hi, everybody, i'm beth troutman, if you love great videos before they go viral, this is the show for you "right this minute." waves get a little too epic off maui. >> oh, oh, oh. >> as a boatload of people -- >> all get tossed into the water. >> now, see amazing foot an as a famous surfer joins a tv crew in a rush to save lives. >> in a situation like if nobody was there, it could have been big problems. a dance cluck is overrun by a group of madmen -- >> wielding machetes and swinging them.

>> how everyone managed to get out of this one alive. guys are gathered around a car kuz -- >> bess what's stuck in an engine. >> why the crew is in. and the dude chatting up the ladies starts laugh for no apparent reason. >> what are you laughing at? >> see the video to make you say awkward. >> yeah. the world famous surf spot jaws off the coast of maui was in full effect this past weekend. monster swells anywhere from 45 to 40-foot waves out there drawing lots of surfers and videographers and photographers as well. you see the one swell break over. it already took out one surfer but if you notice in the foreground all jet skis and other boats many of them start to scoot to the left all but this yellow and white boat here. seems to linger a little bit too

long and get caughts up in that swell. >> uh-oh. >> whoa. >> that's a photography boat container grover cleveland he's a videographer and seven other people all get tossed into the water but surfers and rescuers quickly respond including one of the most famous surfers out there in the land garrett mcnamara hopped aboard this yellow boat and began bailing water out of it once they were able to right the boat. sadly all the photography equipment landed everything down into the water. >> oh, no. >> if that's the worst thing, then it's a good story because people's lives in the boat and everything way more important. >> it's incredible video shot by the go big project. director rocky romano was there and he wntiitnessed it and join us "right this minute." what were you doing out there to capture the awesome footage? >> hi there, we were filming for our new project called liftoff, it features one of the best wing

suit pilots and a local surfer and they are attempting to switch sports. we had our boat that we take out to most every swell and we were able to capture it all and lend a hand. we're the white and blue boat you see helping out. >> what was going through your head? did you think they would make it? >> i knew there were professionals on scene, for a situation like this if there was nobody there, it could have been a big, big problem. having these professionals there right on scene made a huge difference. when the boat actually capsized there was a man and a woman trapped below the canalen. the man came out, got some air, dove back down, was able to retrieve the woman and pull her back up. >> do you know if this boat had problems, if it stalled? why it didn't get out of the way as quickly as everybody else did? >> what happens when the swell comes in from the west it creates a secondary wave which is called the west bulb and it takes the normally safe channel and creates an actual wave

situation. so as everyone starts to realize and funnels out of the area, out of the danger zone, the traffic gets bottlenecked and unfortunately the boat that you see was the last one in the group and was therefore caught by the wave. one filmer was actually in the water swimming. he got taken out by the same wave, he managed to rescue himself and still get the shots that you see there of the res e rescue. it was definitely a legendary and historic day in big wave surfing out at jaws also known as baoiti. to the dominican republic inside a bar where people are having a good time. some of them seem to be at the bar. some of them are dancing. >> yeah. looks like fun. >> looks like they're all having a fantastic time. until you see in the video everybody just starts dashing to the back. so, before you know it, you see what the problem is. in run a group of men wielding

machetes and swinging them, striking the people at the bar. >> what? >> what the heck? >> oh, my goodness. >> people fall to the ground. and these guys have no mercy. they're just slinging those mache machetes. >> the bar patrons have nowhere to go, they're literally backed into a corner. >> reports say this is triggered because of a rivalry between two drug gangs and in a moment you see one of the machete-wielding men go over the bar and grab a bottle of alcohol and at that moment he runs back out of the bar and they all just take off running. there's another angle that shows you more of what happened. >> any ideaow many injuries? didnyts people were injured in this? >> some reports say there were as many as 29 people injured. no deaths caused because of this but with the victims were taken to the hospital for treatment. >> apparently this is about rival gang beefs, surely were

innocent people having a good time, we saw people dancing at the bar. those people were innocent. >> and according to the dominican republic police have made several arrests although they are not identifying who they have arrested. broward county, florida, a little town called westin. firefighters are on the scene of an amazing rescue. okay, not quite amazing but absolutely adorable. guess what's stuck in an engine? >> cat. >> right. a kitten to be specific. they spent 30 minutes trying to get this little kitten out. >> yay! >> oh. >> right here, right here. >> i want to be mad at the cat here because, like, why are you going in the car? >> okay? you hungry? >> how does it always fall to firefighters? >> firefighters are good guys, someone or something is in need the firefighters show up. here they have a still shot on their facebook page what the cat looked like trapped inside.

