two passengers in the car were hurt in the crash. >> the driver is a minor and could face felony charges. >> they are in a crash that injured a pedestrian. >> that happened after -9d 30:00 last night and california street. >> the victim was taken to the hospital. the driver did stay at the scene and the cause of that crash is still under investigation. on line fundraiser has been set up to help the family of a 19-year-old woman who was struck and killed by a pick up truck on new year's eve. she was holding her 3-month-old baby boy and walking with her sister when all three were hit. the bibby is still in critical condition. as of this morning, the fundraiser has raised close to $11,000. the driver of the truck is cooperating with police and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash k >> the bart station forced riders to get home late. bart police responded to a call

scattered showers. i will show you the temperaturesser for this afternoon and this morning where the winds are blowing -- coming up. 9:01. a man who led police on a chase overnight in oakland is now in the hospital. sheriff's deputies say the incident began as the pursuit of a shooting suspect and it all ended when the alleged crashed his car. deputies were able to remove the man from the vehicle. he had to be taken to the hospital. no word on the extent of his injuries. and an early-morning high- speed police chase in santa rosa ended with a crash that damaged six cars. the chp said officer tried to pull over the car driving with the headlights off. the driver led them through a chase and threw a sht gown out the window -- shot gun out the window. two passengers were hurt. police say the driver is a minor and could face felony charges. police activity at at the

union city b.a.r.t. station forced people to get home later. a man was suspected to be under the influence and knocking on the operator's door. the man got into a scuffle with the police. he was taken into custody. that incident caused a 20- minute delay. wild card weekend is underway. fans are ready to rock and roll. today could be one of the coldest nfl games ever played. temperatures at lambeau field are expected to be below zero. green bay will give fans hand warmers. the team will be giving out hot coffee and chocolate. many 49er fans made the road trip and are braving the road temperatures to see the game in person. ktvu's joe fonzi has more on why bars in green bay were greeted with a sea of red and gold. >> reporter: throughout the entire state of wisconsin, this is a very common site.

[chanting] >> reporter: 49ers hosted a midday rally yesterday near the team hotel in appleton. some 30 miles south of green bay. and people came. >> we moved out here when we were younger. ever since then it's been miserable living in the tundra as 9er fans. >> for christmas my aunt bought me a jersey with stripes on the side and it was red. i had no idea who it was. a week or two later, okay, that's who it was. a friend across the read. across the road. he was a 49er fan. okay. that is it. >> that green and whatever color the yellow -- this is the real gold. the gold rush right here. 49ers all day. >> 49ers, bear. >> reporter: i wanted to find fans near the hotel but they

staff is at work today because the manager here is expecting a packed house by the time kickoff happens at 1:40 this afternoon. the bar is fully stocked. some of the workers here. some of them have their 49ers' gear on like this by by the cash register. wearing a 49ers' shirt. the last name the teams faced off in a playoff game was last year. that game was here at candlestick park. the weather conditions were very different from what the fans and team will face today in wisconsin at lambeau field. >> crazy. difficult. cold weather. but the 9ers can definitely get through it. >> just the cold. it's just keeping warm. >> we got the -- >> reporter: earlier in the week, ktvu caught up with fans preparing to travel to wisconsin for the game. they had planned to pack layers upon layers of fleece and long johns, pullover, everything

they could for what could be the coldest game in nfl history. the national weather service is expecting the high in green bay to hover between zero and 5 degrees. that's not taking into account the windchill factor. as you heard mike report earlier, lambeau field will be handing out hand warmers to some of the fans. they will be giving out free coffee and chocolate to keep fans warm. needless to say fans watching the fame here in san francisco will be a lot more comfortable weatherwise. allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2 news. an update now on breaking news in oakland where a fire broke out before 9:00. these are live pictures from our roof cam. looks better than it did five, ten minutes ago. we just learned this was an empty warehouse. we're getting several cars. oakland fire tweeting that the fire is under control. we've been getting some photos sent in from one of our photographers there on the scene. he's gathering information about how the fire started. we also just heard from someone

