hi, everybody, it's time for some great videos and the stories behind them "right this minute." safari tourists get close to an elephant who was minding his own business. what happens when they ignore the warning signs and pay the price? dash cam videos show why drivers should always pay attention. one swerve leads to fishtailing on the freeway. football game starting in just a few moments. >> it's a viral hit a pastor cutting football short because it's a play-off game day.
3:01 pm
now, get the real story of how this 49ers fan pulled a fast one. i look at this video and i look so fat because i'm wearing this. i mean, really, this thing is huge. >> and new videos from the no pants subway ride feature an rtm surprise. see why everybody's doing it. even this fella here. >> oh! here's video for you guys that has a lot of people upset on social media out of south africa, the cougar national park, an elephant walking down this road sort of minding its own business in this blue volkswagen are two tourists on a self-drive and jan they are ge really, really close to the elephant and then the elephant eventually turns around and starts doing what many are calling some warning signs. puts his head down, right?
3:02 pm
starts flapping his ears. >> at that point you put the car in reverse, right? >> you would think. but they actually stay. the elephant even does sort of a fake charge. >> [ bleep ] [ bleep ]. >> they keep getting closer, keep getting closer, until eventually -- oh! you see the elephant flips the car over. digging his tusks into the vehicle. both people had to be taken to the hospital. sara was injured because one of the elephant's tusks went through the back of one of her thighs. >> wow. >> the cougar national park put down the elephant after this incident. they say that this particular male bull was unusually aggressive not just here but in other altercations in the national park but people upset, of course, on twitter, on facebook because they put the elephant down when in reality you could argue that the people put themselves in harm's way. >> right. and this is the elephant's home.
3:03 pm
they're coming into the elephant's habitat so you have to have some respect for that. >> even after all the backlash the national park has come forward and said they stand behind their decision to put the elephant down. >> all we know is what we see in the video. we don't know the history of the elephant. we're not park managers either. i'd like to think they know what it's doing but it didn't have to do that because this car pushed that elephant and didn't heed the signs. >> [ bleep ] [ bleep ]. surveillance cameras from a parking garage in moscow captured this scene. you see this man walking out to his car with his two children and wife. the man up ahead in the black coat approaches his white infiniti in the distance there. as he gets close to the driver's side door, a gunman jumps out from a pillar nearby and opens fire on the man and his wife and kids and the wife and children go running and so does this victim.
3:04 pm
he's believed to be a crime boss in the moscow area. reports say that this is a contract hit. you see him go running followed closely by the gunman in the white pants as he chases him out of the parking garage. the gunman unidentified at this poi point. >> is he the one that ran right past the security guard, right past the doors? >> yeah. he was shot in the shoulder and the abdomen and he died of his injuries a day later at the hospital. >> this is horrible and he was a crime boss and somebody had a hit but to do it in front of his family, in front of his kids, they're not responsible for what his dad allegedly is involved with. >> cliche to say it this is a story out of a movie, it's hard to believe it actually happens. the kids nor the wife were injured there this incident. some reports are saying this could be a revenge killing for a hit that he put out a different crime boss way back in 1994 that
3:05 pm
vendetta just boiled over and came to a head this past weekend. >> 20 years is a long time to hold a grudge. >> in the world of, you know, organized crime i'm sure they don't forget. two examples of why you should always pay attention when you're driving on the road because you never know what things like this could happen. this is on a road in switzerland. up ahead big truck about to drive under that overpass but it is too big for the space. and -- >> oh! >> it crashes right into it, sends debris flying all over the place. >> got to know how tall your rig is. it's their responsibility to know the height and the bridge restrictions on the route they're traveling. >> yeah. >> because that could be incredibly dangerous for everybody else on the road. >> fortunately only three vehicles were damaged but nobody was injured in this incident. >> that bridge was.
3:06 pm
over to taiwan where this white car is driving in the middle lane but this truck decides to pull into that lane. it smashes into the truck. then turns back around, smashes into the guardrail. ends up slipping. ends up on its roof. >> it happened for so long and it happened, like, so slow the guy in the yoeellow-looking cars going what the heck is going on here. >> yeah. and is able to stop without actually hitting the car. believe it or not even though the crash did seem pretty crazy because the car did end up upside down, all these passengers in this car walked away with no injuries. obviously the car is going to need some help. this is the tale of a hotel manager that wasn't having anything of it. you see this guy walking through the door? that guy's up to no good. he's got a hoodie, he's got a bat and he's got a big knife. he gets in and starts taking money and then the manager walks
3:07 pm
in. he has a knife again and he told them, not today, buddy. >> he showed me the knife and said i'll cut you. and i said, no, you won't. >> he did get away with some money but she stood up to him and chased him out of the motel where his accomplice is waiting in a truck but according to police that wasn't his first stickup of the day, 50 minutes earlier they say he and his accomplice were at another business. the guy went behind the counter and this clerk was terrified and she handed the money over. >> was she able to stop him or get information or details? >> they do have images of what they believe these two looked like. they also got the truck they were driving and the license plate number and they say this one day series of robberies wasn't the only one. they believe they were responsible for another robbery that happened at the end of december. >> that's just an odd scene right there. just this little woman and she's walking towards this bigger man, he has a huge knife, and he's the one who's backing out of the store, you know, like she's
3:08 pm
intimidating him almost. >> luckily she was not hurt in this incident. police are still looking for these guys. some dudes go for a dip in the back of a pickup. >> not taking it easy on the speed. >> oh, no. >> not taking it easy on the speed is right. >> how making a splash on the road landed them in hot water. and fishermen spot a deer stuck in an icy lake, but they have a plan to get it out. >> he's going to try to lasso this thing. >> see the wild way they pull off the rescue.

