3:00 pm
hello, everybody, i'm beth troutman, if you want great videos from the web, this is the show for you, "right this minute." a woman is arrested and thrown in a restraint chair as a cop hacks off a weave -- >> that is connected to her scalp. >> what happened to one officer when one reporter got ahold of the video. it's a strange sight for some folks in pennsylvania. >> they woke up in the morning and they were, like, what the heck? >> see what it takes to make a snow roller. the pilot carefully lands a
3:01 pm
chopper on snow. >> it's on what they call skids. >> why skids is a good word for this. plus, ipad minis are great for a million things. now get the buzzword for your shot to win one. and what could make a 6-year-old little brother -- >> react like this. >> what's wrong? >> now meet the big brother behind the great prank. i have some video exclusively obtained by our friends at yxyz in detroit that shows an opener is cut on camera you could say. this video shows a woman shortly after she was brought into the warren police station in michigan. according to reports she was arrested for trashing a local motel room. watch what happens. something a little bizarre, something you don't see caught on camera inside a police station. >> it's, like, a haircut,
3:02 pm
impromptu haircut. >> that's exactly right. you see her put in what looks like a restraint chair and you see an officer begin cutting her hair. this officer is actually cutting her weave, a weave that is woven into a braid that is connected to her scalp. now, that officer is bernadette nager. >> why does she need to cut her hair off? >> that's an slept question and it hasn't been answere it'sro to take out extensions with the metal clips in them because they could use those as a weapon but in those case we're not talking about extensions with clips, we're talking about something that's actually woven into this woman's scalp. when the police commissioner saw this surveillance footage, she was suspended and she's since been fired. >> there's a real simple thing called right and wrong and to me this is something i won't tolerate. >> wxyz tried to talk to her but she refused to get an interview.
3:03 pm
>> i will call the police. dial 911 right now. >> since this video came to light and since the officer was fired, all charges against the woman have actually been dropped. as you can imagine, she was very upset with this officer's bea r behavior. >> she's a very horrible person. looks like we've got an air ambulance responding to a ski resort in germany. it was gently descending down and as soon as you get lowered to the snow you see the snow kick up in and caused a little bit of a snowstorm. everybody else in the area keeping their distance from this helicopter. it's a euro copter and it gingerly touches down. now, keep in mind this is a ski slope. it's covered in slippery snow. so, he initially sets down and it looks like the pilot wasn't quite satisfied with the way the helicopter was sitting so he turns the helicopter around just a little bit, all right? >> oh, no. >> at that point the helicopter
3:04 pm
is resting on the ground and he begins to shut down the engine. >> you think you do, yeah. >> think about what it's sitting on. >> it's on its own skis. >> yeah, on what they call skis. >> oh, no. >> here it goes. >> oh, boy. >> the helicopter begins to slide down on its skids and crashes into that snowmobile back there. looks like maybe there was even a bit of a fence. people run out of the way. the blade's still spinning, too. >> yep. >> and those blades are damaged. thankfully something was able to stop that. nobody injured in this incident either. >> wow. >> crazy accident. >> hey! >> as we know, it is bitter cold in many parts of the country right now. that has led to some wacky weather phenomenon.
3:05 pm
these photos were actually sent to me by friends of my dad pam and bill wolbert in north clarion, pennsylvania. check out their fields. they say there are thousands of these on their property alone. these are known as snow rollers. and these are happening all over the country right now, nebraska, kansas, ohio, michigan, here in pennsylvania. they almost look like snow tumbleweeds, right? or snow hay bales or snow doughnuts. >> doughnuts! >> these aren't manmade but are happening by themselves oftentimes overnight. these friends of my dad woke up in the morning and what the heck and they woke up to find a scene that looked a lot like this, in these videos. how does it happen? is it a piece of debris that gets picked up and blown? >> the national weather service basically says that there needs to be a ground layer of ice,
3:06 pm
crusty snow. then it's got to be around 30 degrees. then there's got to be new snow that falls that doesn't stick that first frozen layer. about an inch or so. then there's got to be gusts of wind that can come along and pick up that powdery snow and sort of pick up little pieces of it and almost create these doughnut-type-looking things, almost like how you create a snow man. look right here that's, like, a perfect circle with a hole in the middle. >> yeah. it looked like a giant dropped the marshmallow about to roast. >> like, winter crop circles, like, what created it? the >> exactly. that shot is crazy when you see two of them. apparently it does happen. it's rare. it, of course, happened in the past but not a very common thing. it's almost time for us to give away an ipad mini. >> that's right, in just a little bit we'll be giving you the friday buzzword and tell you how to enter and win. >> you must be 18 years years or older and a u.s. resident to
3:07 pm
enter. >> it's the "rtm" ipad mini giveaway coming up. oh, what a lovely scene we see before us. there's a moose walking around. but, wait, this moose isn't exactly welcome where it is. it's at a bottom of a ski slope in quebec and i have to say not exactly a welcome sight for some of these skiers. maybe it forgot its skis or saying, do you know what, you've been here for years, this is our country and we want it back. and this guy says i'll chase you off and ain't having none of it. >> where it supposed to go? it doesn't look like it wants to go up the slope. >> how did it get there? >> it may have gotten into this fence. don't know how it got in but that's probably where it wandered in and it looks like it will wander out. do you know what, no, i'm not leaving. meanwhile in the united states this is just a day in the life in one neighborhood in colorado. there's a herd of deer that just wanders around and scott lawson got some video of them and it's pretty interesting. the guy got close and you want
3:08 pm
to touch the nose and the thing gets skittish. come on back, guys, if you want to touch me, i'll let you. we can get nose to nose. >> almost like they are -- almost like they are looking and checking out the neighborhood. >> wide streets. >> this is where you get to see a little of the running behavior where this buck denied by not one but two females. in this last video the woman is getting out of her car. the thrill has worn off for her. she's got two rolls of wrapping paper and she comes out and the car beats it to get this thing to go away. all right, i'm moving. a reporter's quick reflexes make for a viral hit. literally. >> he's looking right at camera with the knee up kneeing this kid. >> now, find out why the video bomber says getting it in the gut was good enough to do again. and it's a game of charades that you can play -- >> online through an app with anyone around the world. >> action. >> see how easy it is to make a scene.
3:09 pm

the weather channel's jim cantore trying to do a live shot which is tough for people on tv because you never know what idiot is going to do something out there. he's in this winter weather in charleston, south carolina, when college of charleston student colin wants to get his 15 minutes of fame doing this. >> a little bit later on tonight. >> jim handles that better than anybody could have. i mean, such veteran move, right? just ninja style. >> exactly. they slowed it down which makes jim look even more like a bad ass because look at that move. he's looking right at camera with the knee up kneeing this kid. colin in what looks like the junk. colin said he got him in the leg. but the original video has 2 million views. a new station wcsc actually interviewed colin. to make this work colin met jim cantore right before this, got a picture with the guy and then he saw him go on tv and decided to ruin the guy's live shot which
