. good morning towel come to mornings on 2. it's saturday february 1st, i'm claudine wong. >> good morning, everyone. i'm mike. good morning rosemary. good morning to you. we have mostly sunny cool weather in store. we're waking up mostly clear this morning. it's cold out there. 5 to 15 degrees. it's colder than it was yesterday. i'll line up the temperatures coming in just a moment. in the forecast for tomorrow we'll be cloudier even the possibility of a few scattered showers. i'll have the futurecast model your afternoon highs are coming up. today marks the start of a new season for the san francisco giants. first the players report the fan fest. fans are already lined up outside of the ballpark. >> reporter: they're already lined up. you can see they're bundled up. a lot of people are sleeping in

their blankets. they brought their sleeping bags and coats and hats out there. some of the fans we talked to say there's a great vibe out there. people have not met before, but they have in common that they're a big san francisco giants fan. we went out to see how long fans have been waiting. one woman has been holding a spot in line for her 12-year- old son and she got here at 11:30 last night. other fans said they wouldn't miss this event because it's their best chance to meet and talk to their heroes of the san francisco giants. >> we came at 5:00 and we were all the way far away. we come earlier every year, and the earlier we come, the better for us. we get more done. >> it's been a lot of fun, like i said we've been listening to news, talking baseball, talking

about the season. >> that thing you heard from was, came to denver, colorado. he flew to san francisco to be at fan fest. there is always a huge turnout at this event. fan fest starts at 10:00 this morning. it's free and fans who get in they'll have a chance to meet and possibly even talk to some of their favorite players. we'll be here all morning and we'll have live report at 8:00. . new this morning police are crediting arrest security guard with catching a suspected gunman at a bar in freemont. it happened after 1:00 this morning at the doorway unnails boulevard. it's not clear what led to the shooting. the guard at the bar helped get the shooter behind bars. >> it's a security guard that detained our suspects.

officers took him into custody. we recovered a weapon. they taped off the bar, no one was hurt in the shoot and -- shooting and the discuss' name has not been released. the bar has been open for a few years and there have not been any recent problems. unprecedented action has been taken. 0% for water allocation. it will not deliver water to 29 agencies that depend on the water project. they include parts of napa alamada and santa clara counties. >> most of the reservoirs are well below their average this time of year. overall storage is the lowest we've seen since the 1970s. >> this drop of water deliveries has never happened before in the 54 history. communities will have to rely on stored water, groundwater and push for more conservation. the state will re-evaluate the

situation each month. water will only be exported in case of an imminent threat to health and safety. it delivers water to 25 million californiaians statewide. the hardest hit is the agency that gets 08% from the zone project. it serves 200,000 people in dublin and livermore and san ramon. also the alamada district, it gets 40% of its water from the state. it affects about 10,000 households. people and merchants say they're reducing the amount of water they use. one livermore said she might stop setting water in front of customers unless they ask for it. the owner of a wine bar said

vintners are concerned about it this year. >> they're looking for what it's going to be to the vintage 2014 will almost be nil if we don't get rain. >> they're asking for people to conserve. the rainy period is not over yet. mandatory is an option for the coming weeks and months. >> two flu deaths have been confirmed in the bay area. that makes 34 deaths across 9 bay area counties. the two most recent deaths were in santa clara county. it brings the deaths to 10. the victims were both men with underlying medical conditions. state health officials have increased their count for flew related deaths. it brings the total to 147. this year's total is already higher than last year and does not include an additional 44

cases that are still being investigated. last year's flu season claimed the lives of 146 people. a shooting of a woman this weekend have a group of neighbors considering private security. they're going to drum up support for hiring security to patrol the neighborhood. they need 100 households to spend $30 for a security. they're searching for four people in connection with they are shooting. bart trains, they lost power causing arrest bart pilot to keep the anchor from drifting. it fell from the tube, and power was restored. bart was notified a couple of hours later and suspended service for 30 minutes to inspect the tube.

for the afternoon, temperatures like yesterday. upper 50s, under mostly clear skies. look at storm tracker 2, not a cloud over the area. i'll look at this, and show you the next possibility and seeing rain coming our way. this is a system off the coast. it will be sliding inland in the next 24 hours or so and by tomorrow morning at this hour it will be right up along the coastline. it's expected to make a southerly move and as it does it will just skirt the coast and the latest model brings the possibility, better possibility of rain our way. here we are this morning, we get into the afternoon, mostly clear skies a clear day in store, upper 50s, low 60s, but by sunday morning, it looks like we're picking up a few scattered showers over the coastline. geat into 8:00, now, it's sliding down farther south, it's by 9:00, maybe a few scattered showers over the peninsula, it doesn't stop, by

10:00 it's moving into san jose. and into the afternoon, it continues to bring this wrap around moisture and perhaps showers in the forecast for superbowl sunday. we'll be tracking this for you. this newest mall will bring in the possibility next, you could slide back in the next hour it, we're only talking about the 50 miles or so, if it shifts to the east we'll get more rain. afternoon highs for today upper 50 to near 60 degrees for the north bay, 59 for san jose, 60 for morgan hill. it's always in screw, it will remain on the cool side for sunday, we'll be cloudier and again we'll see scattered showers on sunday, but it won't take long for it to clear out. by monday we're partly cloudy and temperatures remain in the upper 50s and 60 as we get

