family of jahi mcmath who is on life support has now found a long term care facility for her here in the bay area. that ist the word from the family's attorney. several doctors concluded jahi mcmath is brain dead after suffering complications from a tonsillectomy. the hospital says there is no hope and wants to remove the life support. the family is hoping for a miracle and went to court to keep the hospital from doing that while they searched for a long term care facility. the attorney says the family hopes to work with children's hospital to coordinate the transfer to the facility. and their attorney is expected to speak about this live at any moment. these are cameras set up outside the hospital there in oakland. as soon as that attorney and the family come out we will bring you the statements live. ups scrambled to deliver

north beach. a food handler tested positive for hepatitis a. anyone who ate or drank there mave been exposed. officials tell us -- may have been exposed. officials say many are vaccinated against the disease but people who may have been exposed who are not acsinated could take protections. >> you can prevent the disease. even though we think the risk is low, it is worth knowing about it so they could make the decision. >> officials say the food handler is restricted from work till she recovered -- he is recovered. man accused of killing a woman on christmas day. ktvu's ann rubin tells us the suspect and the victim had a

history of violence. >> reporter: the victim was seriously injured in a previous incident but her relationship with ernesto rodriguez didn't end after that. ernesto rodriguez was arrested this morning for her murder. the body of alma roque ortega was found by his parents inside their apartment. documents so the two had a troubled past. in 2012 ernesto rodriguez was arrested for assaulting alma roque ortega. he was sentenced to jail time, ordered to take domestic violence classes. in august alma roque ortega asked the order be lifted so he could have peaceful contact. police say this information will be part of their case. >> this is absolutely part of the investigation, determining the current status of their relationship, the past status of their relationship, the past cases where law enforcement had contact. >> i was shocked because she

was the quiet girl, like, nice. i couldn't believe it. >> reporter: friends of alma roque ortega say they are working on a fund raiser to help the family. ann rubin, ktvu channel 2 news. we know that people celebrate on new years by firing their guns but ktvu's john sasaki was surprised to find out how common it is in richmond. last year there were 100 shootings in a 6 hour period. >> reporter: richmond was quiet but new year's eve is a different story. >> sounds like afghanistan. >> reporter: all the gunfire while residents celebrate the new year. this is the shot spotter system that records all the shooters in the city. >> concern for our safety and the people that is out there. >> reporter: 800 shootings over the last four months of last year but more than 100

shootings in 6 hours over last new year's eve. in those 117 incidents half involved multiple gun shots. 37 were more than 5 rounds and 16 were 10. the highest number 28. >> what goes up must come down. >> reporter: police want to convince you to stop firing into the air. >> people can be hurt. property could be damage. >> reporter: police say in 1999 a man was killed by a falling bullet. >> we had gun shots go off in one area and we have been able to locate houses or cars or people hit. >> reporter: that is why police will be out with the shot spotter able to pinpoint a gun shot within 25 meters. john sasaki, ktvu channel 2 news. we want to go live to the

live press conference regarding jahi mcmath. >> yesterday was a day of thanksgiving and time with family and christmas and the family was praying praying for a a miracle -- for a miracle. >> we shared stories and lot of prayers and actually had smiles and laughter up there. but still hoping for a miracle and looks like we may have gotten one. we found a place that is willing to take jahi mcmath and to care for her and right now we are asking children's hospital to work with us on getting that to happen. as of right now looks like we may have found a miracle to keep jahi mcmath alive and give her a fighting chance to wake up. >> reporter: [ inaudible question ] >> it is in the greater bay

area and it would be paid for by thuinsurance that is -- by the insurance that is already in place and it will cost less. >> reporter: [ inaudible question ] >> insurance obtained through work like everyone has. >> reporter: what about those who say this has gone far enough? the time has come to let her go? >> what people are those? >> reporter: we heard from viewers and the hospital. >> have them have their kids change places and see if they feel the same way. always easy to talk about it when it is someone else's child. this family has done nothing but want the best for their child. when it has gone far enough is when god says it is far enough, not some viewer. >> reporter: [ inaudible question ] >> there is a procedure that has to take place and that is something we have to discuss

contacts. there was an opportunity but it was in new york, now this opportunity is within 50 miles. >> reporter: [ inaudible question ] >> we have seen her blood pressure go to normal and be able to stay normal. there was a lot of times when her blood pressure was irregular but lately she was stable and she had more movement in her body. she is still showing signs of breathing on her own. we are still very hopeful. very hopeful. >> listening to jahi mcmath's uncle and the family attorney saying they prayed for a miracle and they have found a miracle, a spot that may take jahi mcmath for long term care while she is on life support. doctors declared her brain dead

fremont, december 26. look at the warm temperatures. these numbers 7 to 10 degrees above the average. right now we have high clouds to the north and west and those will be moving into the bay area tomorrow afternoon. right now, temperatures are dropping off. showing you 50s towards shows 58. san francisco 58 degrees. that spare the air alert, towards san jose, a string all week long. one scheduled for tomorrow as well. air quality doesn't prove a bit into friday. we have a weak weather system from the north. lower the number the better the air quality. you can see where we were at. everybody coming down for the north bay, east bay and the valley for friday. still we have the spare the air alert for tomorrow and into the weekend as well because the weather pattern will be warming back up. over night lows tomorrow
