. a man is in critical condition after being shot in san francisco. it happened around 1:50 near a nightclub on howard street. police say when they arrived they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach and say that so far the victim has been uncooperative with investigators and no arrests have been made. time 4:32, and it's the end of on era. tonight the 49ers host the

a kit epiwas stole phren the animal care and control center last week. we're learning she's been found safe. a hotel manager found it after seeing reports on the news. surveillance showed two women at the shelter during the abduction. the kitten is expected to be reunited with new owners this afternoon at the shelter. today is a deadline for people to sign up for health insurance under the new affordable care act in order to get coverage starting january 1. here in california call centers for the state's health care exchange have been receiving 20,000 calls a day in recent weeks. one woman in sacramento says that up until now only her three-year-old son has health insurance because it was too expensive. >> it's almost half of the cost. now with all of us being added onto a health care plan, it worked out great for us. . >> today is the final day to

apply, but open enrollment continues through march 31. happening now, people across the bay area taking advantage of stores open around the clock to get their last minute holiday shopping done. bay area shoppers were out full force this weekend. finding a parking spot was nearly impossible. many stores expect big crowds leading up to the final minutes before they close their doors. the data breach at target across the country is springing lawsuits and high level investigation. two class action lawsuits against the discount retailer have been filed here in california and a third one is in oregon. new york, connecticut, massachusetts and south dakota attorney generals have launched their own investigations to find out when target knew there was a problem.

retail analysts say the number of sales at target stores is down more than 3 percent compared with the final weekend before christmas last year. that's after target tried to get more customers into its stores with a 10 percent discount all day saturday and sunday. in contrast, other stores report strong sales throughout the weekend. this is a big week for two of bay areas biggest transit agencies. union workers are set to vote on revised contract. a tentative agreement could end a long labor dispute that ended in two strikes this year. management agreed to expand bereavement leave and other concessions. late friday there was another agreement on a new pay and benefit package. the two sides have been in negotiations since march.

a wildfire now fully contained as people head back to see what, if anything, they have left. 34 homes were completely destroyed, and other homeowners are reporting a lot of close calls. they're working to restore power, and it might be until tomorrow when everything is back up and running. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. the time 4:45. it's believed that all americans have been evacuated from south sudan. the last u.s. citizen evacuated yesterday after another attempt on saturday had to be aborted when u.s. military aircraft came under fire.

thieves stole this army corporal's christmas presents. the couple had saved for the biggest christmas ever, spending $5,000 on gifts for the family, but the thieves broke in through a back window and even into their four-year- old's room. >> i've lived here a long time. the family has been able to replace about 75% of what's stolen thanks to donations from strangers and donations from police and firefighters. spite of what's happened, cookie says the best present of all is simply having her daddy home. the roadways looking pretty good. not too much traffic due to the holiday, so that's a good thing if you have to work this week.

dead. >> a driver and a passenger are being described as white men in their mid 20s, and the car a mid 90s faded blue buick or pontiac. a homicide investigation is underway in oakland after a body was discovered in the shopping center parking lot. police say someone found a body in the wal-mart parking lot on edgewater drive right off interstate 880 yesterday afternoon. police say they're treating it as a hock side but haven't said if the body is of a man or woman or how the person died. in the meantime, police investigating another deadly shooting. the victim 34-year-old wayne germane was found in the parking lot of an apartment complexion redwood parkway. no arrests have been made. anyone with information is asked to call police. organizers say safety is a top priority at this year's festival. last year alissa wandered away