who says he was inside that warehouse when the fire started. we will bring you that video and the latest information as soon as we get it. and we continue to follow developing news for you at new york's j.f.k. airport. flights have resumed after a plane slid into the snow. the incident is expected to cause delays. no passengers were hurt. the arctic blast could cause temperatures drop in 30 below zero in parts of the midwest. by wednesday, 140 million people across the country are expected to experience temperatures below zero. all public schools in the state of minnesota will be closed tomorrow for the first time in 17 years. >> this is the kind of weather where in five tents, ten minutes, kids can get get significant frostbite and the governor wants to make sure they are safe. >> the weather can can cause frostbite and hypothermia. 16 deaths are being blamed on

the winter storm. the storm has forced airlines to cancel thousands of flights, stranding travelers across the country. several flights have been canceled at sfo. if you are flying to the midwest or east check the status of your flight before you head to the airport. temperatures have already plunged to 50 below in the town of embarrass, minnesota. that cold snap is far from over. forecasters there say the town could break the record low of negative 64 which was set back in 1996. starting out with a live look at san jose, 43 degrees. a little bit of haze there. but air quality is moderate for today. we do not have a spare the air alert in space for your sunday. a dry offshore wind again creating that mostly sunny sky from the coast around the bay and inland. yesterday morning, we woke up with patches of fog along the

coast. just inside the bay. not the case for today. very dry air in plate. the winds, especially high in areas around berkeley, along the hills there and into the southern portions of oakland as well. 23 miles an hour reporting along the southern edge. mt. diablo, 30 miles an hour. over parts of the north bay, not too bad. so the offshore winds in and over the east bay hills driving temperatures in some areas. it has a little bit of breeze coming off the coastal range into half moon bay. the numbers there in the 50s. numbers are all over the place this morning. an offshore breeze in fairfield, 9-mile-an-hour brees in concord. oakland remains calm. santa rosa reporting calm conditions. santa rosa still trailing behind in the 30s. most of us catching up. but still quite a gradient with the temperature span anywhere from 25 to nearly 30 degrees. 32 in santa rosa. 59 at the airport half moon bay. 59 in san francisco.

56 in oakland. 43 in walnut creek. 54 in concord where temperatures have been relatively warm this morning because of the offshore breeze. but livermore sank in the 30s. now beginning to see a rebound at 44. i want to get into the north bay because we've got temperatures at 35 degrees at sebossty poll. but this reporting station is 1,000 feet above. so the hills, 58 degrees. depending upon where you are at, the numbers starting in the 50s. some of us waking up in the 30s. changes are coming. cooler conditions expected for monday. when tuesday comes along, there is a weak system that will bring showers, we may see a spritz, a passing shower. it's out of here and that's all we have in store. 67 for oakland. 64 san francisco. mid-60s san rafael. we broke records yesterday. we're likely to do it again

welcome back. giving you a live look there at mt. diablo. mostly sunny skies in store for today and dry conditions. at least 15 people were killed and dozens more wounded after several bombings in baghdad overnight. the deadliest attack happened northern where two car bloms exploded simultaneously near a restaurant and a teahouse. ten people died. 26 more were wounded in the attack. three other bombing attacks were reported including one in a busy commercial area. rescuers in india are trying to reach people buried under the rubble of a building that collapsed killing at least seven people. the five-story building was under construction when it crumbled. witnesses say there were about 40 people on site. most of them construction workers. police say the cause of the collapse is still under investigation. the coast guard is joining the international effort to help free two ships stranded in antarctica. the coast guard says the

icebreaker polar star left australia early this morning to come to the aid of a chinese icebreaker. that ship has been stuck in the ice since friday when crew members rescued 52 members from a russian research vessel. the polar star is capable of breaking up to 21 feet of highs. doctors in oregon are confirming that a 5-year- old.has died from the h1n1 virus. he collapsed on christmas day and died a few days later. his mother says it started with a fever and a cough. she says doctors treated him and then sent him back home. hours later, though, the 5-year- old collapsed on the floor and began turning blue from lack of oxygen. doctors say he suffered irreversible brain damage. >> it's horrible. i miss my son. it's hard standing here being here. >> his mother says she's sharing her story to warn people about the dangers of h1n1 and the importance of getting vaccinated. well, the flu season is in full swing but health officials say there's still time to get

