unfortunately cold air doesn't bring a lot of rain. maybe in a weeks time. but 5-10 degrees cooler. the wind will crank up tonight. it will be a north wind. we will go from the 70s to upper 40s and 50s. get ready its on its way. today though again not that dramatic. southern california -- northern california the focus of our attention. we will get partly cloudy skies out of it. mostly sunny partly cloudy to the north. wind picks up again this afternoon. a little cooler today. a lot of cooler tomorrow. temperatures will be in the 60s for everybody. a few upper r50s closer to that -- upper 50s closer to that fog. here is sal. we are looking at a decent commute to start off with. a lot of people are back from the thanksgiving holiday. and we have some fog here at the bay bridge toll plaza. just as steve mentioned we'll have a little bit of that

coming around. watch for just visibility to be bad when you run into this kind of fog. also the morning commute is going to be okay if you are driving in san francisco along northbound 101. that traffic continues to move along pretty well as you drive through there. there are no major problems approaching the 80 split. if you are driving on southbound 101 which is on the right hand side of your screen, the traffic there is moving along okay. and if you are driving on 580 westbound through the livermore valley, westbound 580 traffic and i think my maps should be up guys. are they? maybe not. yes, they are. 5808 traffic is moving along pretty welcoming up to 680. its 4:31 let's go back to the desk. topping our news vallejo police are warning people to be extra careful after they use the atm. alex savidge is joining us now. alex. >> reporter: good morning. none of them closed out their

atm transactions. that allowed thieves to move in afterward and steal money. this same scenario is played out three different times. the latest crime was yesterday here at this bank of america where we are this morning that is on sonoma boulevard. and in this situation things actually turned violent. police say this woman was taking out money here at one of the atm's about 2:30 in the afternoon. the woman started to walk away and saw that man move over to the atm she had been moves the victim realized she hadn't closed out her transaction and she went over and tried to stop the man. >> on the 3400 block of sonoma boulevard at the bank of america a woman's atm transaction was interrupted and basically what we believe was an attempt to rob her of her funds. >> reporter: and police say in this case the man grabbed that

woman by the neck and pinned her against the wall as he took out cash from her account and took off. and police are still looking for her this morning. police are noticing if this man may have been the same person responsible for this two other recent similar crimes in vallejo. police are warning everybody to be aware when you are using the atm and make sure you finish out that transaction before you leave. live in vallejo alex savidge ktvu channel 2 news. we have more details now about the atm scam called shoulder surfing. in october ktvu reported on a scam in san francisco that cost some bank of america customers thousands of dollars. police recovered $11,000 from one suspect arrested in this scheme. bank of america says its aware of the scam and is working with law enforcement to address the problem. new this morning two small earthquakes shook the southern edge of santa clara county. the quake hit about 2:05 this

morning. five miles south of gilroy. it was downgraded from an official 3.9. now there was a 2.5 in the same area a half hour earlier. no reports theophanies damage or injuries. oakland police are searching for a suspect in a dead willly overnight shooting. police say a man was shot to death around 10:00 last night at a home on coolidge avenue. >> would you believe there may have been some sort of vehicle involved? what involvement was it at this time? we do not know. >> now its the 84th homicide of the year for oakland. the stench of smoke permeants the hallways of an apartment building after a close with a garbage bin. the building is on continental

way. the smoke got in through a garbage shoot. >> the garbage can caught on fire somehow. and the fire spread up to the third and second floor. >> the battalion chief says most of the smoke was on the third floor so the first crews on the scene looked for the fire up there. second crew arrived and helped out. it was the third crew that found the fire on the ground floor and put it out. fortunately no one was hurt. san francisco police now looking for the person who killed a man over his sony play station. it happened late sunday afternoon when the victim and his girlfriend drove to the bay view district to sell a newly released game console to someone who -- the 22-year-old victim was shot several times. >> they obviously drove away from the scene as soon as they

