horrified when i showed her this video. it's unclear what the motive was, but the victim never saw it coming. he was sleeping right here in this spot on the sidewalk on 3rd street in the south of market when he was attacked by a man passing by. we want to warn you the video you're about to see is disturbing. >> the attacker wearing a light colored shirt and dark shorts comes strolling up the street and snaps. this surveillance video shows him repeatedly stomping on the man's head. he doesn't appear to move after the assault. after kicking him seven times, the attacker walks off calmly. >> today i showed this video to the director of coalition on homeless know in san francisco, she told me it's common for those to be assaulted. >> it's really sickening to see violence against anybody, especially when somebody is already in such a vulnerable

position, doesn't have a place to sleep, is forced to be on the concrete. >> reporter: this assault happened just before 5 a.m. on wednesday morning near the corner of 3rd street and bryant. two people stopped to help the injured homeless man and they appeared to call 911. minutes later, two officers arrived to check on the victim who slowly climbs to his feet and eventually walks off on his own. it's unclear what prompted this man to viciously attack a homeless person. >> it's very disturbing people like that can't be just out there rolling around. something has to be done about that. >> reporter: san francisco police told us today they have no record of this assault and the advocate told me they don't want to hire a report because they don't have faith they'll be taken seriously. live tonight, alex savage, ktvu

adult with a hate crime enhancement alleging they're motivated by the sexual identity. he was wearing a skirt who he was set on fire. sasha identifies as no gender. >> we have no problem with them wearing a skirt. at first i was nervous about it because i was a afraid of something like this happening and for a year and a half, it's been fine and for something like this to happen is -- is so horrible, not just for what it was, but they said to me that i would -- they wanted no take him to school and pick him up instead of him riding the bus and that's really sad to me. >> now today the bus stop is being decorated in support of sasha whose mother says she's

resilient. we'll have much more from his parents tonight on ktvu news at 10:00. in the news room, i'm noel walker. >> thank you. as noel showed us, students at sasha's high school showed support in a unique way. girls and boys wore skirts in honor of their classmates. he remains hospitalized with second and 3rd degree burns at san francisco general. students say they plan to support and help sasha through recovery. and san jose police are asking for the public's health after a man pulled a gun on a couple trying to sell him a puppy. on october 8th, the victims met the suspect on the 700-block of story road to potentially sell this pom rainian puppy -- pemeranian puppy. the victims drove off but the suspect did get away with the dog. police identified the suspect as

next week in support of teacher who is reached a contract impass. the teachers and the district have been negotiating with little success. they reached an impass this week. next wednesday, they're planning a rally to drum up support including salary and health benefits. the teacher's union is seeking a 7% increase and kaiser medical benefits. the district is offering a 3% pay increase with no increased medical benefits. the mount diablo unified is one of the largest in california including more than 56 school campuses and programs. it educates close to 32,000 students from kindergarten through high school and employs 1,600 full-time teachers and other certificated staff members. and other uc workers plan to strike with them. thousands of uc workers are planning a one day walk out to

protest with they're calling unfair labor practices. it says they'll be joined by members of the other uc unions including the california nurse's association. the walk out is planned for all ten uc campuses and five medical centers. and a new push is underway to reduce tuition throughout the university of california student. uc students and some lawmakers have teamed up to circulate a petition to lower skyrocketing petition. the once free university of california has become so expensive it's unattainable for many families. >> they've seen massive increase in tuition, almost trip whale it was. it's pricing kids out of college. they no longer can afford it. >> reducing pension costs and uc administrators salaries are just two ways that could help lower

had it, and it was around this morning. it was around the bay. so be ready for some fog tomorrow morning just like we had today. so that cools pacifica. >> and mostly clear outside right now. it's a beautiful night. that fog should pull back to the coast around midnight or 1:00. the bay area weekend saturday slightly cooler than today. that doesn't mean cold, just temperatures in the low 70s, not the upper 70s. then we have that chance for a shower as we go into tuesday now. late monday into tuesday and it looks less and less, you know, fruitful in terms of rainfall. overnight lows chilly, upper 30s and you'll see some frosty conditions. the high pressure sets up. this is dangerous. we've got some really nasty maritime accidents in the bay like this, poor visibilities.
