expected to present his diagnosis on the 13-year-old declared brain dead following a surgery which was routine to remove her tons sills. well, it simply has been an emotional rollercoaster for the 13-year-old young girl. >> reporter: now court hearings, all this while the teen's parents are fighting to keep her alive at children's hospital. they appointed an independent third partner and the judge ordered doctors to try their own tests which is meant to measure blood flow to her brain. as you know she came for a surgery and there was

only on 2, 4 robbery suspects are being questioned following 6 of the half hour crime spree in san jose. between 4:00 a.m. and 10:30 p.m., two boys and 2 girls randomly tar getted people on snell avenue and one victim spotted the suspect's car. at least two of the suspects are juveniles and they are giving police false names. they are still searching for the smash and grab robber who pulled off a bold heist inside the east ridge mall. it happened when the mall was packed with holiday shoppers and they say they were smashed at the jewelers and it sounded like a gunshot. >> they were like wow, i was

and it is a wonderful morning left here with the 13th annual toy drive. they are filling the place up with toys, and people are coming by dropping off new one yapped -- new unwrapped toys for needy children here in san francisco who may otherwise wake up and not have a present to open. you can see they are collecting hundreds of toys and the goal here with this toy drive which goes on throughout the day to collect at least 10,000 toys believes that they will reach and surpass that goal. we talked a short time ago with one woman who heard about this on television and she decided to come down and donate some toys and his tone why she did it. >> i heard about 6 or so and i think a lot of the people i know have everything they need. so this is the lilly can do. -- the little i can do.

. it was approved to require gun dealers to have a police permit and it requires stores to be opening up within 150 feet of homes but they say the ordinance was improperly approved and violates existing laws. prosecutors are still deciding if they will file charges against a colorado man who shot and killed his step daughter after mistaking her for an intruder. he claimed he shot her after he heard somebody trying to get

into the basement of his colorado springs home. it was his 14-year-old stepdaughter. she was rushed to the hospital but did not survive. it's really scary, especially since it was somebody around my age. >> and they have a homeowner protection act and it's called the make my day law and allows people to defend themselves from intruders in many instances. it comes from the line which says, go ahead, make my day. some people received their long-term unemployment benefits and congress was considering an extension and it's scheduled to take a procedural vote to find out about another three months. they support that extension saying it's no longer needed since the economy is approving

until 10:30 at night. the suspect's description and car description matched and had officers on the lookout. they reported that the suspects were arm add and they were stealing personal items such as wallets and purses such as who they were able to catch up with in a black car. >> they want to know about other areas of the city and the northern part of downtown area. >> police say two of the suspects are mail, two are -- male and two are female and some appeared to give false names and they are being interviewed right now. they are investigating whether the group is responsible for all of the robberies and they

are advising people to be aware much all of their robberies but the robbery happened in other commercial neighborhoods just like this one. janine de la vega ktvu channel 2 morning news. at. >> police are looking for a suspect after a hit-and-run crash injured an 11-year-old boy. he was hit by two cars about 530 last night and the driver of one car stayed at the scene but the driver of an older white van took off leaving the boy lying in front of a crosswalk. i looked over and i seen a little boy laying in the street and i was like you know god please be okay. >> the boy is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries. san jose police released

some new frightening video and this happened at the wal-mart on story road. witnesses say after he crashed into the store he started to attack customers and you can see the car going through the front right there. he was charged with two counts of assault and vandalism. it will lead to more witnesses coming forward. happening right now, stores all over the bay area are open and they want to grab those last minute gifts like me. many have extended their hours and they are open around the clock and there is some video from the union city wal-mart. we spoke to some other last minute shoppers who like the last minute shoppers who say it works around their schedules. >> we didn't have time all week. the many people we spoke

ruling, controversial measure b reform plan, they said this ruled and can not enforce current employees to pay more into their pensions but the ruling does allow the city to cut employee's salaries to offset the rising pension costs and both sides are claiming victory. >> it's clear the city can essentially cut pay and utilize those savings to pay for those benefits. >> it guts measure b and it says what measure b tried to do was illegal. >> city employees filed a lawsuit after what san jose voters supported last year and it will appeal the judge's ruling. and several people had been killed at the northeast over the last couple of days. saturday afternoon more than 35 states have been hit with freezing rain, ice snow and

we have an interesting morning and the rest of us are in the 30s and 40s around the bay. a few degrees warmer and no most areas because of those high clouds, for the afternoon, hazy sunshine and it is a spare the air day, temperatures will warm back into the mid-to-upper 60s for some of the warmer spots and oakland actually broke a record and before that, it was san jose thaiing a record and we have an increase in clouds, we are hoping for the possibility of a few showers and at this point it looks like it will remain offshore and we will remain dry through the weekend. slightly warmer for some, 34 and san francisco checking in and it is relatively mild all morning long, upper 50s, concord checking in right about 40s and for the afternoon back