any day, fell has. any day. in the battle between cat and raccoon, who will win? advantage raccoon. here you have a couple of cats and a couple of raccoons. the cats are in the house and they have access to one piece of cat food fed to them and as you can see here the cats not as aggressive in play here. >> the raccoons are scavengers and they got to get what they can when they can get it. >> the cats get fed every day and they are not that interested in one piece of cat kibble. >> watch the hands reach in and grab the food and lift the food up to its mouth. it's really cute. >> it's like they are at a little salad bar with the sneeze guard because they are putting their hands in and the thing is blocking their face. >> a kibble buffet. avalanche is undoubtedly a scary thing. a lot of times they happen by accident. these guys starting the avalanches on purpose. >> oh, wow. yeah, that's not stable.

>> one look at this video you can see what the guy's trying to do up there. they're trying to set off the avalanches to make it safer for them to ski. >> avalanche! >> there you go. a giant chunk of that snow just goes flying down the mountain. you can hear him screaming to his buddies, like, calling four on the golf course. >> exactly, exactly. >> but watch this he starts off this initial one but then watch the other side of the mountain over here. >> oh, oh, a little delayed reaction. >> because he took out so much of that snow, he took off the bottom section another part from the top starts going down the mountain. >> did you see the slide? >> pretty cool that the guys know the snow so well, they know what it's about to do and it's about ready to give way and all it takes is a little bit of a ski to knock it down. >> avalanche! guys at a supermarket but he's not happy so -- >> he thinks about it. reaches into his pocket and fires that. >> but see why pulling the

surveillance video capturing some bad boys in action. two guys exit that door there and start walking down the block as another guy is walking down the sidewalk. that group of people comes

together and it looks like they are having some discussion. it looks like they talk for a while on the sidewalk and it looks like things go sour pretty quickly. the metropolitan d.c. police department releasing this incident from december, once that discussion goes sour a handgun comes out and you see this. six shots flash out of the end of that gun. the guy was right in the middle the street. the inial two gs runreleasing a information on whether the guy was injured in this situation but they are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the capture of the gunmen. >> worst part about this video is what happens but also it's really tough to see anybody. >> yeah. the footage very blurry and that's what's making it so difficult for d.c. police to figure out who that is. let's move on over to st. petersburg, russia right now, this guy in the black vest police say may have been drunk and got into some sort of verbal

discussion with a guard inside this supermarket. he calmly walks away, thinks about it, reaches into his pocket and fires that. that's being described as a gas pistol. basically some sort of self-defense weapon that shoots a chemical or some sort of tear gas. he then puts it right back into his pocket like nothing happens. police right next to him don't realize that he just pulled the trigger on that weapon. looks like he's about to go about his business when another guard nearby begins to approach. then -- >> whoa. >> guy winds up on his butt other people come to help and they quick lly wrestle the guy d take the pistol away. one 50-year-old was taken to the hospital with chemical burns to eyes. so the guy did hit his target. you can always depend on dad to take care of business and to have a tool for the job. in this case little zach

i was 14 and he was 16. we were military brats and we moved and we stayed in touch by letters and phone calls and we lost touch and 25 years later my teenage daughter had asked about my first kiss so i told her the story. then went to facebook and found him and we reconnected. >> yeah. i'd never forgotten about her, always wondered where she was, i even saved all her love letters from when we were teenagers and had them in a shoebox and always wondered what happened to christie. >> christie, said rob lost the teebt surprise you. were you surprised about anything that he had planned for you? >> i had no clue of anything that happened during any moment of the day. it was truly amazing. it was one of the most magical days ever. >> asking for directions gets awkward when -- >> he starts cracking up. >> like he just ran into a serial killer on campus. >> see if the prankster's laugh has strangers stepping back. mpressive min

of these people that can solve rubik's cubes in seconds makes file like why can't we do this. this video from juking video will make it worse. this is kevin hayes and he's got three different rubik's cubes of different sizes and solves them. he solves the 2x2 in a matter of seconds and he grabs your standard 3x3 and he is finishing that one pretty quickly and he can't find the 4x4 was that the one i just did? where is it, boom. great. grabs that and, of course, takes him longer to do this one, right, because it's tiles. and keep in mind holding his breath the whole time, too. holding his breath, a couple more moves and done. he said he did it all in less than a minute and a half. >> i picture kevin at, like, a summer pool party. >> everybody else is having a
