service to richmond and you can do go down to the berkeley stations and that's a way to get that let's go back to the desk. we are following an early morning apartment fire which forced many people out of their homes and some even jumped out of the windows to escape. it started at the whitman green apartment complex and a neighbor took this video. one said they jumped from a second floor apartment complex to escape. they put that fire out in just about 30 minutes. >> i heard people screaming fire, fire, so i got up and i came downstairs and the next thing i see is huge smoke. >> 15 people made it out of the

apartment safely but a dog was killed in the fire and the cause is still under investigation. happening today, crews will start taking a part the old eastern span of the bay bridge and they will tell us why they have concerns about how it delayed the process by a week. they are taking precautions to make sure it doesn't go flying and they will be using jack hammers and saws to remove the old roadway as they head into san francisco. workers will be prying up about 1400 feet of concrete between the old span's two steel peeks. this phase of the project was

originally scheduled without the debris containment system is not entirely in place and now they have that and the debris can get started. rebarb can fall from the upper deck of the demolition but they will not be cutting from the can't leave -- can't leaver. this roadwork should take place for six weeks or so and this work could be a potential distraction from drivers as they come across the new bridge and the chp officer told me this morning you will see some of this work going on and make sure people don't get distracted by the unusual sight. ktvu channel 2 morning news. this morning the death toll from typhoon haiyan is 1800 and could grow to as many as 10,000. they are trying to return to

would have screened it. >> well, the stolen truck looks like this and the license plate looks like 7u05789. if you have any information, call berkeley police. in san francisco, a new proposal could force graffiti taggers to clear it up and right now they are paying for graffiti, but under the new proposal, they must pay civil lawsuits and about $20 million a year is spent on cleaning up graffiti alone. the new board is expected to make sure it is ready but yesterday they practiced how to respond to a car accident and they will make it easier to access some troubled spots.

. welcome back to the ktvu channel 2 morning news, thieves broke into a bentley showroom but it was not the cars they were after instead they wanted some expensive watches. you can see they used their bodies to smash through the storefront window and they took four bentley what watches. the watches were worth $5,000 and that incident is under investigation. they are trying to pay the money and wantly over the next ten years for services. burning manhasset agreed to --p burn being man has agreed to take out a 1 million dollars policy for the insurance festival.