could and able to get ahold of a police officer who gave them aid and called for an ambulance. >> the victim and his girlfriend both from san francisco ended up a few blocks away on bay shore boulevard near 101. the woman was not hurt but the man died at san francisco general. now they had advertised the new ps4 on instar -- on instagram hoping to make some profit. concerns about bully willing be addressed at a public meeting tonight. the school district called the meeting after a fight at hercules high. the transgender student had reported being bullied before the fight. the public meeting will be held at lavonia middle school in richmond. that is at 6:30 tonight. the teenager set on fire on

an ac transit bus may return to school today. the 18-year-old was attacked while sleeping on the ac transit bus four weeks ago. someone set sasha's skirt on fire. a 16-year-old boy has admitted to setting that fire and remains in jail awaiting his next court date. according to the group shopper track online sales are expected to be huge hit this year. analysts say cyber monday sales could reach $2 billion. last year on sales hit $1.5 billion. cyber monday forcing fedex to prepare for its busiest day in history. fedex is expected to move about 22 million shipments but it won't be untilth end of the holiday season that fedex employees can slow down. on december 9th and 16th they are expected to move an additional 20 million shipments on those days. fedex could have

competition when it comes to cyber delivery. amazon.com is working on a new delivery service called prime air. when it launches, unmanned drones will deliver packages to your doorstep. each drone will be able to ship packages that weigh up to five pounds but the copters won't be ready for another four to five years. new this morning police say a two-year-old who fell into a creek is making a strong recovery and is off life support and fully functioning. family members say the two-year- old fell into the water saturday afternoon while fishing with his grandmother. rescue crews rushed the child to the hospital in critical condition but now say he is likely to make a full recovery. they credit the child's age and the temperature of the water with saving his life. >> if the water is cold enough, then it also puts them into a state of shock. it preserves the cardiac and

brain function. >> rescuers also say if the child had not been wearing a shirt, it would have been much more difficult to spot him in that murky water. a san carlos gas pipeline under scrutiny about its safety is going back into service today. the line was taken out of service in early october when questions about its safety were raised by an engineer who worried that old welding could cause another blast like the san bruno disaster. city officials say the pipeline still needs further testing and upgrades. time is 4:39. federal investigators will examine a new york commuter train to try to determine what caused it to derail killing four people and injuring more than 60 others. a locomotives pushing seven passenger cars around a curve yesterday morning when the whole train left the tracks. the force of the impact sent passengers flying. three of the four people who

died were sent outside the train. >> our mission is to understand not just what happened but why it happened with the intent of preventing it from happening again. >> the speed limit on that curve where the train derailed is 30 miles an hour. investigators don't know how fast the train was going. this morning we are learning more information about the sudden death of actor paul walker. since being killed in a firey car crash, fans have been keeping vigil at the site of the accident. 40-year-old walker was a passenger in a car when it was speeding. tmz is reporting the car steering may have malfunctioned. the driver has been identified as 38-year-old roger rodas. a close friend of walker. walk ear's close friend visited the crash site and visibly upset. he placed a single rose.

welcome back to the ktvu channel 2 morning news. its 4:44. the in charge of fixing the healthcare.gov website says his team has met its goal. the website can handle 50,000 users simultaneously. that was the goal the obama administration set for november 30th. the website speed has more than tripled -- tripled. >> the bottom line healthcare.gov is night and day from where it was on october 1st. >> the next major test of healthcare.gov is likely to come during the next few weeks.

a surge in enrollment is the 23rd. a new planned parenthood -- the new clinic will be located in redwood city. it will be initially opened 20 hours a week. residents are circulating. game wardens with the state department of fish and wildlife have a nonlethal option for locating wildlife that has came into residential areas. senator jerry hill who represents san mateo introduced a bill allowing game wardens to partner with nonprofits to safely capture and relocate mountain lions. >> this gives them the

opportunity to make other decisions. >> the law goes into effect january 1st but the department of fish and wildlife has changed its operating procedures so far at least seven mountain lions statewide have been saved. sfo is enlisting the help of dogs to make traveling a little more enjoyable. volunteers from the san francisco spca will begin visiting the airport with eight certified therapy dogs. their purpose is to help soothe the frayed nerves of stressed out passengers. the wag brigade as they are called wear vests that say pet me. actor will farrell surprised viewers of a south dakota newscast that turned into john burgundy were anchoring their newscast. the comedian played the fictional anchor man stayed completely in character.

