commute, 580, pleasantton, the community really hasn't started yet. thank you, sal. topping our news this morning, students at carlmont high school returned to class this morning for the first time since the arrest of a former student. it's an interest making international news. 19-year-old vladislav miftakhov is in jail following his arrest on friday. the teenager from russia is accused of possessing a weapon of mass destruction. police say they found a bomb and bomb making materials in his apartment. he's a college student. >> he had one or two friends but was not outspoken. >> the suspect's home is less than a mile from carlmont's campus. he said he had played

with explosives before he moved to pennsylvania. psychologies will be on campus this morning when the first grade students of a teacher head back to school. she's accused of giving her coworkers pot brownies in an after school activity. >> a school psychologist will be on hand today in case students want to talk about what happened on friday. first grade teacher theresa badger accused of serving pot to her coworkers during an after hours pot luck dinner in november. one person had to be hospitalized. police arrested badger on friday after

a month-and-a-half investigation. investigators haven't said what the motive might have been here. we were unable to reach badger this weekend for comment. this party didn't happen on school grounds. it also didn't happen during school time but there's quite a bit of concern about how students will be impacted by this and that's why the superintendent here said there will be psychologists on campus. live this morning, channel 2 news. thank you. there's been a possible sighting of the 14-year-old boy who is accused of shooting his 17-year-old sister. police have been looking for toliver since thursday. he was spotted on a transit bus at 1:00 yesterday

afternoon. the teenager had already gotten off the bus before other riders expressed their concern. around 4:00 yesterday afternoon outside a jack in the box on lone tree way a 33-year-old man was shot inside a van. the man was rushed to the hospital and is expected to survive. no arrests have been made. a funeral is going to be told day for a 14-year-old girl hit by a train. she may have been trying to beat the train to be on time for a singing performance. today's service begins at 10:00 a.m. garcia will be buried at oak hill cemetery. freezing weather headed back to the midwest. temperatures are expected to drop today and should stay they way until thursday. the wind chill factor are making things even colder.

he recently celebrated his 90th birthday on december 11th. u.s. health officials are looking for what caused an illness that rapidly spread on a caribbean cruise. by the weekend, more than 600 reported feeling sick. some passengers say this is the last time they will travel anywhere with royal caribbean. >> i will never come back again, not on this cruise. we were here two years ago, same thing. the ship was overrun with this sickness. >> health officials say it's likely a passenger who was already infected with a virus or bacteria came on board. they say close contact with everyone else on board allows the infection to quickly spread. well, there's an app for just about everything, even fighting the flu.

people can report flu-like symptoms so authorities can tell where the outbreaks are happening. so far, there have been 30 deaths in the bay area since blue season began and 95 deaths state statewide. the livermore city council will propose a ban to ban tents on private and public property. happening today, the faa is expected to order safety checks on hundreds of boeing 767s. there are concerns over the horns l section of the tails. those sections are called elevators. they help the plain during takeoff and landing.

welcome back to the ktvu channel 2 news. a widening of the one of the worst areas in the bay area could take longer than expected. the project is $209 million short of funds for work on paving a third lane. >> we're very confident that within a reasonable amount of time we can get that asphalt on that median to give us that third lane to really relieve traffic. >> county officials say they are searching for state and federal funds and hope to have the project complete in two years, but if they can't come up with the money, construction may not wrap up until 2020. >> this morning, gidley remains