the flu shot. dozens of families went to the san rafael clinic this weekend for a flu shot and doctors are urging more people to do the same following a warning from the cdc about the swine flu. the cdc says the predominant flu strain this season is the h1n1 virus. three people in california have already died from it, including a 41-year-old woman from santa clara county. >> i wasn't aware that people were dying from the flu that often. but yeah, i would say that would change things. maybe i will get a vaccine now. >> marin community clinics are offering shots to the end of the month. the flu season is not expected to peak for a few more weeks. it can take two weeks for the flu shot to become effective. the obama administration is reportedly considering several ideas to prevent problems like the one seen during the rollover of the healthcare.gov witness. the they say that website is moving more slowly but that's after months of continual fixes and calls of help to the

the season. the snow pack is 20% of normal this time of year. >> thank you very much. the unseasonably warm weather here in california has more people riding and buying bikes. some bike shops in sacramento say business is booming. the owner of a bike shop in roseville says winter is usually a slow season but his shop has been packed all week. >> this year it's been different. everybody is riding. all of the high school kids are coming in. we have a mountain bike team we support. >> they've had more than 20 days in a row of above-average temperatures. the park at b.a.r.t. is about to -- the parking at b.a.r.t. is about to go up. the highest fees will be at the west oakland stakes at $6 a day. daly city will charge $3. a number of other east bay stations will be going up to $2 from 1.50. the increase begins january 13th. san francisco police are investigating a crash that injured a pedestrian. it happened just after 9:30 on 17th avenue and california street. the victim was taken to the hospital but we do not know

speaking to the media throughout the season. espn says the first time lynch talked to reporters was on friday and it was only for a short period of time. the nfl requires its players to talk to the media. four men are behind bars for allegedly stealing mail from a neighborhood in pleasanton. someone reported seeing the men removing mail from mailboxes on mcdonald court at around 9:00 friday night. the suspects left in a silver hatchback car. the police later found that car and took those four men into custody. stolen mail from pleasanton and 13 other cities was recovered in that vehicle. an oakland family wants to know how and why a 5-year-old boy was ablg to walk out of -- ablg to walk out of a -- able to walk out of a city rec center at the aroyia park center in east oakland. family members claim a staff member sent him home. his mother discovered her son was gone when she went to pick him up. police were called, a search began. he was found more than three

hours later. >> call my mom. they said no. he want me to walk. >> how to you know? >> because he said everybody leaves. >> the boy was found at his cousin's home at 7:00 at night. the rec center has not commented on the incident. bail for a man accused of kidnapping a 7-year-old girl as han set at $4 million. antioch police arrested david douglas on suspicion of kidnapping friday note at the marina. the -- fright at the marina. the girl has found in the missing car. this triggered an amber alert. police believe douglas abducted the girl after following her and her mother home from a walmart store. an oakland make club is showing support to jahi mcmath. yesterday, the members organized a ride to oakland's children's hospital to comfort jahi's family. jahi had her on soils taken out -- tonsils taken out december 9th and suffered complications

and was declared brain dead three days later. the family says she responds to her. >> i said hey, jahi. she moved her legs. she looks good. >> on friday, children's hospital reached an agreement with the family to allow her to be moved to an undisclosed facility. she's expected to be moved by tuesday, 5:00 p.m. the deadline to take her off life support. volunteers in santa rosa have helped rebuild a memorial for and yip lopez, the teen shot and killed by a sheriff's deputy. fire investigators say the memorial caught fire due to a burning candle. it was back on october 22nd when lopez was killed while carrying a ripply cau assault rifle. investigators say the deputy thought it was a real rifle when i fired at lopez. the -- when he fired at lopez. activists say the memorial is punish for the community -- is important for the community. >> our reason to rebuild, come

and napa, still calm seeing a little bit of a wind in some of our north bay hills. it's primarily over the east bay hills. it really shows in our temperatures. take a look here. er -- so store, 32 degrees -- so santa rosa, 32 degrees. san jose, calm winds, 43 degrees. palo alto with a chilly start for you, in the upper 30s, low 40s. mountain view, 46. i want to focus in and around this area where we have 60 degrees in san francisco. 56 in oakland. 54 concord. 53 walnut creek. all the way to half moon bay where we have 59 degrees. and again, this is where the offshore wind has been strongest above the berkeley hills. the southern oakland hills and in and around across the coastal range there is an offshore breeze above half moon bay airport as well. driving the numbers at this hour as we get into the afternoon, we'll be above average, once again and the winds are going to begin to relax. this morning they are still blowing quite strong. ridge of high pressure in place for one more day. we have a weak system that will begin to break this down as early as tomorrow. this will be the final day with