. thank you for joining us this morning. we're giving you a live look at the golden gate bridge. the sun is shining this morning. it's 44 degrees in san francisco. >> things got windy as you can see there along the ocean beach last night. guess what happens. fans slept across a section of great highway which caused it to be shut down. companies in georgia are trying to figure out who is going to pay the bill. the roads were too icy to drive on and they abandoned their vehicles and began walking. 2,000 cars were left on streets and free ways.

the state called in tow companies to move them to the side of the road or tow them away. the companies were told not to charge the owners of the vehicles. this man is accused of stealing some of the cars abandoned in the snow. he was acting as a tow truck driver, and he was in the process of stealing his fourth vehicle when police spotted. the tow truck he was in was also stolen. 7:16 today a bay area woman takes over the federal reserve. janet yellen is the first ever to lead the fed, she's the first woman to lead the fed. she has been the advice chair of the fed for four years. she was the president of the federal reserve bank of san francisco. first lady can help democrats take back the senate and take back the house. she wrapped up her visit by speaking at a woman's luncheon

which is typically busy for the slope. the flames sparked out at 6:15 last night in the bay view neighborhood at a home. the flames spread to two neighboring homes, one was damaged significantly, the other only had minor damage. the cause of that fire is not known and no one was hurt. investigators say they're calling a grass fire that burned near a marin county high school suspicious. it started around the high school and the two alarm fire burned about 8 acres and took an hour for firefighters to put it out. the high school officials said the campus was never threatened by the fire and no evacuations were necessary. a fire that destroyed a house yesterday morning was set by a woman who lived there. investigators say neighbors reported seeing 41-year-old woman outside of the garage just started the fire. police say she was burned and had to be treated for nonlife-

threatening injuries. two other people who were inside the home managed to get out safely. >> they're warning people about a spike in car theft. there's been an increase in thefts over the past few months. they don't seem to be targeting any specific area. they're reminding people to lock their cars and park in well literary i can't say. >> they're looking for men in these surveillance videos. police say the photos were recorded around the time of the theft. now, if you recognize the men, police say give them a call. >> a water taxi service in san francisco could expand to richmond. the water taxi takes people to four san francisco locations. he wants to order taxi service

the bay this morning. it was headed to the port of oakland yesterday. it lost power. they dropped an anchor, that anchor fell from 1200 feet from the tube. it was contracted when it was near the ship. bart suspended service so it could inspect the tube. bought a 60-acre plot of land in englewood. he has not said what it's going to be used for, he's keeping his options open. he's not had a nfl team since 1994. three homes are damaged, the flames started at 6:15 in the bay view neighborhood. a spokesman said the flames quickly spread from one home to two neighboring homes. one was damaged significantly and one minor damage. the coughs of the fire is it under investigation and no one was hurt. a grass fire that burned near the marin county high school is suspicious. it took firefighters an hour to knock it down. the campus was never threatened by the fire and no evacuations were necessary.

county district. iter is gets -- it gets 40% of the water from the state. the santa clara water district receives 1% of its supplies from the project that affects about 10,000 households. people and merchants say they are already reducing the amount of water they use. one livermore restaurant owner says beginning today she might stop serving water to customers unless they ask for it. the owner of a wine bar says there's pessimism. >> the grape growers are very concerned about lack of water and what it will do to the vintage. 2014 will be almost nil if we don't get rain. >> the alameda county wurt district is asking consumers to voluntary conserve 20%. officials are hoping for rain. mandatory rationing is a possible option in the coming weeks and months. starting with a look at

san francisco. the flames sparked up at 6:15 at a shoem on shafter avenue in the bayview neighborhood. a spokesman from the fire department said the flames spread to two neighboring homes. one was damaged significantly. the other had minor damage. the cause of the fire is no known. investigators are calling a grass fire that burned near marin school yesterday suspicious. it started yesterday. the two-alarm fire burned about eight acres and took nearly an hour for firefighters to put out. officials say the campus was never threatened by that fire and no evacuations were necessary. police in santa clara say a fire that destroyed a house early yesterday morning was set by a woman who lives there. investigators say neighbors reported seeing 41-year-old outside of the garage after the fire started. police say she was burned and had on treated for non-life- threatening injuries. pittsburg police are

warning people about a spike in stolen cars. they've noticed an increase in thefts in the past few months. thieves don't appear to be targeting a specific areas. police have been using license plate readers to catch the thieves. they are reminding people to lock their vehicles and park in well-lit areas. antioch police looking for these two men suspected of saling a surveillance camera from the antioch marina on december 29th. the photos were recorded around the time of the theft. if you recognize the men, police say call them. two more flu-related deaths have been confirmed by health officials. according to the tally, that makes 34 across nine bay area counties. the two most recent deaths were in santa clara county bringing the total number of flu-related deaths there to 10. the victims ages 43 and 54 were both men with underlying medical conditions. state health officials have increased their cost.

the total number, 147. this year's total is already higher than last year and does not include 44 cases that are still being investigated. last year's flu season claimed the lives of 106 people. well, in the bay area, and across the state, the call to conserve water is getting louder. the san francisco public utilities commission has finalized a call asking help help chip customers to cut water -- asking hetch hetchy customers to water by 10%. parts of san mateo, santa clara and alameda counties. san francisco residents can receive free water saving devices by going to the puc headquarters at 528 golden gate avenue. they need to bring along a proof of their address. the situation has become so dire that a muslim group in the bay area says it will hold a prayer service today for rain.
