little bit of a breeze. the dew point is definitely in the 40s. in wind protected area there is will be much cooler readings. system that is spinning in doesn't have a lot of moisture. but it does have cooler to colder air. tonight the fire watch will start because we will get more of a northerly breeze. i think we can see gusts well over 35 miles an hour. that is above 1,000 feet by the way. a lot of cold unstable air is popping up. for us it will just be a cooler, breezy day. sunny for all. windy at times. temperatures inland 70s and coast and bay 60s or very, very low 70s. here is sal. we have wind advisories issued by the chp for some of the bay area bridges. it might be tough driving. especially if you drive a small car on the bay bridge, the richmond bridge, and the san

mateo bridge. keep that in mind as you are driving. we'll let you know if that does change. it's not up there for the dumbarton bridge. let's move along and take a look at the toll plaza approach. this commute looks pretty good coming into the city with no major problems. and again watch out for gusty winds on that bridge. taking a look at the bay area commute on 580. you can see 580 traffic still looking very nice according to the road sensors and over to 238. it's still a very nice drive. the bridges we warned you about on the peninsula traffic is moving along nicely on 101 and 280. 4:31 let's go back to the desk. oracle usa one win away from one of the greatest comebacks in sports history. >> the americans trail by seven seconds. and now they have turned the tides on team new zealand.

piedmont did not flair up again. the fire yesterday began in the afternoon and it did destroy one house and damaged two more. this is the same area of the 1991 oakland hills fire. neighbors say they did learn their lessons back then and was quick to evacuate. >> i had lived through the '91 fire when i lived in the oakland hills. so we are very familiar with it. so first delivers things out. and if you have time to go back. >> no injuries were reported and the cause of that fire is under investigation. we have new information on the as january that aircraft. under u.s. lawst january that was required to provide a range of services including providing transportation and lodging. three people died and dozens were hurt in the disaster at

sfo opinion july 6th. all day car pool lanes will be open on 880 and 680. other transportation services such as ac transit and ferries would also increase service. san francisco state university is arming campus police officers with tasers. that decision comes after an incident in may where officers arrested suspected squatters from a campus dorm. video of that arrest prompted

questions about police brutality. university police started training with tasers but the department has to set rules for their use before arming all 28 officers. you will soon be able to text 911 and even send photos and video in one bay area city. but there are high-tech obstacles in the effort to upgrade that emergency call system. that story coming up at 4:45. san francisco police have released surveillance video of a suspect wanted in a deadly shooting of a 20-year-old man. we want you to take a look. the video shows a suspect on a muni train monday night just moments before that deadly shooting. he's described as an asian man about 20-30 years old. the shooting happened just as the victim got off the train. investigators don't know what prompted the attack and anyone with information is asked to call police. a man is caught on surveillance punching the

manager of a grocery store in the face and now san leandro police are asking for help to identify the suspect. in the video the manager of the safeway briefly approaches the man before suddenly you see it. he punches him and then takes off. employees say the punch knocked the manager unconscious and he did go to the hospital. we do not know what they said to each other before that attack. >> this is not uncommon at all. this is a major case for us. we want to make sure we catch the person responsible. >> surveillance cameras outside recorded that suspect running acone. the attack happened monday at 11:00 in the morning. anyone with information is asked to call police. pg&e crews worked through the night to restore power after a carp hit a power pole. let's show you video of the aftermath. this happened at 9:00 last night. the honda hit a power pole and

new information this morning on how al chi dam linked terrorists carried out that attack on that shopping mall in kenya. reportedly the terror group based in somalia studied blueprints of the shopping mall. they also rehearsed that attack and supposedly stashed machine guns in the mall. the shopping center was heavily damaged during that four-day long fight. >> two floors of the west gate mall collapsed and there are several bodies still trapped in the rubble including the terrorists. >> this morning al-shabab claim there is are 137 hostages buried in that shopping center rubble. the kenyon government denies that claim. the death toll stands at 61 but it is expected to rise. 16 hours and counting.

republican senator ted cruz one on the floor for hours talking about the health care law. we will show you the pictures where rubio is speaking. senate crews have been trading off. at one point he read the dr. seuss book green eggs and ham comparing the story to obama care. >> i will tell you the difference between green eggs and ham when americans tried it they discovered they did not green eggs and ham and they did not like obama care. >> senator cruz does not have enough votes to stop the bill. today we will find out how much health care premiums will be under the affordable care act. the department of health and human services is releasing charts how much the new health insurance will charge for the bronze, silver, and gold plans.

before tax credits a mid range silver plan would cost $328 a month. a police department on the peninsula will soon update the technology that powers its emergency response system. it is a story you will only see on 2. the police department just purchased a next generation 911 system. it cost $361,000. it will be installed over the next two months. people will be able to text, send photos and video to 911. >> the more information we can get into the 911 center to that call taker the better our response can be. >> however there are concerns that the transmission of this additional digital information could overload the system and right now experts are testing and retesting the system to see how much it can handle. >> oakland police arrested two people on suspicion of robbing two people. one of the men pulled out a gun and forced the car poolers to

hand over their valuables on monday morning. based on witnesses descriptions police were able to track down that getaway car and they did arrest a 17-year-old boy and 22- year-old man. oakland has more robberies than any other large u.s. city. oakland has 10.9 robberies per 1,000 residents. that is more than double any other large california city. san francisco has 4.2 robberies per 1,000 residents. san ben key that and richmond have 3.7. three bay area scientists are winners of this years mcarthur foundation grant. carl won for his work for preserving historic recordings. stanford colleges david lobell

