda spoke to the figeroa today as they prepare to lay their mother to rest. >> reporter: we are at the home in says where the family is getting ready to travel to mexico for a funeral and burial. the family held a private memorial service in says earlier this week and gave us this exclusive video to show of the more than 300 people who under the out to pay the respects. as we -- turned out to pay their respects. she was a popular schoolyard monitor for 12 years. she was found dead in her mini van parked not far from the school last tuesday. 43-year-old oscar ayala was charged with her murder last friday and appeared in court today for his case to be assigned to the public defender's office. the case has been sealed so investigators will not talk about how they knew each other, but today her son said she had children that went to the school and he had been stalking her. >> they weren't really friends or anything. they just saw each other around. that's basically it.

home confinement as well as two years of probation. he also has to perform 250 hours of community service and pay a $4,000 fine. domestic violence victims will get more protection here in california after three bills were signed by governor brown. one includes social media as grounds for victims to get a retraining order against their abusers. experts say many abuse use social media to berate their victims and scare them. >> there are many, many ways for somebody to intimidate and harass somebody, and now that social media is, you know, such a common thing, it's just -- if somebody has bad intent, that's one of the tools they are using. >> another bill makes false impersonation on social media grounds for a restraining order. the third prohibits domestic violence abusers from dropping spouses from their joint health insurance policy. more details now in some of the other legislation headed to the governor's tex. one bill would sentence registered sex offendsers to another six months in jail for

removing their gps ankle bracelets. another would create an $80 million early warning system for earthquakes. it could give up to 60 seconds notice of an impending earthquake. a response to b.a.r.t's shut down of cell service during a protest would require a court order before public agencies cut service. there is also a bill to require planners consider including suicide buriers as part of any new bridge design or risk losing state funding for those projectens. new information know on a story we first told you about this week about those bright lights in the p bay bridge tunnel. several drivers have complained the lights are too right, especially compared to the old yellowish lights there b. now cal transsays they have made some adjustments. a lighting engineer said driver should notice the deference tonight. the completion of the new bay bridge means a $20 million bonus for the construction company. although they may have to pay a penalty out of that for those

a woman is facing criminal charges tonight for allegedly booking thousands of california home owners in a multimillion dollar homeowner scheme. a man and woman were raced for continuing the fraud initially started by her husband. they say he duped home owners into paying them instead of their lenders and would ignore letters from their mortgage companies leaving many of them losing their homes. both face up to 30 years if convicted. google says it is expanding their footprint in silicon valley. they confirm they have leased a large office complex in sunnyvale big enough to house a thousand employees. this is just the latest expansion for google. in the months, the company has leased almost a million scare feet of new space in sunnyvale and mountain view. a dip in temperatures on the way. i'll tell you how cool it will be and if you will see overcast skies this weekend. last night, we introduced you to a family of two little

the cost to fight the morgan fire has now grown to 4 and a half million dollars. ed the fire burn more than 3100- acres. investigators believe target shooters sparked the fire. but so far there is this no word on any criminal charges. firefighters near redding getting the upper hand on a fire in hasta county. at least 68 homes were

destroyed one person i did that this blaze. fire officials expect full containment by sunday. fightening moments at san francisco this morning when what window washing scaffolding rig detached and was dangling from a high-rise. one of the cables on that rig snapped at ant 7:00 this morning on the 41st floor of the embarcadero 1 building. no one was in the rig at the time. police and fire closed surrounding streets and evacuated several floors while crews worked on reattaching the capable. by 9:30 it was secure education bill and the evacuations and street closures were lifted. sheriff's investigators say a suspicious package found this afternoon under the out to be harmless. the object was found just before 3:00 this afternoon at a train yard just south of the station near interstate 280 near highway 87. santa clara county sheriff's officials say a plaque backpack was found with wires sticking out of it right in front of a parked train.
