any day now according to the schedule. reporting live, tom vacar, ktvu channel 2 news. >> more details now on the labor talks. the next negotiation is set for next week but ktvu learned the mediator is talking to caltrans about secureing a meeting room for a -- sewering a meeting room for a possible session tomorrow. both sides are still far apart when it comes to salary and benefits. and we are counting down the days in the 60 day cooling off period. there are now just 21 days left and unless an agreement is reached, bart workers could strike once again. sac sac workers may -- contra costa county workers may be walking off the job in two weeks, they have voted in favor of calling a strike but a official tells ktvu a strike is not imminent just possible if a deal isn't reach by october 1. the union includes accountants,

engineers and public health nurses. we tried calling the county for comment but did not hear back. we know the name of the gunman accused of shooting a property manager during an eviction. today authorities identified the suspect as mike ghoneim. investigators say he shot through his door of a home in contra costa county as the property manager were trying to evict him. he is charged with five counts of attempted murder. he is now being held in contra costa county jail on $2.5 million bail. a 10-year-old girl shot while sleeping. but it took hours before anyone called 911. ktvu's mike mibach is live where he spoke to the girl's

market. mike -- the girl's father. mike? >> reporter: that's right. he was rushing out of the house here where you can see some of the damage left behind from the gunfire and he says he was headed to the hospital when we caught up with him. >> reporter: the father steered away from the 911 delay but did say this. >> reporter: [ inaudible question ] >> feeling fine. >> reporter: what is your relationship? >> i am her father. >> reporter: do you know anyone who would want totarget the house? >> no. -- to target the house? >> no. i don't. >> reporter: this is the crime scene and the story starts around 2:00 a.m. >> heard a couple gun shots. >> he did not call 911. >> no. normal around here. >> i heard gun shots a few times. we assume it is fireworks or somebody goofing off. >> reporter: not the case this

morning. shots were fired and a 10-year- old was struck while sleeping. detectives were quiet but a spokesman says it wasn't till hours after the shooting at 7:34 a.m. when police received the first 911 call. it was made by the family of the girl. we asked why the delay. >> we don't know. we think if you heard shots and you would want to check on your family. >> we are trying to figure out if they knew there was a shooting or if they pieced things together after the fact. >> reporter: they are working on finding camera footage from the home. the girl is alert and expected to survive. reporting live, mike mibach, ktvu channel 2 news. an internet pioneer killed in a bicycle collision. he was the first chief financial officer at amazon.com

the chp is trying to figure out who shattered the windows of 10 cars in san jose. 10 drivers had their windows smashed while driving in the southbound lanes last night. the latest incident was reported before 10:00 p.m. one van had a child in the back seat. >> i am glad to hear -- or see nobody was hurt at the time. that is good. i was concerned this might cause an accident. >> california highway patrol investigators believe the

from this mother's emotional return to the old bay bridge. you can see her tribute to her son. movable barrier to the golden gate bridge is one step closer. they approved a plan today to buy the barrier. it is designed to prevent head on which collision -- on collisions. if it gets approval it will be installed next fall during a 52 hour bridge closure. that would be the longest the golden gate bridge has ever been closed. richman school has a -- richmond school has a refurbished playground. they helped clean up, repaint and repair the playground and they helped repair the old soccer field. >> their expressions were thank you, thank you, we needed a new soccer field.
