p.m. this fight between undercover police officers, a bicyclist and bystanders is sparking accusations. hello. i am frank somerville. >> and i am julie haener. >> ktvu's david stevenson is live in san francisco where he spoke with neighbors and police about the violent clash. >> the clash at the housing complex is over reasonable versus excessive force and both sides said they have the video to back them up. >> reporter: video shot inside the housing complex shows a confrontation between police and residents. >> i hear my brother scream he couldn't breathe. >> reporter: as an officer holds back a young man a another man rushes up and punched by a plane clothed

officer. >> that suspect had a confrontation with other officers. >> reporter: police say it began after three officers identified themselves and attempted to stop a 20-year-old forral illegally riding a bicycle -- for illegally riding a bicyclist on a sidewalk. >> the lady was trying to put the handcuffs on him. >> reporter: police clashed with three other men who were trying trying to interfere. he is being held on $143,000 bond and faces three felony. >> i know him. he is employed. he goes a school. took up an interest in photography. this whole incident seems out of character for me with him.

this morning. the chp says thomas howard was speeding and may have been going more than 100 miles per hour when he lost control and hit several cars. ktvu's eric rasmussen is live where he just received an update on the investigation. >> reporter: they are looking into everything that could have played a role but he was going more than 100 miles per hour and they still need to rule out other possible factors in the crash such asthma canical failure. part -- such as mechanical failure. officers showed us what is left of the car at chp headquarters. nfl linebacker thomas howard was behind the wheel when the car flew out of control hitting three other vehicles. including a big rig. >> rear ended the big rig. jumped the center divide wall

and head on into a car. >> the driver of the car was also killed. investigators say thomas howard was going more than 100 miles per hour. a detail that comes as a shock to those who knew him best. he spoke to ktvu from texas tonight. he and other are struggling to accept that thomas howard could be responsible for the death of another driver. >> he was a laid back guy. funny guy. helped the community. helped his friends. he was a guy that you wanted to be around. >> reporter: howard played for the raiders from 2006-2010 and started his own foundation for student athletes and contributed to charity in texas and the bay area. the falcons released him last week. last night he tweeted he attended a show. the crash happened not far from

his home. we are still reaching out to the family of the innocent victim. that is the other driver who was hit and killed. we will have more tonight at 10:00 p.m. eric rasmussen, ktvu channel 2 news. >> more details now on thomas howard. he was a university of texas star player and a second round pick of the raiders in 2006. he spent 5 seasons in oakland and played 2011 and 2012 in cincinnati. this year he played two games with the falcons but he was just released last week. police say they arrested one of two men who burglarized a home this morning. a homeowner called police at 4:00 a.m. to report two men trying to get into the house. officers arrived and arrested a

28-year-old oakland man. he is pictured right there. police found evidence linking him to the burglary. they are still looking for the second suspect. new information involving the case of a san francisco firefighter suspected of being drunk behind the wheel of a fire truck that struck a motorcyclist. the district attorney is investigating whether other firefighters tried to cover up the details of the crash. michael quinn was on the way to a call when he went through a red light. he hit and injured a motorcyclist. firefighters are now being interviewed. the da is close to deciding whether to file charges. first responders trained for a real life disaster today. they simulated the response to a earthquake at peer one and performanced a underwater inspection of the peers -- and

aton,ed b.a.r.t. would claim this probation was -- astonished b.a.r.t. would claim this provision was included. the union showed us the six week family medical leave provision. today union and b.a.r.t. attorneys met to figure out what it could cost. it is unclear how b.a.r.t. management could have signed the deal without knowing about the provision. >> it is not cool to not read the contract for one thing. but, again, if there is something really bad in it it should be renegotiated. >> reporter: for now the union will take its time to work through this dispute. there is no indication the trains will stop running. >> i learned not to worry till it happened. if it does that will get a lot of people upset.

she got her in the ground position. >> a mother is spreading this video. she spreading the video of her daughter getting beat up because she said it will serve a greater good. she met with school officials today. ktvu's rob roth spoke to her and the school district about what they have done since the fight. >> reporter: this mother says she has only been able to look at the video once. it shows her daughter in the red being pushed and punched in a park by a schoolmate thursday while other students laughed and encouraged the fight. the violence was weeks of

violence by girls at high school. she met with officials today but they wouldn't tell her what if any discipline they were taken. she said the school should have done more. >> they could have started a bullying awareness campaign at the school. >> reporter: the school district told us the fight is under investigation and the school had been working with all the students involved involved -- involved. >> if we come to the conclusion that there is more we could have done for this child, we will take a hard, serious look at that. >> the bullying started after her daughter prevented them from giving marijuana to a student. after the video was circulated she posted it online because she wanted to send a message to parents can the school.

the surveillance cameras to verify anyone was disrespected. the owner sussed it started when -- suspected it started started when someone asked if military discounts were offered and they said no and they walked out. they may have lost customers today but loyal patrons rallied to their defense. >> they are kind and courteous and i think it is a smear attack. >> there is nothing more american than what their family is doing. they immigrated to the united states and started and business. >> reporter: yelp says any review that violates policy and removed. fellow retailers know how yelp can make or break a business. >> i use it all the time. it is a bummer when somebody is hating on a business and
