traffic, more speeding. unsafe driving behaviors. >> reporter: he was hit and killed tuesday afternoon. that driver was also booked on gross voluntary manslaughter. >> yesterday people may have been in a hurry, people may have been not paying attention. >> reporter: san francisco had another incident yesterday involving two drivers who hit it same pedestrian and both fled the scene. one was later arrested. the pedestrian is recovering. at 6:00 p.m. what the city is doing to make the streets safer for everyone. david stevenson ktvu channel 2 news. >> they released a statement saying the driver wasn't on a trip at the time of the accident. in oakland a roll over crash killed a woman and injured a man on 580 around 2:35 a.m. the california highway patrol says a white suv veered off the highway and over turned.

the woman in the suv was killed. a man who was driving was taken to the hospital. the cause is under investigation. police arrested a suspected drunk driver who crashed into patrol car. police shared this picture of the crash around 2:15 a.m. this morning. the air back deployed in the collision with the car. two officers are recovering from minor injuries. the number of dwi arrests was similar to the past few years. the california highway patrol reports 50dui arrests over two days. statewide, 300 -- 234 arrests. and there were two deadly crashes. teen became the city's first homicide of 2014. investigators say the 13-year- old was walking home when he was shot several times about

flipped and landed on the roof near tomales bay. residents of a neighborhood -- residents of a neighborhood woke up after a drunk driver crashed into parked cars. the driver's car ended up on top of another car. the california highway patrol says the driver was speeding over railroad tracks when he went air born and knocked over a sign, hit fences and damaged parked cars before landing on top of a 1964 mustang. >> my bedroom sleeping, heard a big boom. the driver was in the back seat of the car. had a bloody nose. out of it. you could smell alcohol. >> the driver was taken to a hospital. no one else was hurt. the driver faces drunk driving charges. man who was drinking on new year's eve accidentally shot himself in the head. officers say after 9:00 p.m. last night they responded to the call where they found a man

with a gun shot wound to his head. it appears the victim consumed alcohol and handling a loaded fire arm when it went off. the fight over the feat of jahi mcmath has a hospital spokesman claiming the attorney for the 13-year-old girl's family is fueling false hopes. ktvu's cristina rendon is live with the accusations and the family's response. >> reporter: well, it was very clear today the hospital spokesperson believes the family attorney for jahi mcmath is deceiving them. he said the belief she could come back to life is a hoax but the family says the plans to move her are very real. >> reporter: he is calling out jahi mcmath's family attorney saying he created a problem he can't solve. >> he made all these demands they could take the body, they

guns properly. california's laws lead to a last minute rush on sales at gun stores. the new year brings new laws to california, including one that provides protection for undocumented immigrants. the trust act prohibits law enforcement from detaining undocumented immigrants residents based on status. another law allows transgender students to participate in school supports and use school bath rooms consistent with their identity and no texting of any kind when behind the wheel, anyone under 18 is prohibited from using hands free technology and minimum wage goes up, to $9 an hour. $10 in 2016. television news crew caught a romantic scene on camera and shared it on live tv. >> live there. i don't think that is her.

new year's day marks 100 years of commercial aviation in tampa florida people gathered for a reenactment of the airline flight. it marks the first airline. the first flight across tampa bay in 1914 lasted 23 minutes.
