[chanting] >> it may be cold in green bay but these 49er fans say their team is red hot. tonight we're among the faithful who made the trip despite the freezing temperatures. good evening. i'm ken wayne. the 49ers are getting ready to take on the packers at lambeau field tomorrow in what could be one of the coldest, if not, the coldest nfl game on record. joe fonzi is in green bay where he found 49er fans all buddenned up in red and gold. >> reporter: the quiet city of appleton, wisconsin. 30 miles south of green bay. it houses the nfl teams who play the packers and today it hosted this -- [chanting] >> reporter: the 49ers held a

down 15, 25 below. this is a serious situation. in terms of snowfall, there was a chance of snow. we were concerned about it earlier in the week. you can pick out the snow pattern, basically to the south, closer to chicago. in terms of the coldest games in nfl history, here they are, you can see the first three there, a lot of games around zero and subfreezing temperatures, there's the famous ice bulb, 1967 with game time temperature at least at kickoff, 13 we low. i think we'll be right about here with temperatures around zero. in fact, here is the forecast for green bay. here is the latest observation. currently, 17 degrees. winds out of the north- northwest at 8 miles an hour. a windchill around 7 degrees. forecast for tomorrow is this -- we'll break it down by the quarter. first quarter, zero degrees on track to reach 5 below. that's with the temperature. as we mentioned, dangerous windchills, could be 15, 25 degrees below zero with the winds out of the north right around 10, 15 miles an hour. back here in the bay area, completely different story. still cold here, not that cold. could be talking about upper

game. we just got word of a search warrant right now for a -- a search, rather, for a missing 7-year-old boy. a command post has been set up in the 7700 block of krause avenue. that's near bancroft east in east oakland. we haven't received a description on the missing boy or where the boy went missing in oakland. we'll bring you more on this breaking news as soon as we get more details for you. developments in the kidnapping of a 7-year-old in antioch. the girl was rescued and the suspect was caught. the girl is back with her family after being kidnapped at gunpoint in front of her mother. we brought you this as breaking news last night. alex savidge has more on how she was rescued and the man accused of taking her. >> reporter: a desperate search for a 7-year-old came to a dramatic end late last night in the parking lot of the antioch marina. this is where place say they cornered 343-year-old david

doug -- 43-year-old david douglas and rescued the young victim. it was around 8:00 last night when police say douglas followed the girl and her mother home from this walmart. investigators say he grabbed the girl, trettenned her -- threatened her mother with a rifle and trove off with the child. an amber alert was issued for douglas's tan toyota camry. >> we had been sitting next to that car for about 20 minutes. >> reporter: a few hours later, lashay burks spotted the car parked next to her. she saw people inside and it didn't seem quite right. so she tried to get help. >> i'm blessed to be able to help somebody else. i'm thankful i was there, you know, and i think everything happens for a reason. there was a reason why why i was there -- why i was there. >> reporter: police moved in and police say the man they took into custody may have tried to abduct a different girl just a day earlier here at the same walmart on lone tree way. >> this individual approached

her daughter and also approached her and noted he worked for social services and asked the daughter to come with him. the mother realized he was not from social services and he left. >> reporter: there was no police report made about that earlier attempted abduction on thursday. but during last night's search, police say surveillance video from the walmart gave a clear look at douglas and his getaway car. crucial evidence that helped bring a little girl back to there family. alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news. there is a happy ending to the search for a missing at- risk teenager in pleasanton. it's a story we first told you about yesterday when 16-year- old samuel brisk was reported missing. we're told the teenager was reunited with his family overnight and is now safe at home. an oakland motorcycle club came to children's hospital to comfort the family of jahi mcmath. the club expresenced support and gave -- expressed support

and gave hugs to members of the male. jahi is expected to be moved to an undisclosed location by tuesday at 5:00 p.m. that's the deadline to take her off life support. jahi says the family is responding to her. >> i said hey, jahi, she moved her legs and arms. heart is beating good. she's warm. she looks beautiful. this is the best glow i've seen she had. >> she was three claired brain dead after having a heart attack following a tonsillectomy. today dowzs of people took preventive measures to try to keep them healthy this flu season. a resurgence of h1n1 on the swine flu is prompting a rush to vaccinate before the flu season peaks in the next few weeks. patti lee joins us live from san rafael where the definition of at-risk groups has expanded.