while he kept a straight face his coanchor and sports anchor said they struggled to keep their composure. you can see the entire newscast on our website at ktvu.com. just look for it on the home page under hot topics. 4:47 is the time. sal is keeping an eye on traffic. that is pretty funny. i don't think i could keep a straight face sitting next to him. >> i think it would be a little hard. let's take a look at what we have now. the traffic is moving along very well. westbound 92 san mateo bridge. that looks good heading out to the high-rise and until major problems if you are driving on interstate 80 nearby. we are also looking at the freeways coming in on the bay bridge approach. you can see there is a little bit of fog there. just as steve has mentioned. no problems on the bridge itself getting into san francisco. 580 westbound looks pretty good as you drive to castro valley and 238 traffic is easy getting over to 880. let's go back to steve.

thank you. very good morning. some fog. it is transitioning day today. it will be sunny but not as warm as sunday. the cooling begins to the cooler. to the cooler. begins on tuesday and then much, much colder as we go into wednesday. i mean really colder. some of that fog is moving in advance of a front that is moving into the north. probably not a lot of presip out of this once you get a cold regime like this. possibility though of hit and miss showers tomorrow. 30s on the temps or 40s. some of these temps will look rather warm. there will be 20s for lows here later this week. five to ten degrees cooler. a little cooler today. the wind will crank up this afternoon. clouds all move into the north bay. the temperatures will zoom right on down. upper 40s or very low 50s.

you can see the leading edge of that cold air coming into seattle. the rain into portland. there will be rain for northern california by the time this system arrives it will give us some cloud cover but more cold than wind. be some snow up in the sierra. it will be a little cooler today. still 60s for a few but upper 50s. here's the deal a little breezy and cooler. might be hit and miss showers and i mean cold. some of the lows inland will be in the 20s as we go into wednesday. oops thursday. and then clouding up over the weekend. 4:50 is the time. hunger games topping the charts at the box office.

been detained for questioning after man died in the parking lot of arrow head stadium in kansas city. the incident happened last night after the kansas city chiefs lost to the denver broncos. police say it did not involve fans from opposing teams. now police also believe the man died after some sort of confrontation between a driver and a strange tear he found in his car. they are calling the deaths suspicious but have not made any arrests. supervisors are expected to consider -- in honor of a teenage boy shot and kill the by a sheriffs deputy. a memorial with flowers and pictures were created for andy lopez. lopez was killed when the deputy mistakenly thought the toy gun he was carrying was a real weapon. supervisors are mulling a few ideas include a park in the moe land neighborhood. there are reports that an

off duty firefighter was the one that helped pull people to safety after a car fire on interstate 580. i want to show you the tow truck towing the car away. that car went up in flames. the chp says the fire blocked the connector but no one was hurt. movie goers continue to crave leftovers this weekend making the hunger games catching fire number one at the box office. the movie brought in $75 million in its second weekend. disney's frosty film frozen came until second bringing in 67 million. the best man holiday came in number four and home fronts came in at number five. the hunger games also has effected more than just ticket sales. its effecting archery sales. since the release of the hunger

games movies the target audience has changed dramatically. women and children are taking up the support. before you would only find green camouflage when you walked down the aisle but now you find polka dots, ponytails, and pink bows. >> before it was adults males and females in it. now its the children are big focus. and they are our big market now. >> last year kid bows flew off the shelves faster than stores could keep them in stock. as the holiday season gets under way they reminding homeowners about the fire risk of dry christmas trees. christmas trees are linked to hundreds of fires every year. this video shows how quickly a dry tree can go up in flames there. compared to a tree that has been watered regularly.
