peninsula there is a crash on the shoulders. if you want to use 280 as an alternate route, i think it will be a better bet for you. let's go back to the desk. >> thank you, sal. topping our news is breaking news this morning involving berkeley firefighter who was killed in a tractor accident. tara moriarty learned his name and more about his family. many of whom who have worked as bay area firefighters. tara. >> reporter: that is right. the flag is flying at half staff here at the station where tony once worked. this beloved firefighter was killed last night in a tractor accident. it happened in an unincorporated section of martinez shortly after 6:30. procession of firefighters and emergency crews escorted his body to the coroner's office. tony nunez was killed. the tractor went 200 feet down

a canyon. rolled, pinning him underneath. firefighters poured into the coroner's office last night grief stricken. he worked for berkeley fire but his father and three brothers all work for the don tram costa -- contra costa fire department. condolences are coming in on ninth's facebook page. live from berkeley i'm tara moriarty ktvu channel 2 news. police in fairfield are investigating a deadly crash that appears to have occurred during a street race. it happened last night at lopez road and canyon hills drive. investigators say two cars were moving at high speeds when they collided at the intersection. witnesses say it was an innocent bystander who was killed in the crash. >> what i hear from one of the witnesses is that they were

speeding. two of the cars was speeding. and this gentleman was driving up the road. >> police say one of the suspected racers was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. the other driver sped away and is still on the loose this morning. ktvu alex savidge will have more from fairfield in our next half hour. concord police are looking for three men they say forced their way into a home, taped up a boy and his grandmother and robbed them. it happened at 3:15 yesterday afternoon. >> he was in a state of shock when i was talking to hill. by the time he calmed down once the police got here. when i came out, he was obviously very upset. >> this morning the three suspects are described as hispanic and between the ages

of 19 and 30. one had a short buzz cut with a birthmark above his upper lip. two were armed with handguns. >> fremont police are investigating -- that happened last night on duster berry way. when firefighters arrived they found an overturned vehicle next to the tracks. there were two people inside. one was unconscious and had to be extricated. both people had to be taken to the hospital. police officers from the bay area will had to fresno today. died last monday in a crash on highway 99. they were responding to a traffic accident and hit a guardrail. after graduating from the academy together, gonzalez trained in san jose. law trained in oakland. governor jerry brown will be

a train flew off the tracks between concord and pleasant hill stations. bart workers spent most of the weekend removing the four derailed cars and repairing the damaged tracks. >> we want to thank them for waiting to get their repairs down. i have a transit system that operates on 104 miles of track. things will go wrong. >> bart's safety department and the public utilities commission is investigating the accident. it may take several weeks before investigators determine exactly what went wrong. it looks like the bay area will get a double dose of rain. two big storms are expected to roll our way earlier this week. it's the rain state officials have been hoping for as california deals with a severe drought. snow is expected in the sierra. officials say the new rain won't be enough to make a dense

in the drought. today santa clara county supervisors will introduce a new concept they believe will help with the drought. ever since the beginning of the drought counties have been asking customers to voluntarily cut back on water usage. they have been looking for new ways to get their water during the drought. today president obama will meet with governors from western states effected by wild fires and the droughts. fighting the massive rim fire near yosemite last year cost $127 million. the president's proposal would allow federal agencies to draw from a disaster account when big fires cause them to go over budget. san francisco animal control officers -- to see if they can contain rat poison.

>> we all walk home alone at night a lot of times. you don't really think -- you think you can make it. you think it will be fine. >> another sexual assault took place in the area on saturday and back in january three men were arrested for allegedly raping a student. at least five california children are suffering from a mysterious illness. an illness that has left them with polio like systems. the children became ill with the infections between august 2012 and july of last year. the children suffered unexloined paralysis in their arms or legs. all of the chirp have been vaccinated against polio. the golden gate bridge

highway will release its recommendations for a toll increase on the golden gate bridge. there are four options under consideration. one raises the toll by $1 beginning in april followed by a series of small increases over the next five years. people in the east bay who use food stamps will have access to another produce stamp. the social services agency says its part of an effort to get people to eat healthier foods. the stand will be opening today on foothill boulevard in oakland. it is the third stand to open in the east bay for food stamp recipients. netflix and com cast announce they have sealed a deal that will give com cast customers a better netflix experience. they are establishing a better direction that will provide faster, higher quality streaming from netflix. the companies are not saying
