from her where the search is ongoing as soon as we get it. body discovered yesterday is lynne spaulding. tonight outrage is growing from those who knew her as they search for answers. we have team coverage tonight. we begin with ktvu's david stevenson. live at the hospital where officials were tight lipped today. david? >> reporter: there are more questions than answers tonight after they identified the woman found in the stair well yesterday. >> what happened at our hospital is horrible. >> reporter: san francisco general hospital confirmed what a force told ktvu channel 2 news yesterday was the body found was that of lynne spaulding, who disappeared from her hospital room september 21. >> we do not know how she came to be in the stair well yesterday. how long she had been there or what caused her death.

>> reporter: lynne spaulding's disappearance prompted a search of the ground. they refused to answer questions about the search, security measures, why her body was discovered 17 days later. >> i here the sheriff's department nished a search -- initiated a search, it wasn't a good one. >> reporter: current patient search protocols are written and unwritten guidelines. he said answers will come after the investigation is complete. the family says that is not soon enough. >> the fact that a woman was missing for 17 days and found in a hospital, steps away from her bed, that should be of concern to any thinking person. it is a nightmare. >> reporter: 45 minutes ago i spoke to the hospital's chief

[ inaudible ] >> feisty. >> how she describes her long time friend, lynne spaulding. she created the find lynne spaulding facebook page after she was reported missing from san francisco general hospital september 21. the only explanation she could think of is that she was tired

of being in a hospital bed and tried to escape. on tuesday authorities found lynne spaulding's bondy in a unused staircase two weeks after she disappeared. >> absolutely unbelievable this happened. of course they need to do a thorough search if someone goes missing. the policies have to be changed. >> they met here 20 years ago after they immigrated to the u.s. >> this is her seat, right there. >> reporter: she was a regular. he would see her 3 or 4 time as week, meeting up with her friends. >> they became friendly like in cheers. they would meet here and, you know, go out to parties. like homes. they all met here. >> she is here a lot. >> reporter: lynne spaulding has two adult children who live in the bay area and the family

francisco fire department testifies test scores were changed and he didn't okay them. >> i have attempted to promote over the years and this was my last chance. hadn't had a test in 12 years. i didn't make it and i thought that something was wrong. >> reporter: he was 54 years old when he took the 2008 exam. he and 14 other firefighters say the tests were alted and they believe -- altered and they believe they were denied promotions because they were 40 or orlando at the time. >> 60% of the people who took the exam was 40 or over and 60% went to people who were 40 or under. >> reporter: she points to her star witness who admitted he changed test scores and shredded the scoring sheets. but the city attorney says there is a reason.

now to developing news out of southern california. flooding shut down part of interstate 5, they were closed this afternoon as floods from storm rup off send mud and debris -- run off send mud and debris across the freeway. the government shut down has caused members of congress to call off high priced fundraisers. they postponed or canceled fundraisers scheduled for this week in washington.