3:11 pm
little fun fact for you, in australia they call a pickup truck a mute. i don't know what you call a swimming pool in the back of a pickup truck but this is what it looks like. >> called awesome. >> you're going to find out they also call it something else. these guys had a pickup truck lined with plastic and filled up with water and buddies behind them filling this crank, this bunch of shenanigans. red neck hot tub. it kind of is, right? it kind of is. now, you notice the one guy has a bottle of something it looks like maybe beer and they start going here and they're losing a whole bunch of water. not taking it easy on the speed. >> no! >> not taking it easy on the speed is right, because watch right here the driver does, like, a big swerve, i don't know if he's trying to knock his friends out of there or just lose a bunch of water, you see that.
3:12 pm
if that's not enough, he does it again. keep watching. >> no. >> you heard the glass from the bottle come out onto the street and break and you hear the guys in the car i think he hovet the bottle. >> i think they are losing the pool, too. >> the western australia police are not happy about this video. number one it's illegal to right in the back of a truck whether it's filled with water or not in this part of the country, number two, the swerving they're doing on the road a little bit dangerous and, of course, the water coming out of the truck onto the road. >> looks like good clean fun. >> all they need to do is save their money and rent the hummer with the jacuzzi in the back and it's the same thing. >> this is cheaper and a lot more red neck fun. lots of people like to put up the gone fishing sign and just go catch some fish, be at one with nature. that's what jarrett did with his brother-in-law, they went fishing in the chagrin river in east lake, ohio, but they didn't come back with any fish.
3:13 pm
they come down there and discover it is frozen. but they didn't leave empty-handed. they're in an area that is they say littered with deer and they found one stuck in the water. you see down there struggling right there at the corner of your screen, that's his brother-in-law down there. jarrett went back to his car and got ratchet ropes and he'll try to lasso it. the terrain not easy to get down. >> it looks like he's cutting his way through the ice. >> which probably means he's been there for a really long time. do they have the equipment to actually be able to rescue it? the >> they do actually make do with what they have. what i'm impressed with the first toss he gets most of his head in there. >> you can tell he's exhausted and he's looking at them, like, come on, hurry up. >> at this point he said he got it around most of his head but missed one ear but he said that was enough. he just tightens it and starts pulling. >> oh.
3:14 pm
>> whoo-hoo. >> wow, able to run right away. you think the deer would be frozen stiff. >> some area residents are calling jarrett a hero. he says, i'm not a hero, i'm just helping out. if it was a human, then you could call me a hero. >> once you see the thing stuck, you feel like you got to help. you can't just walk away. >> there you go. what is in the middle of a conversation someone confesses to you that they had killed someone? >> i don't think i'd believe them. are you trying to tell us something? >> well, what's the context with the story? >> probably you wouldn't believe them just like these people didn't believe andrew hales when he confessed. that's the joke in middle of a conversation. >> all right. i killed a guy. is there -- is there hot dogs in there. >> hot dogs? >> they don't have hot dogs that i've seen. >> i have depression. do they have hamburgers? >> they do have hamburgers.
3:15 pm
>> kind of sad. >> it is sad. >> i feel bad for him. >> and he keeps going with the conversation. and the people are left to wonder do i acknowledge the confession or do i just keep telling him where the cafeteria is. >> just follow the pathway and it will take you there. >> i killed a guy. ithere hot dogs? >> andrew plays it perfectly, though, no disrespect to him but he's creepy. >> i have mommy issues. is there in computers in there. i'm still a virgin. is there hot dogs in there? >> that one he means i'm a virgin to the cafeteria. >> i'm very lonely. >> and it's just in there. >> i find you very attractive. are there hamburgers in there? >> this started to sound more like a pickup, right. >> i killed a guy. >> uh-oh. >> that's cool. >> what? >> that's cool? >> are you kidding me? like, that's cool, can i have your number?
