jordan hall, well over 100 yards, three rushing touchdowns. corey linsley the center. 328 rushing yards, the offensive line as played well. ryan shazier, all-american, gave an all-american performance save for one penalty he'd like to have back. and bradley roby, yeah, he's a lockdown corner. he and bryce treggs a nice balance tonight. got the better of him one time but for the most part bradley roby a terrific game. that guy wasn't on our high performance deal, christian bryant. jordan hall, significant numbers every time. but christian bryant also plays on defense. he's played well. >> gus: jordan hall again. i didn't care hardy nickerson brings him down. >> charles: all right. the duplicate numbers thing, i mean, and it played into tonight's game, didn't it. >> referee: personal foul,
7:31 pm
tripping, on the offense, number 78. 15-yard penalty. still first down. >> charles: i'm talking about jared goff wears 16 and the penalty there gets number 78 op offense. that is the big fella, andrew norwell, all big ten guard. but tonight jared goff wearing 16, the punter, cole leininger, wears 16. and cal got tricked on a punting situation and he threw a pass for a first down. something doesn't seem right about that. i'm sorry. >> gus: it's difficult for announcers. but it is legal football. it's legal football. let's take a look at the ohio state schedule. play bam-u next week, then
7:32 pm
wisconsin, northwestern, a bye, iowa, penn state. >> charles: from what we've seen here today, many people in the preseason targeted this ohio state team as one of the top teams potentially to take on whoever that s.e.c. representative is in the national title game, right now seems to be tracking towards alabama. >> gus: second down. the question is can you do it without braxton miller? >> charles: and that's a question we'll find out because we're seeing everything from guiton tonight that you want but the key to all this is there's a reason braxton miller has been the starter. he's a more dynamic runner and player. last year in this game against cal he had four touchdown passes including the game-winner and ran for one. performance we're seeing from guiton has been terrific, but
7:33 pm
it's not as if braxton miller doesn't give you the same thing with more explosiveness. what guiton does is he's a much better thrower in terms of accuracy and consistency. but miller has prove on that aspect worked hard in the off-season with jordan whitfield. >> gus: braxton miller, big ten offensive player of the year after throwing for over 2,000 yards and 15 touchdowns and rushing for 1,200-plus yards and 13 more touchdowns. looking for 13 more rushing yards and he will pass cornelius green to become ohio state's all-time leading rusher amongst quarterbacks. >> charles: and best you believe this, that as soon as braxton miller is healthy and ready to go, kenny guiton is a backup again. not like we have a quarterback controversy at ohio state. it's clear who the number-one guy is.
7:34 pm
>> gus: buckeyes keep it on the ground. coach meyer has to be proud of how his senior backup quarterback has led this team today. big ten taking on the pac 12 today. take a look at some of the matchups, ucla pounding nebraska on the road. >> charles: after a slow start. they were down 23 to start that. >> gus: the leader for the huskies is back. and wisconsin and arizona state will begetting started momentarily. >> charles: how about that game? neither team has given up a point yet this season. wisconsin two shutouts. arizona state has played one game.
7:35 pm
>> gus: out of bounds at the 19 yard line. a minute to go. >> charles: when you look at cal, they'll say it again, charles, as you look at their schedule coming up, they have a bye next week and then they're at oregon, washington state, remember, washington state beat usc last week on the road at ucla. oregon state, then washington. you get the feeling they're going to be fine. i get that feeling in a big way. i think they're going to continue to get better and better as time goes on. they're the type of team that you're getting prepared for them and watching their tape, especially their offense, you're scared to death having to deal with what you're seeing already with a young quarterback who's only played three games. wait till the season progresses. where they'll need the most work on the defensive side of the football. >> gus: goff again threw for over 300 yards today.
7:36 pm
muhammad. broken up by pittsburgh brown. i know those kids don't like those nicknames but those are some pretty cool nicknames. philly and pittsburgh. >> charles: jim tressel gave them to them. forget about this calling one. you're now philadelphia. you're now pittsburgh. deal with it. >> gus: to the 41 yard line with 21 seconds remaining. 87 offensive plays for ohio state, 87 for california. >> charles: cal is disappointed. they were averaging 97 coming in. feel like it's a light day's work. >> gus: whole different caliber of opponent talking about ohio state. goff couldn't get that one there. nine seconds to go, intended for treggs.
7:37 pm
>> charles: definitely better days ahead for cal. remember who they were playing tonight, you mentioned caliber of opponent, one of the top teams in the nation. cal will be fine down the road. >> gus: goff the handoff, brendan bigelow, and that should do it. ohio state remaining perfect, 3-0 on the season. urban meyer and the buckeyes winning 52-34. we'll return to wrap up this evening's game right after these messages. could save you fifteen percent or more on car insurance. mmmhmmm...everybody knows that. well, did you know that old macdonald

got off to the incredible start, had a small lull there, but cal impressive, came back at them and they withstood that. in the second half they took charge and ground them into submission. a really well-coached, well-oiled team that i think is only going to get better. >> gus: downstairs to petros with coach meyer. >> petros: coach, what did you learn today about your football team coming across the country and playing this high-powered offense in a great setting for football? >> it was a great setting, it's good for college football. it will be great. that was a really good win by our team. >> petros: your quarterback came in, did a great job, not the starter but kenny guiton. what did he show you today? >> he showed me that something -- there's nothing new with him, he's just a reliable guy, really distributes the ball well. he threw the downfield pass that he never has so, he did a nice job. >> petros: safe trip home. get some sleep on the plane. >> gus: all right. the final score here 52-34. ohio state defeating cal. join us tomorrow for america's