>> reporter: for the first time, marin community clinics are allowing, even encouraging young adults to drop in for vaccines. that's significant because this demographic was considered low risk during flu season but not this year. free flu vaccinations for children drew dozens of kids to this san rafael clinic. also waiting, young adults who just wanted the shot as a precaution. >> we haven't seen more flew cases than usual. we do see that young, healthy people are seeking the shot. >> reporter: just last year, the clinic required young adults to make an appointment if they wanted the shot. but the cfdz cdc is warning about -- but the centers for disease control is warning about the resir juns of the h1n1 -- resurgence of the h1n1 changed that policy. now it's no longern the very young or very -- longer the

very young or old. >> i think it's more that group of people is the most likely group not to get vaccinated. >> reporter: in downtown san rafael, we met a 31-year-old who explained he didn't get flu shots because the virus rarely caught him. >> probably once every couple of years. i don't get sick that often. >> reporter: he had not heard about the cdc's recent warning that the predominant flu strain this season is the dangerous h1n1 and that it has claimed three lives in california already this season. including a 41-year-old woman from santa clara county. >> i wasn't aware that people are dying from the flu. maybe i will get a vaccine now. >> reporter: flu shot clinics in marin county are scheduled through the end of the month because the flu season will not peak for a few more weeks. there is still time to reep the benefits of a shot or a spray which take about two weeks to be effective. live in san rafael, patti lee, ktvu channel 2 news. more details on the flu vaccine according to the cdc.

a muni street car crashed into a big rig in texas sending four people to the hospital -- san francisco sending four people to the hospital around 12:45 this afternoon. the four hurt suffered minor injuries. a witness described what he saw. >> the train had the right-of- way and then he just ran right into the 40-foot container and it was a pretty loud bang noise. >> police have not said whether anyone was cited for that accident. now to developing news, millions in the midwest and the northeast are digging out from a major winter snowstorm.

here's a picture of massachusetts. a fire truck was frozen while responding to a fire. look at that. now those same residents are bracing for a colder polar blast predicted to reach two- thirds of the country tomorrow. this new snowstorm is so cold, the predicted temperatures haven't been seen in decades. and that has many public officials worried. authorities are taking action now to try to keep people safe. >> reporter: just a day after much of the country got walloped by a snowstorm, now much of the country has to prepare for a deep freeze. the national weather service is warning on saturday night moving into tuesday in the midwest and northeast, much of the country, so be prepared for for life-threatening windchills and bone-chilling temperatures. weert talking about negative 50 degrees in some parts of minnesota in north dakota are possible. negative 20 in mid-atlantic states. in fact, on monday, the high is supposed to be negative 15 degrees and with the low of negative 30 officials in

minnesota have canceled school statewide for the first time in 17 years. >> kind of weather where in five minutes, ten minutes kids can get significant frostbite and the governor want to make sure all kids are safe. >> reporter: some are calling this the polar vortex has caused long lines where people are stocking up on supplies, bread, milk and eggs before they can perhaps get snowed in for a second time this week. of course, the deep freeze coming a day after the snowstorm buried much of massachusetts with snow, up to 2 feet of snow in some places boston seeing a foot and a half, philadelphia seeing 10 inches all of the snow and all of the elements causing at least 16 deaths around the country mostly due to traffic accidents. meanwhile, flight cancellations reaching 8,000 this week. 792 just this saturday. here in central park, the midday temperature hit about 20 degrees which is actually as high as it's been the last 36,

48 hours and people here are enjoying the snow for the first time after the winter storm but again officials warn that these freezing temperatures that are coming are dangerous. okay. so make sure that you stay bundled up wherever you are at least through tuesday. bay area airports are still feelth effects from the storm. we spoke to a duty manager who said there's delays for east coast flights. san jose airport reported five cancellations and some delays. oakland airport says operations are back to normal there. people who run the diablo valley farmers market are relieved their stolen haven't has been recovered. organizers tell us someone who saw the story on the 10:00 news last night spotted the white nissan abandoned on columbia avenue. they say the van was stolen early thursday morning from oakgrove road in walnut creek. about 6,000 worth of equipment is gone but they say getting

the van back is a big relief. >> in fact, it took us four years to save the money to get the downpayment to buy the man -- down payment to buy the van and to fill up the equipment. >> among the items that will need to be replaced were the small-sized tables and craft materials used for the children's craft corner at the market. in the north bay, volunteers rebuilt a memorial to andy lopez. that's the teenager shot and killed by a sheriff's deputy. the memorial in santa rosa caught fire early thursday from a burning candle which activists say was a deliberate attempt to ruin it. they say the memorial is important to the community which is angry over lopez's shooting. >> our reasoning for rebuilding it is to come back stronger, to show everyone that we're not gonna let this get our spirits down. >> lopez was carrying a replica assault rifle on october 22nd when he was shot. investigators say the deputy thought the gun was real. the 13-year-old's family has filed a federal lawsuit

accusing the sheriff's department of violating lopez's civil rights. let's check in with mark and seep what's happening. we know it's -- see what's happening. we know it's been sunny. >> we all need the rainfall. that's becoming a serious situation. we're seeing a few changes over the next few days but not the significant rainfall we need. we're sticking to the mild weather story. a lot of 60s out there. even a few records to report. san rafael 67 is a record. mountain view, 67. sfo had a record and gilroy even in the lower 70s at 71 degrees. that was a record today. but widespread 60s warmest locations around 70 degrees. we're looking for the rainfall. we definitely need it. right now we're detecting mostly clear skies. a few high clouds out here to the south and west. current temperatures as you can see, cooling off as you would expect this time of day. lower 50s out towards napa and santa rosa. san francisco mid-50s and san jose still mild. right now checking in at 60 degrees. for tonight, we do have this -- mostly clear skies.
