protesters have gone home and up until a few minutes ago county workers cleaning up the barricades they set out. now i talked to one of the protest organizers today saying four people that met are lopez family met about an hour ago. protesters say they want the sonoma county da to take the shooting investigation directly to a grand jury. direction. now i just checked in 20 minutes ago. so evening community is looking good. there have been some concerns cars headed toward casino and roads could be pack packed again with traffic. news chopper 2 was overhead this morning as the clouds inched their way to the resort. telling me the problems really peeked at about 10:30 this morning. there were blocked intersections here and problems radiated out from there. saying there was a massive 20- mile traffic jam on highway 101 north. >> it wasn't great. it was very, very crowded. very crowded. people were stopped on the free trying to get in to it the exit. >> it was crazy. >> reporter: california highway patrol telling me they are anticipating crowds for it the first week the screen here is open. nothing like what he saw today

both at the museum today where the troll will be on display for the public tomorrow through february 26 february 26th. the troll was installed on the old bay bridge of the earthquake to protect the bridge from in more earthquakes. there are reports of a new troll for the new span of the bay bring. but it's not clear when or where it will be installed. crews have cleared highway 24 after a crash of big rig shut down three westbound lanes for five hours today. spilled at about 8:40 to morning. as many as seven other vehicles were also in the traffic. traffic backed up for miles all all the the way back into lafayette showing us here. there were no serious injuries reported but there were a lot of scared drivers. >> i got rear ended. i thought i was going to dry. >> >> reporter: it was scar re.

>> very scar re. >> just coming down that hill and from behind i felt the big explosion. and then there were a lot of accidents or incidents after that. >> at this point the highway patrol is still investigating the cause of the crash. an unusual hazmat situation this morning. hypodermic needles. crews were called in to clean them up and that caused a traffic backup. there were about 2,000 needles that were spilled. we still don't know where the needles came from but they did find a broken needle container with a phone number on it. an officer-involved shooting shuts down the free. why police say they had no choice. and later one south bay city is facing a big problem with pigs. plus now plans that could help residents deal with the damage those animals are leaves behind. but first p the california highway patrol is cracking down