mostly sunny skies. temperatures well above the seasonal average. as early as tomorrow we begin to turn cloudy with the high clouds morning in and temperatures beginning to cool. tomorrow, a few degrees and then tuesday into the low 60s. by wednesday, thursday, upper 50s in the forecast. quite a difference from what we're seeing today. 68 santa rosa, 67 in novato for the afternoon. 65 for berkeley and 64 san francisco. upper 60s for oakland, mid-60s to upper 60s for the inner east bay. 66 in san jose. 70 degrees with mostly sunny skies. it will be a beautiful day in santa cruz. the extended forecast here with your bay area weekend always in view, in addition to the increasing clouds, the drop in our temperatures, that cooling trend that will begin tomorrow, we do have a slight chance for a few scattered showers on tuesday. doesn't look like much. you won't need the umbrella. we may see a bit of a spritz, a light passing shower. all in all we're looking at mainly dry conditions for the next several days but temperatures beginning to cool

off. by wednesday/thursday, the afternoon highs ranging the in upper 50s to near 60 degrees. back to the desk. 9:38. the idea of stability in gas prices seems unusual. but the at moment many industry experts believe you will pay the same this year or less than last year. tom vacar has more on this. >> reporter: we've been paying the lowest average price for gasoline since 2010. that's good but still the third highest all-time average cost. the long-term trend is for prices to be flat or even declining after we see a slight bump up this spring as we convert to more expensive summer blend gas. this man is director of the uc energy director at the haas school of business. >> it probably will stay in that area through the summer. oil prices are looking like they aren't gonna take a big jump, at least. and then in the fall, we see them come down again.

ktvu's katie utehs just arrived on the scene. what are you learning so far about this fire? >> reporter: mike, oakland fire is getting ready to clear the scene at the cash and carry warehouse. they told us that the fire was likely cautioned by a homeless encampment, people trying to stay warm. let me show you video from inside the warehouse. someone called for help about 40 minutes ago and as firefighters told us, a large homeless encampment. those people have scattered. i'm told no injuries related to the fire. the call for help came in about 40 minutes ago, firefighters say they were able to extinguish it within ten minutes. however, this is not the first time they've had a fire here at the abandoned cash and carry building. they say several fires have caused holes in the roof. it's an incredibly dangerous fire for firefighters to battle. it's dangerous for the homeless who have taken up enkarnment --

place. i went after facebook myself because they were using private information that put on there without adequate notice to children. i sat down and worked out an agreement that they would change their policies. >> the suit claims paid $2.8 billion from advertisements. new york could become the 21st state to allow the medical use of marijuana. andrew cuomo is expected to announce this week that some hospitals will be able to dispense medical marijuana. cuomo is scheduled to unveil the plan on wednesday. he says the state's policies on medical marijuana will be more restrictive than in states like california and will be subject to new york hebt department standards -- health department standards. the. the santa rosa will consider a proposal to relax restrictions on dispensecies. council members could end a cap on the number of patients dispensecies can have an and allow them to have -- can have

well, it is a great night to see jupiter as the planet reaches on possession. that happens when an outer planet is rising opposite the setting sun. this is going to be one of

jupiter's closest encounters with the earth until the year 2020. it seems producers have made a decision about what to do with paul walker's character in the new fast and furious movie. half of the movie had been filmed when walker was killed in a car crash in november. but producers of the film say walker's character will not die in the movie. instead, there are plans for the character. brian conners will retire. paul's brother cody will shoot some scenes for the film scheduled to premiere on april 10th, 2015. final preparations are underway this weekend for the sundance film festival in utah. the festival opens january 16th for a ten-day run. this year festivalgoers won't have to wait in the cold for a last-minute ticket. organizers have created an electronic waist list. about $70 million a year, 45,000 people coming in. it is a big deal every year for
