come on baby. >> you can do it. >> breathe! >> two of the guys were able to get into his car, unbuckle him. apparently at the time he was purple. he wasn't breathing. they believe that he also had a heart attack. now, there is quite a crowd around witnessing these guys do their work. >> you can do it, guys. come on, baby! >> you can hear all these people in the background cheering this guy on and then cheering on the guys from engine 5. >> you can do it. come on, baby. >> come on, buddy. >> we have some stuff for you to do today, bud. >> listen to what people start to say. >> yes, yes! >> come on, baby! >> yes! >> all of a sudden they stop and everybody starts cheering. that's where the video ends. the police department asked the person filming to shut off the camera but artie will make a full recovery.

obviously a big thanks to the guys from engine 5. we've got john, chris, cory and scott joining us right this minute from rochester, new york. first of all, great work and congratulations on this rescue. >> thanks. >> tell us about what you guys walked into after this crash. >> it occurred right across the street from the fire station. someone came to the front door saying someone hit the truck. as soon as we starkted to go down the driveway, you could see he wasn't breathing because he was purple. >> i've done cpr before, i've never heard anybody say before "engine 5 will do this." >> have you talked to this man since this rescue went viral? >> he wait a minute to visit us at the fire station today. he walked up with sneakers on, he has a great sense of humor.

he was with his wife. >> what did artie think? >> he couldn't believe the way people stepped up for him and he was really appreciative of the way we handled it. >> come on, baby, can you do it! >> this is burglary suspect eric simmons. he doesn't want to be in the back of that cruiser. so there he goes. they had to have an idea he was doing it. i mean, they stopped immediately. >> police believe he had taken a pickup truck, taken off from this burglary attempt. here they were just taking him over to detectives for an interview. that's why he was not tough. that's why the window was down in hindsight. once they get simmons in cuffs, he is still not cooperating.
