bar after 1:00 a.m. officers say a man asked to leave returned to the bar opening fire. police say miraculously no one was hurt and the bouncer chased down the suspect. they arrested michael vargas of newark on suspicion of attempted murder. rain is expected to make its way to parts of the bay area tomorrow. you can see that beautiful sunset just beyond the bay bridge there and you can see some clouds and those clouds are part of that system that is heading this way. i know what all of you probably want to know is how much rain, mark, are we expecting from that? >> we're tracking rainfall rates and accumulations have been increasing. the overall system is supposed to completely miss the bay area, but right forecast models are pushing it closer to the coastline. the current position tour north and west offer the sonoma

. san francisco police arrested at least four people today at a rally for nudity. about a dozen protesters were there to mark the first anniversary of the city law banning nudity. organizers say there is growing acceptance of what is called "body freedom." and they predict the law will be overturned. violations though could lead to $100 fine. the ordinance makes extensions for young children and the bay to breakers race. a new tax is up for debate at san francisco, a campaign was

kicked off today to sugary drinks by the ounce. >> other areas have failed to pass a soda tax and still san francisco leaders are pushing ahead with this proposal. our patti lee is live in the city where the food and beverage industry is gearing for yet another fight. >> reporter: if passed this tax could add $1.08 to the price of this double gulp. it's supposed to be a deterrent and that is why it's so controversial. at the punjab restaurant in the mission district, soda sales are credited for keeping this family business afloat. >> we have so many cuperts that come just to buy drink. sugary drinks including energy and sports crichs are now in the crosshair of san francisco supervisors. >> . >> 64-ounce soda here, 53 teaspoons. >> reporter: today they laid out a plan to

>> hello. >> a prendly visit by neighbors is start of a new association committed to protecting residents in the lincoln highlights area of oakland's dimond district. the group is going door-to- door. >> hi. >> hi. >> reporter: trying to get 100 people to sign up for private security guard to patrol their neighborhood. they met saturday morning to plan their pitch before canvassing the streets. >> we have known about the crime that has been happening and we see it in our e-mail groups and talk to our neighbors it's happen. >> reporter: the need for private patrol was spurred tuesday when an armed intruder shot and injured a 81- year-old resident in her home. >> it's about everybody looking out for each other. protecting the neighborhood. protecting oakland. >> reporter: this group knows oakland police are short-staffed and say they just can't wait on them anymore. >> no, we can't wait for that. >> joann string isn't

. well a bit of a split weather pattern. tomorrow we're talking about more cloud and increasing rain chances in the bay area. cape mendicino, trying to detect rainfall locally. not the case right now, but that could be changing first thing sunday morning. current temperatures, cooling off rapidly, in fact, already some 30s to show up in santa rosa, napa. a lot of talk about the super bowl forecast. it's actually going to be okay. i'm going to put our forecast model in action. the bulk of activity remains to the north and south of east rutherford. this is it still about a 30% chancef showers and temperatures at kickoff will be in the

40s,43 degrees. so at least the forecasted temperature for kickover has been kick has been going up. san francisco tomorrow morning, upper 40s, on track to reach the mid-50s. then the extended, dry weather pattern with partly cloudy skies. in the very long forecast, maybe a week from now we could be talking about a significant change in the weather pattern that could include some more raindrops out there. overnight lows will be in the 30s to start out your sunday morning. widespread lower 40s around the bay and san josi at 39. the weather system, as you can see it approaching our coastline. the track is very important in terms of rainfall chances in the bay area. it will be cooler. as far as the scattered rain showers the heaviest activity could be near the immediate

coastal for the coastal hills of north bay. putting this into motion tomorrow, you can see tomorrow morning at 6:00, 7. >> to 8:00, scattered showers at 12:00 and even into the afternoon hours. by late tomorrow afternoon into sinned night we scale back on rainfall coverage. by this time tomorrow, probably just mostly clear skies. the big range may be .05". for the coastal hills potentially up to .5". forecast highs for tomorrow, mainly in the 50s. warmerrest locations could be flirting with the 60-degree mark. half moon bay 55 degrees. here is a look ahead, your five- day forecast and finally changes to talk about. some scattered showers tomorrow, especially for the coastal hills. clearing into monday. more sunshine by tuesday.
