clouds. 40s and 50s to probably not as cold this morning. still rather chilly for some. but 54 in san francisco. which had a high temperature yesterday of 79. dropped it a tiny bit. but it will still be nice. it will still be within a couple degrees of yesterday's high. you can see yesterday's highs get tropical in nature. a mix of sun and clouds. those higher clouds mainly to the north bay. highs very close to yesterday. yes there was one 80 down in santa cruz. here is sal. good morning. right now traffic is actually doing pretty well if you are driving in the bay area. i want to start off with the bay bridge toll plaza. it is light. we don't have any road w to worry about and as steve mentioned visibility is pretty good here. no problems on the san mateo bridge either driving across to the peninsula. that traffic is looking good all the way across. we do want to mention that cliff menta street is closed

between at least 11th and fun johnston because of a working fire. that is a good area to avoid. just get over to gary and california for the time being. now let's go back to the desk. >> thank you. we begin with breaking news. a statewide amber alert has been issued for a two week old baby taken from an apartment in sunnyvale. claudine wong is live with some new information on the suspect and the car. claudine. >> reporter: that is right we have been gathering a lot of information for you. let me show you where we are. we came to the 900 block of helen avenue. this is the apartment complex where all of this happened. i did knock on the door where this family lives. the mother that answered did not want to talk. this all happened yesterday. let me show you a picture of the father. its 22-year-old masot. his facebook page filled with a

lot of pictures of his newborn baby. they got into an argument yesterday afternoon and it was during that argument that the father took the child and told the mother he was leaving the state. police say the father has made previous threats to harm himself and their baby. their whereabouts are unknown but last contact was made at 4:00 yesterday. this amber alert wasn't issued until this morning because police didn't find out about this until 10:30 last night when they got a call and told what happened. that is why this amber alert was issued this morning. he is 22 years old. he is turkish, has brown hair, brown eyes, six feet tall and weighs 120 pounds. the baby is named henry. and again just two weeks old. we are continuing to collect autoa lot of this information for you. we've been keeping in contact with you. we do have a car description. its an envoy. it aparticipantly has a big

boulevard. its unknown how the female subject got on top of the bart track. >> the chp is down playing earlier reports that the woman fell to the freeway after being hit by a bart train. investigators now say its possible that show jumped from the bart tracks to take her own life. time is 4:35. the results are in from tuesday's election across the bay area. key issues included gun control, a sales tax increase, and redeveloping the san francisco waterfront. voters overwhelming rejected proposition b. 62% opposed the measure with 38% for it. and despite the support of lieutenant governor gavin newsom and mayor ed lee a companion measure proposition c which would wave the height limit also went down by defeat.

it would have allowed two condo buildings to replace a public parking lot. supporters say the project would provide jobs and a public park. and people living in the area say the condo project exceededth height limit zone for the sr. -- >> this is about our waterfront. this is about what kind of city we want. >> prop b supporters say the franke based developers behind the measure are heartbroken. we have other high profile propositions in the area. they have approved measure c. starting next april the city's sales tax will go up half a cent to hire more police. sunnyvale has passed a strict gun control measure. gun owners must report losing their weapon within 48 hours and ammunition clips cannot hold more than ten rounds.

the nra says it will sue. supporters say the measure cuts the cities $1.5 million deficit. you can find complete election results for your community on ktvu.com. we'll also have final numbers on the bottom of your screen throughout the newscast. san francisco parks will soon be officially closed to the public between midnight and 5:00 a.m.. city supervisors have voted in favor of an overnight park curfew. but the supervisor vote was a crushing defeat for homeless advocates which says the curfew unfairly targets people living on the streets. department chairs at san jose state are scheduled to hold am meeting about steep budget cuts that force the school to cancel classes for the spring term. no word on how many classes are

canceled but the cuts are substantial. the announcement came as a surprise to many departments that hope the passage of prop 30 will slow cuts. the meeting will begin at 10:30 this morning in sweeney hall. in a story you will see only on 2, police found loaded guns and mess in a martinez home. police were called to the home on valenti court sunday after getting a short about shots fires -- am report about shots fired. >> 16 pounds of marijuana, pound and a half of methamphetamine. that is a pretty good indication with the quantities alone that they are for distribution. >> one man was arrested but several people were living in the home including a small child and more arrests could be made. police say they are still trying to understand the motive of a 16-year-old boy who is

accused setting a young man on fire while he slept on an oakland bus. police say the 18-year-old victim luke who also goes by the name sasha is in stable condition at st. francis memorial hospital. other passenger on the same line 57 bus route say they were disturbed by what they saw. >> we saw the guy laying out there burnt. >> was he in bad shape? >> yes. his legs were all burnt up red and black. >> witnesses also say the victim was wearing either a kilt or am skirt. friends have set up a web page to raise money for his medical bills. and this morning it has already raised more than $5300. people protesting the deadly shooting of andy lopez say they are now conducting their own investigation. this is video of a martha protestors held yesterday in santa rosa. it was the sixth march since the shooting two weeks ago.

