injuries but concern about how the incident was handled. >> reporter: san francisco firefighters this afternoon cleared broken windows and shoveled glass. remembrance of last night's detonation that tore a building apart and sparked a fire. >> my whole house shook. none of us knew what it was. >> reporter: police were called in, family clearing away the belongings of a late member. the bomb squad followed a render safe protocol with the decision made to order some neighbors to evacuate or shelter in place before the device was exploded in the building. >> i know there is concern as to why the bomb squad did not move the device, however in this incidence they determined it was safer to leave it where it was. >> reporter: do you think you should have been evacuated?

third floor. there was a party there. we are not sure if it is related or not. >> police believe the gunman fled in a dark colored sedan. a not guilty plea from a man in antioch who admitted in interviews he did kidnap a 7- year-old girl. david douglas appeared in court and charged with kidnapping and sexual assaulting the 7-year- old on january 3 in antioch. police say he followed the girl and her mother home. she was later found a couple hours later inside his car. he is also accused of trying to kidnap three other girls. he is due in court next month. four duringlers in two days -- burglaries in two days in

pedestrian today in oakland about 1:10 a.m. this morning. the chp said they received calls of a man staggering and then calls that a man was hit. the 35-year-old victim died at the scene. the crash closed eastbound lanes for an hour. at this point investigators have no idea why he was walking on the freeway. police are looking for a driver who hit and killed a pedestrian last night about 7:30 p.m. the victim was a man in his 50s. they haven't yet released his name. witnesses said the car that hit him looked like it was a dark colored charger or monte carlo. lawmakers zeroed in on the high-speed rail in california. the rail authority chairman defending the project.