3:16 pm
>> i think she was in shock. >> please hold me and tell me everything's going to be all right. >> lulu's dream is to get her song on facebook. she has a little problem she forgets the words. see if she pulls it off next "right this minute." and still to come, pastor tim doesn't want to miss the 49ers play so -- >> i was thinking we might have a little bit of an abbreviated service. >> when he says abbreviated, he's not kidding. >> the one-minute sermon that has have been talking. >> everybody thought i was serious but i started getting booed. how a simple camera trick shows off a trick with style. he basically high-fives the camera and after every high-five it's a different part of the world.
3:19 pm
it's tough for a football fan to go to church and then get the game in on the same day sometimes the way things are scheduled. well, pastor tim christianson of the gold hill evangelical lutheran church of butte, montana, wants it easy to love god and go to church on play-off game day. >> you may not be aware that there's a football game starting in just a few moments, but i was thinking we might have just a little bit of an abbreviated service. >> when he says abbreviated, he's not kidding. >> would you all like to be forgiven for your sins? >> okay, that's great. you are. i wanted to talk in my message about wine and service but i think you probably know enough
3:20 pm
about that, right? >> did he turn the communion into a buffet line. >> help yourself to the wine and the bread. >> that's exactly what he said. >> there's some bread and some wine up here on the table. do feel free to help yourself if you'd like to. >> yeah. oh, my gosh, i love it so much! >> he did kiss the bicep, too. >> one thing he said which is very important, they had an earlier service that morning which i'm pretty sure was probably longer than a minute long, but just to verify, let's talk to pastor tim who we have "right this minute" via skype. welcome to the show. >> thank you very much. good to be with you folks. >> just to clarify, you did have an earlier service and how long was it? >> we had an 8:30 service and it was about an hour long, but the truth is i actually came back in after that, so, you know, that one minute was just like my lead-up to it. and have been thought i was serious. but i started getting booed by the vikings and packers fans in my congregation, so i came back in and did a full worship service after that.
3:21 pm
>> why not play it back later? >> i did. that's exactly what i did. my son had started the recording at home. we went through the whole worship service, i refused to check text messages, phone calls, facebook, anything. i was trying to stay in the dark. >> you to have hide yourself from the rest of the world. >> exactly. >> so you did do a full-on service after this. but i got to wonder is your mind, like, wandering to what was happening at the game? >> no. i was actually fully involved in the worship service because i knew i'd get to watch it afterwards. if i hadn't had an 11:00 service, would i have been home watching the game? bet i would. no, i was doing my job. >> does your congregation know you for having this kind of sense of humor? >> i've only been in this congregation for only three years, so i think they are getting used to that. i like having fun and i love to laugh and that popped up between my son and i the night before, we were joking, oh, it would be tough to miss the game, but when i saw the video, i started
3:22 pm
laughing my butt off, i had no idea what he captured there was so much fun. to end the old year there's always a countdown, right? this is the countdown leading into 2013. this countdown led to a series of travels around the world and this awesome video that he put together, he basically high-fives the camera and after every high-five it's a different part of the world that he has been to. >> this is awesome. >> that's just such a simple camera trick. and it's, like, perfect. >> wow, what a grand trip. >> phenomenal. >> yes. >> in it you see people that he's met along the way. he's at the water. he's iniffer birds, at aquariums. it really i think describes his trip quite perfectly. >> yeah. and i like that each clip is very short. it's as long as it takes him to
3:23 pm
just reach his hand back and slap the camera because that's cool just in that second or two he'll be able to remember where i was, what i was doing, what i did that day. it's pretty cool. >> it's pretty awesome. it's pretty fabulous. >> yeah. >> me, too, why didn't i think of this moment? >> it's a worldwide event where riding the subway sans pants is no problem. people in boxers, people in scantily clad panties and underwear you could see. but see the surprise backside that rode along. >> oh!
3:25 pm
3:26 pm
>> whoo whoo whoo whoo whoo! >> he opens the door. it all starts coming in and before you know it the entire apartment, the living room, is covered in fog. >> gosh. created a weather system in his own apartment. >> he turns on a smoke machine. >> they do say the temperature inside the apartment is about 100 degrees fahrenheit. i'm guessing they probably hiked up the temperature for the purpose of this video. they were went from pretty cool to pretty warm and then you get that effect. >> it's like steaming up your bathroom when it's colder in the bathroom than the shower, you make your apartment that hot, i don't care where you, if you are in the northeast right now, it will probably do the same thing. i'm sure there are a lot of double takes over the weekend especially on subways, because what happened, the 13th annual no pants subway ride. here's a clip from new york c y city. this thing is huge now. originally put on by improv everywhere. went down in 60 cities in 25

3:28 pm
alex, our camera guy, he took his pants off as well. ho look at how many people are involved, the people from improv az. we took a big group shot. i loved this guy because we were waiting at the platform and this older fella in the orange shirt backs up to us and i thought he was going to ask what the heck was going on and he said, oh, i'm here with this, too, so he pops his pants off and joins us. >> what was in your backpack? >> my pants. that's our show, everybody. thanks for joining us. we'll see you next time. good. good answer.
