what service is expected to be restored following that derailment. >> this was the scene as news chopper 2 flew above the derailed bart train. several cars are zigzagged and off the tracks. the train which was not carrying passengers was near the concord station when the derailment happened. >> derail -- concord, concord 2. >> 331 how do you know you derailed? >> i'm looking over the edge. >> take a listen. we are hearing the initial emergency call from the train operator moments after that train went off the track. he was the only person on board and was not injured in last night's accident. we have new developments tonight on the derailment. >> kiro 7's debora villone is live at concord bart where they are awaiting a replacement track there. >> reporter: they are working up there. you can see a truck behind the

look what is going on with bart, because something is always going on. >> reporter: a time-lapse video of a process that took hours. bart still has no explanation for why the derailment happened or how expensive will be. we're waiting for two 39' sections of new track to arrive. the crews will be working through the night to get that track in. reporting live, in concord, debora villalon ktvu channel 2 news. this derailment happened very close to where two bart cars jumped the tracks back in 2011. that train though was carrying passengers. the 60 people on board, they were shaken up with three people hospitalized with minor injuries. bart's investigation then determined had that equipment problems were to blame, including a switching track. bart is looking into whether there is a possible connection between the two derailments. >> as debora mentioned the bart problem made traffic a lot

bay area ukrainian community protested against the violence that killed at least 75 protesters in their home country. the demonstration in front of san francisco's city hall asked for the u.s. and europe to provide security to opposition leaders and for donations to help the families of those killed. it was a dramatic day in ukraine as the parliament ousted the president and his long time plug enemy was freed from prison. as amy kellogg reports, yanukovych is not retreating without a fight. >> it's a reggable turn of events in europe's second largest country after days of deadly clashes with riot police, anti-government protesters seized control of kiev on saturday. the parliament voting to impeach

>> reporter: in oakland, patti lee, ktvu channel 2 news. now to new developments following a lock-down at oakland's peralta elementary school. san francisco police now say that they have arrested a man who allegedly threatened the family of a student there. 45-year-old matthew eisenhower of oakland was booked on charges of stalking and making criminal threats. he is being held on $1 million bail. well, the threats led to security measures at the oakland school on 63rd does. >> a redwood city man is behind bars, accused of stealing cell phones from someone he met on-line. the suspect is identified as 21- year-old denmark copeland. police say he met and robbed the seller at gunshot. several bank robberies are

hoping to prevent alleged robbers to help fremont police. the robbers are suspected of hitting various banks in fremont since october. after two big industrial fires officials in redwood city are laying out specific steps a recycling company must take in order to remain open. the fires were five weeks apart at the sims recycling facility the at least one fire may have been arson. the remaces that the city want sims to implement is adding cameras and improved lighting around debris piles and better security in and around the facility. there will also be random unannounced inspections. it's a battle of high-tech titans in court, apple and samsung have failed to reach a settlement in their latest smartphone patten case.
