s.w.a.t. officers, police dogs and robots, the scene that rattled and east bay neighborhood for much of the day and had neighbors wondering what lead to a violent attack in a normally peaceful home, good evening, i'm ken wayne >> i'm heather holmes. >> that started after police say a woman was attacked inside of her own home. now, another woman is under arrest. kristina is in front of the home, what have you learned from police about an incident there yesterday? >> reporter: well, actually, there is not much police are saying. that's why there are a lot of questions, not too many answer says about what actually happened this morning and last night here at the home across the street. the crime scene tape is still up. police need a search warrant to go inside even though the s.w.a.t. standoff ended hours ago. >> i was so scared. >> reporter: a sunday morning wakeup call by the s.w.a.t.

team stunned neighbors on mayhew landing road. >> a knock at the door -- >> he literally grabbed me by the wrist. "you need to leave." >> her husband and two kids were in a back room. >> i was sleeping still, so they woke me up. i said "what's going on?" >> the standoff was prompted by a vicious assault on a woman inside of the home, neighbors saw her leaving on a stretcher with blood on her face. >> there was a big show. it was kind of scary. >> >> reporter: neighbors say the police were at the same home yesterday for hours. a mother and two adult children live there, but they never expected any problems. >> it's really bad. because as a neighbor, you don't know what kind of people live next to you.

>> i hope she is going to be fine. >> reporter: that woman is still at a trauma center with life-threatening injuries. police don't want to release any information jeopardizing their information, as soon as information breaks, we'll bring it to you. >> >> in oakland, police are investigating a fatal shooting that killed a 25-year-old woman. investigators say the woman was shot around 93:00 last night. it happenedded on garfield avenue. police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, but they say their system detected several areas. last night. this death is oakland's 20th of the year. >> >> on storm watch as we look at the conditions in san francisco. you can see blue sky and gray clouds on the bay, there have been scattered showers throughout the day. >> it was much of the same story aconsiders cross many

where the snow mack may be below average, but the latest snow is giving resorts something to celebrate. >>. man, former head of security of santa rosa plaza. he lost his job after a confrontation between mall security and supporters of andy lopez. the teen killed by sheriff's deputies. today, ktvu talked with the man who said is he unfairly taking the fall, katie? >> reporter: speaking out for the first time, the former head of security said his guards were merely following the mall's conduct. santa rosa plaza security guards aapproached people wearing andy lopez t shirts.

nicole showed us the video and explained what happened a few days following the incident they said "you need to remove your shirt. it's not allowed in the mall. or you need to live." it was so embarrassing, humiliating and frustrating. >> reporter: the former head of security for the mall is sharing his side. >> for our procedure, we inform our security people no one would be allowed in the mall with signs, t shirts, anything that is relevant toed protest. >> reporter: it's a procedure that may have cost him his job. >> my personal feelings are totally irrelevant. i have a responsibility to protect the assets of the mall. i did that. we did that and now we are being thrown under the bus for it. >> >> reporter: following the confrontation between the guards and members of the lopez family, an attorney apologized in a letter writing -- .

legal options. live in santa rosa, channel "2 news." russian forces surrounding military bases demanding ukrainian troops surrender and hand over their weapons. so far, no shots have been fired and violence has not broken out. but ukraine's new leader called russia's move an act of war. >> this -- the declaration of war to my country. and we urge presidentputen to pull back his military. >> meanwhile, ukraine's navy commander swore allegiance to russia and ukraine's defense minister said his country lacks the military power to resist russia. in the capital of kiev, the government mobilized troops. tonight, and international

on the right. where the rain has made for a slick and slow commute throughout much of the day. there can be too much of a good thing too fast. that's the case with rainfall in southern california. for months, the region did not get any rain at all, now this is what is being seen all over los angeles county. areas that were recently charred by wildfires are vulnerable to mudslides and sliding. the community in the san gabriel foot hills remain under mandatory evacuation orders. >> >> crews worked for more than eight hours through the night trying to reach hikers strand the at malibu creek state park. that's about 30 minutes northwest of downtown l.a. authorities say they were finally able to hoist the four up and out of danger by using a helicopter. >>. storm has created dangerous surf conditions at beaches throughout the state. that's not keeping some people out of the water. one surfer in malibu couldn't

having alot of fun. >> >> let's check in with our meteorologist, mark to find out what is in store for us. >> we are tracking another weather system. in terms of the sierra snowfall, they are reporting light rain toward blue canyon. snow levels up a little bit across the region. looking at a light storm, there is the coverage out there. snowshowers, probably up above 7,000 feet with the warm air in place. you can't see the coverage toward the sierra, a closer inspection of our local radar, not much out there. doppler radar trying to detect rainfall. we do have more activity developing off shore, out here in the pacific, we have a system approaching our coastline. really disorganized, but it will be strong enough to make more clouds tomorrow and increasing rain chance, especially during the afternoon

hours. in terms of rainfall, the numbers have been adding up over the past, basically, february and over the weekend. since jewel, santa rosa over 11 inches. san francisco over 8. san jose, nearly 4 1/2 inches in terms of percentage of average, still way below. we all know that. for tonight, we do this this partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies, here is our live camera looking out towards the west. the possibility still a few scattered rainshowers paying us a visit. tomorrow, more clouds and scattered rain develops by the mid-and latter portion of the afternoon. that will be the best timing. extended, we are talking about shower chances coming up by mid- week. overnight lows, first thing tomorrow morning, mainly in the upper 40s to lower 50s.

>> firefighters rush to a house in the hills. possible cause for this fire at the' ban doned home. >> reporter: you can see the plume of smoke from niles away, flames lit up the sky 5:00 sunday morning as firefighters rushed to control a fire at a vacant home on altamont road. >> the whole roof was on fire by the time they got to putting it out t started out from this, coming out of the window to the whole house was engulfed in flames. >> we sent crews inside to extinguish it, that's when one of the firefighters fell threw the floor. >> the firefighter fell eight feet. he escaped unharmed and continued to fight the fire. the home is built into the hill, making access difficult. the flames ignited nearby power lines, neighbors worried the flames would spread. >> i went and turned on the

hikers can apply for permits to as scent the yosemite half dome. the number of people is capped at 300 a day. so reservations are required. a limited number of permits for this year can be obtained through a lottery system that started this weekend. the 17-mile trail is a challenge with the 4800 elevation gain. >> >> but what a view when you get up. there let's check in with mark. see what is happening. the sun is going down, beautiful pictures out there. >> with that hike when you go
