us if there is any more rain headed our way. >> several agencies may have a secret weapon against droughts. this is millions of gallons of drinking water. we are live in san francisco with how the project would work. allie? >> we have al gorgeous sunrise behind us and the pacific ocean is a source of beauty for the bay area. some look to it as a source of drinkable water. five different water agencies in the area to the san francisco puc and valley water district. they are studying the idea of desal nation plants for the last 10 years. they have brought this to the forefront of the discussion again. five of the water utility agencies have without at the desalination project. they talked about idea sal nation plants. one of the proposed plants

would be on mal lard slew and convert brackish water into potable water. they built a test plant on the site to see if it would work. this is video of the pilot plant from the project's website. the project has identified two other places for desal nation plant in the area. >> one in concourt and one in monterey, the earliest they would be built would be 2018 to 020. now, that we are in a drought, the idea of desal nation has come into the forefront again. desal nation of plants could produce 20000000 gallons of water a day for the bay area. this is still in the planning stages and still need to go through environmental review and they have raised comments about this and what it would do to the bay and marine life around here. it is a chief concern and they estimate it would cost 150 to

as much as $400 million to build each of these plants. live in san francisco. allie rasmus; channel two news. this is what it looked like overnight on i-80. there is fresh snow on the roadway and we will look at interstate 80 right now if we can. and this is twin bridges to meyers and if you are going to head to the resource. they are brought up to 5 feet and many of the resorts and with the light dusting. ski resorts are hoping it would attract more snow boarders. >> it is being slammed with a powerful snowstorm and expected to get the worse of it. 14 inches of snow. blizzard conditions are forecast for cape cod and other portions of the coastline. many residents are still recovering from the last week's big storm. >> it is a lot of snow.