4:46 let's go to steve. thank you. we have clear skies. the system that is digging in is driving in cooler air. wind forecast some of the higher elevations about 40 miles an hour. mt. diablo 50 miles an hour. i do expect this to pick up on the bay later on today. it's about 10-20 right now. small craft advisory kicks in at 11:00 a.m.. fire watch starts tonight north and east bay hills. above 1,000 feet. there will be pretty good gusts coming. 42 in tahoe. 49 in reno. 53 ukiah and 53 sacramento. the cool air is beginning to work its way in. a lot of 50s here. everyone is close. if it wasn't for any breeze, i think it would be a lot cooler. not much showing up yet. there is a little westerly breeze toward oakland.

sfo 22. san jose 10. these will crank up a little bit later on. up in the high country things are quiet but it will pick up later. a lot of cool, unstable air is working its way in. we won't be in line for shower activity. cooler and breezy today. a few shots higher elevations definitely windy. inland temps and bay side all really close. although santa cruz i think it would be a little warmer than many locations. cooler and breezy. sunshine across the board. 70s. 75 fairfield. with a north breeze napa can warm up. they will be warmer than others. 60s and 70s and some locations will definitely take a plunge. livermore being one. redwood city as well. santa cruz did go 76. sometimes this pattern can benefit them.

breezy and cooler and windy on thursday. it will be warmer friday. a little cool down on sunday. overall a lot of wind kicking in here. talk about wind. take a look at the pictures the strong winds you've been telling us has prompted a warning for that national weather service who has issued a small craft advisory for boaters. that warning will remain in effect until 11:00 this morning. you are look at video of the high winds creating waves in pacifica which is on the san mateo county coast. and a new earthquake warning system for california is moving forward. lawmakers say the system will give residents 60 seconds. a warning before a potentially damaging quake hit. yesterday governor jerry brown signed a bill to help create the statewide system. it has an estimated price tag of $80 million. someone in the east bay stole almost $50,000 worth of tools and equipment.

workers at green horizon global incorporated first reported that theft on monday. the company contracts with fema to build emergency housing for victims of natural disasters. among the items taken were tools to make those shelters. investigators are looking into how the thieves broke into that facility. >> see if there is any areas that have been compromised. windows. things like that. >> the property owner estimates $47,000 in equipment was stolen. investigators are checking to see if there is surveillance video that might help them solve this case. a county has declared they want to break away from the state. the mo d.o.t. county board of supervisors say they want to form a new state of jefferson. it's trying to get at least a dozen counties to commit. more than 100 volunteers will fan out along two runways

at san francisco international airport to pick apgar barrage. up garbage. they almost halt all airplane traffic between 9:00 and 11:00 this morning so volunteers can safely sweep the area. the new bay bridge is not for the faint of heart. the medical calls we are learning about on the new pedestrian walkway. and the running of the bulls is coming to northern california but some animal rights groups are trying to get them to run in the other direction.

such a beautiful person. she touched so many lives. >> devastated family members and friends gathered in livermore last night to remember 21-year-old christina chesterman. the nursing student was on her bike late sunday night riding home from the chico campus library when a suspected drunk driver hit her. late yesterday they pronounced christina brain dead. the emotional candle light vigil outside her parents home began a few hours later. >> i lost my best friend to a fool who made one bad decision. and there is no amount of justice or punishment that can be given to him. >> chico police identified the

driver as 19-year-old riley hoover. he is now facing felony drunk driving charges for the nursing students death. meanwhile middle school students have found a new way to honor the 12-year-old boy that was killed while riding his bike to school. they are now wearing ties. the seventh grader was hit and killed by a mother who just dropped off her own children at the school. pleasanton police are focusing on a group of teenagers that are accused of beating a man right in front of his home. right now the teens are only being called persons of interest. police have not released their identities. they are only saying the teens are students from the pleasanton area and a nearby school district. 50-year-old david lamont is still in a coma. he was beaten after he tried to confront a group of young people making noise. the new span of the bay bridge is drawing lots of walkers and cyclists but some

are getting into trouble. that pedestrian pathway opened three weeks ago. since then two people needed medical attention on the bridge. the path does not have bathrooms, does not have garbage cans and does not have water fountains. is is now that includes taking enough water for that 4.5-mile trip on that bridge. there are call boxes and cell phones do work but it could take several minutes before paramedics could get to anyone need help. there are no plans to add water fountains to that walkway. a tank like vehicle that rocked the san jose earthquakes. the soccer team sent us these photos of a bradley fighting vehicle crashed into a concrete barrier. it shows you the damage. the barrier is a few feet away from the training facility near the airport. no one was hurt. the company that builds those
