that will -- deadline that will be missed. the new developments were announced an hour ago and ktvu's tom vacar will tell us where things stand. >> reporter: that new eastern span of the bay bridge will stand for 150 years, fully completed. without the broken bolts that led to the emergency repair. it is quite an accomplishment. we learned about the problem in the summer when bolts broke as they were being tightened. the solution, built a clamping system that would buy pass the bolts and hold parts together in a marriage earthquake. the remate estimated 10 to $15 million came in at 25 million but that is within money budgeted. >> 11:00 a.m. today all major work on the permanent fix for the broken

the events and how to prepare for them. police released the identity of a doctor shot and killed yesterday. a man with a gun entered the office and killed the 46-year- old doctor. the gunman also wounded two women, one a doctor, another a relative of a patient. the man then killed himself. they believe they have identified the gunman but they are with holding his name till they notify relatives. alameda county is celebrating healthy nail sudawn lay -- salon day. nail salon workers provided demonstrations of what is means to do their job in a healthier way. the county provides funding for salons that make safe choices. >> what we have done here is to

pay $80,000 fine and reimburse $35,000 for emergency response and investigation. the explosion injured a worker. it happened in a machine. agilent technologies had two similar explosions in the 7 months before that they failed to report. former bp drilling engineer was convicted in the 2010 oil spill in the gulf of mexico. a jury found him guilty of obstruction of justice for deleting a message to a supervisor after the spill, it referred to the amount of oil gushing out, it was three times the amount they were telling the public. he faces up to 20 years in prison. san francisco supervisors will consider a proposal to ban the sale of plastic water bottles on city property. he introduced to proposal saying it would be limited to

mcmath and her family. hello. i am frank somerville. >> and i am julie haener. >> the family and friends of jahi mcmath are gathering right now. they say even if you can't come to the candlelight vigil there is something you can do. ktvu's allie rasmus is live in oakland. what do the parents want? >> reporter: they are asking people to keep their daughter in their thoughts and prayers. the family of jahi mcmath are hosting a prayer vigil here at the church on empire road in oakland. it just got underway. we can hear music and we have seen a few people opening the doors to head inside. prayer service is open to the public. doctors declared jahi mcmath brain dead a week ago. she went in on december 9 for a tonsillectomy. she suffered bleeding after the surgery