protestors also met with a district attorney. they will hold an event this weekend to collect witness statements and other evidence and they will present that to the da as well. a long-time day care worker in morgan hill arrested for being drunk on the job is expected in court today. police went to the pa child development center on monday morning after a parent says a day care worker was slurring her words and fumbling with the cutouts building. 50-year-old ann ma marie was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment. the state is also investigating. some people who live near roanoke park are hoping there is less traffic today after the gridlock they experienced during the opening of the new casino. thousands of gamblers made their way into northern california's largest casino. it was on opening day yesterday. local motels report their rooms are filling up. some gamblers gave up trying to get boom the casino and headed

32 miles authority to the river rock casino. >> it was so crowded there but you could barely find a place to play. and its not normally like that. >> the highway patrol says there could be heavy traffic in the area through the weekend. here's a look at the worst of it from news chopper 2. the chp says there was a 20-mile traffic jam on highway 101 north all the way from novato to roanoke park where intersections became blocked. the traffic jam peaked at 10:30 yesterday morning. it did level off by the afternoon and did not effect the evening commute. if you are going, officers recommend using back roads not 101. cal trans is delaying the demolition of the old eastern span of the bay bridge that was supposed to start this morning. cal tran says the delay is because the system to contain falling debris is not completely in place. it did not say when it expects work to begin but the entire

christie easily won reelection. capturing 60 percent of the vote in his victory speech. in new jersey democrats and republicans work together to get things done for the people who elect them. >> i know that if we can do this in trenton, new jersey. maybe the folks in washington, d.c. should tune in their tvs right now. see how it is done. >> its widely believed that christie will seek the 2016 republican presidential nomination. voters in texas rejected a plan to convert the astro dome into a convention center. that means the stadium will likely be torn down. the so-called eighth wonder of the world opened in 1965. it was once home to the houston astros and houston oilers. it was the first domed and air conditioned stadium. but it has been closed since 2009. colorado voters rejected the idea of creating a 51st state. rural counties in northern colorado breaking away from

denver in the southern half of the state. the movement was mostly a symbolic measure by people in northern colorado who complain they are ignored by state officials there. the san jose police department is trying something new in response to the severe staffing shortage. the department is making detectives take turns on patrols on the streets of san jose. 70 detectives will rotate on patrol units one day a month in a test program. the rotations are needed to effectively respond to emergency 911 calls but the plan has set off am heated debate in the department. >> we are having issues getting to those calls in a timely manner. and we hope the addition of these new officers will help to reduce that. >> those holes have to be filled. but it will come at an additional cost. as we stop investigating burglaries, narcotics, things of that nature. now domestic violence cases will go on hold. >> many are concerned the rotations will become permanent

and funston there. its not effecting a lot of the main traffic going through there. let's go out and take a look at the commute on the bridge getting into san francisco that looks good. no major problems. it looks like eastbound coming toward oakland could be a lane block but its so early and noncommute direction its not causing any slow traffic. to the other side nice picture here. i top want to mention something. we do have a new crash in livermore.

a lot of high clouds yesterday. temperatures warmed up. if you are in santa rosa and said my goodness its warm, well it was. it was 78 degrees. we have a lot of high clouds. a little different twist today. it will still be warm. there is an easterly breeze component. temperatures have been warming up. san jose will start you off at 48. end up with 75 degrees. it will probably be warmer that that in the santa clara valley. and i'm going 80 in santa cruz. what? yes i am. low clouds are trying to make it. it looks like they are getting chewed up. plenty of clouds continue to stream into the forth. but they are not organized. 40s for some. 50s for others. 39 half-moon bay. 54 san francisco. so again the lows are just all over the place here. they will generally run higher because we do have the high cloud deck. 26 in tahoe. 45 sacramento. and also up in ukiah look at the high clouds. mainly filtering in toward the north bay. but still very mild to warm.

confusion for drivers and cyclists. >> problem with that is you are constantly in a cars blind spot when you are to the right or left of a car. i believe you should be out in the middle of traffic. >> i stay out of it. it seems to be logically you can't go into it. >> oakland city leaders are listening to the complaints and confusions as they study the new type of bike lane. they are expected to decide next year whether to give the big green stripe the green light on other streets. they have unearthed the foundation of a cathedral buried in the 1906 earthquake. contractors were digging in san francisco's north beach neighborhood when they found the foundation of the holy trinity cathedral. a piece of the cathedral was presented to the church when it moved to a different location. >> it was really exciting because for us it is a good
